  1. Full Disclosure:  I'm embarrassed to admit online that I am partial to Alicia Witt Hallmark movies.  Christmas at Cartwright's sounds UTTERLY RIDICULOUS on paper but . . . . it's such a CUTE movie!  I also like I'm Not Ready for Christmas (and of course A Very Merry Mix-Up)Christmas List was a bit underwhelming and I liked most of Mistletoe Inn but I didn't love it.  I'm bummed that her newest Hallmark movie will be on HMM, a channel I don't have.

Has anyone seen Just In Time (I think that's the name of it). Eloise Mumford plays a successful author who THINKS she has to choose between her career and her fiancé?  I like that one a lot.  Other faves that I've suddenly remembered:  Naughty or Nice, A Holiday Engagement, and to lesser extents: With Love, Christmas and The Mistletoe Promise.

I am recording Best Christmas Party Ever as it appears to be a popular movie on this board.

I just rewatched Nine Lives of Christmas and Very Merry Mix Up - they are two of my favorites for sure.   One of my other favorites that was rebroadcast the other day is Snow Bride. Katrina Law stars in that one as a tabloid reporter.  I like that the story takes place around Christmas time but is not particularly Christmas focused.  It has an interesting plot and Katrina and her love interest, Jordan Belfi, have great chemistry together.

Snow Bride! I CANNOT believe I forgot that one.  That is definitely in my Top 2 Hallmark Christmas movies for sure!!  Hopefully Hallmark airs it again before Christmas (who am I kidding?  Of COURSE they will rerun it).

  3. Are the movies on HMM any "better/more prestigious" than the ones on Hallmark Channel?

My favorite Hallmark Christmas movies are (corny as they are) My Christmas Dream, A Dream of Christmas (except the ending when the wife makes a big career change in favor of her husband's career), the Danica McKellar one about the King and his daughter, Nine Lives and Very Berry Mix-up (though on multiple re-watches, the lead male character borders on creepy/overbearing).

I'm not a fan of the Candace Cameron Bure or Jessica Lowndes movies.  The Lacey Chabert movies are subpar at best IMO (though I do like a Royal Christmas).

I did wish that some other actress other than Angela Bassett had been chosen to play her part.  Somehow she just didn't seem right for the role.

I'm not saying this particular actress would be better, but I am almost certain I read early on that Phylicia Rashad was cast for this movie.  Maybe I imagined this???

Now, I did read (for certain) that Amandla Stenberg  (sp?) auditioned for Shuri.  I'm glad they hired Letitia Wright because she is adorable and very infectious!

What a great year in the Cephas Jones household.  First of all I absolutely love Ron as William on this show and, second, his daughter Jasmine is amazing in "Hamilton" as Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds.

Also, Ron Cephas Jones is in Luke Cage.  I actually smiled when I saw him.

  6. This is such a silly question, but here goes .  . . what's with some of the female characters' inability to cook?  Marlena, Hope, and about a month ago Ciara made a crack about Jennifer sucking at making Maggie's banana pancakes.  I guess I'm remembering details that don't matter.

I was distracted by the Nicole/Theresa scenes.  Ari Z towers over Jen Lilley!  Jen has pretty lashes though.

As for Aiden/Hope-- I'm unfamiliar with their history.   Hope had a non-reaction to Ciara's mention of Aiden today considering Hope's PTSD is due to Aiden.  Did Hope love Aiden?

  7. And then there's Maude. She and John do look alike.

I can't understand why DAYS is still changing John's backstory. I lost count. When I last watched DAYS, he was a priest.  Then years later I read he was the product of Santo and Colleen.  So now he's not?

And I can't with the name Maude. I see Bea Arthur's face.  RIP.

  8. Victor's younger brother, huh?

And I'm expecting him to be behind the Bo kidnapping.

Me too. Which makes Hope's murder of an "innocent" (I know, I need a better adjective) even more troubling and WTF-worthy.  Can I blame this on Dena Higley?  I watched OLTL when Dena was headwriter.  And it was not good.

  9. I wasn't snarking. I haven't watched DAYS in many years and had no idea they already did a Whodunit with Stefano. This realization just makes Stefano's latest "death" underwhelming and terribly written. ::sad face::

  10. 1) I am no fan of Rafe because although GG seems like a nice guy, he is on the level of DH in terms of his acting. The character has been paired with just about every female power-hitter on the show in an effort to make his character happen and it always falls flat. Now that Higley is back, the character and actor are among her favs, we see Rafe again being injected into nearly every story and a forced and overly fast pairing with Hope, along with his family being brought on (more members are on the way), while the Hortons, Bradys, Carvers, DiMeras, etc. are mere shells of there former selves with no apparent improvements on the horizon.

    2) Jack died after being crushed by an elevator as he was saving his daughter. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe they were divorced as Jennifer spent the last years of Jack's time on the show screwing Taniel and denigrating Jack (you know the man she professed her love for during the two seconds we spent looking back on the show's history as part of its 50th Anniversay Celebration) as the show's efforts to sell yet another character who didn't work at the expense of a fan favorite was in full swing.

    Thanks Happytobehere!  Poor Jack.

  11. No.

He just watched and did nothing.

I don't know which one is worse.

I watched the movie but never read the book.  Were Arden and Audrina the same age?

     The movie

made it appear that Arden was too young/too weak to help Audrina. I take it that the book depicted the complete opposite?

  12. I wonder if he will haunt Hope or appear as a vision to "help" Andre or reappear to mess with Chad's mind?  With this show you never know!

If Stefano had to die, they should have done an epic murder-mystery.  Line up the suspects (John, Marlena, Roman, Hope, Kate, and all the others that I can't remember).  Make it a real whodunit.  Half the town wanted him dead.

Apparently, the writers changed their mind about letting JM go so Stefano will reappear as a ghost.

  13. I have recently re-started watching DAYS again and am trying to acclimate myself to some of the "newer" characters (I stopped watching around the time Zack was killed).

My first question . . . . why is Rafe hated so much? I get that he has fans but I seem to read more negative responses to him than positive. What did he do?

Second question . . . how did Jack Deveraux die? Did he and Jennifer ever divorce?

  14. Really?

Uggh Higley might turn Jennifer into Nighttime Jennifer

    5..4...3..0

But no haven't heard that rumor. But I read Maggie might be hitting the bottle again.

Forgive me-- I used to be a HARDCORE Days fan from WAY back and found myself watching again shortly after Bo died.  The stuff about Jennifer "hiding her pain" made me wonder if she will get hooked on pain killers.  I barely recognize half of the characters on this show and don't have a feel for how good/bad the writers are.  I might be overthinking Jenn's next story (assuming she actually gets one).

I really hope Maggie doesn't relapse!

  15. I love a good (and a bad) Lifetime movie.  Last night I thoroughly enjoyed Don't Wake Mommy and last week's Stalked By My Doctor (LOL at that ridiculous name).  I knew Eric Roberts could play a good psycho because he's played one before, but I was most impressed by Sara Rue's turn as a psycho killer.

  16. This was a lackluster mid-season finale, but that might be rage talking.  I was bracing myself for Jenny to die and honestly thought Irving was safe.  Noooooo!  While the Frank Irving we knew might be dead, I don't think we've seen the last of Orlando Jones on Sleepy Hollow.  Henry has his soul for a reason.

I wish I could be more excited about this episode, but something was off.  I was expecting more . . . everything.
