  1. I do love that when Knight told Jimmy about The Plan he was all supportive sounding as if he just assumed she was capable of achieving as much as she ever wanted in her career while continuing their relationship. Let’s hope Knight realizes the same thing. I hate it when women dump their dreams and goals because they meet some guy. Sometimes a few tweaks are all that is needed (like not going off to the Asia office). Vance had it all, why not Knight.

I hear you. Mine tanked during menopause and hasn't come back.

I think some of the women are trying to be hip and "young" so they're over-emphasizing sex. They're probably also being coached by producers.

Why? My friends and I are over 60 and as sexual as we were in our 20s and 30s. Why do people assume older women are less interested in sex despite all evidence to the contrary? It’s offensive. The ones who prefer a book are likely not the ones out dating, let alone being on a show like this. No reason to believe these women aren’t genuine.

I watch it as Mike & Molly are 2 people who aren't considered prime dating material by the cool kids. But who are decent people deserving of love despite not being stereotypically perfect. But they are perfect for each other.

It started that way and that’s what I like too. But it soon changed into Molly being a big “catch” that Mike had to cater to because she had other options while Mike was a loser who’d end up back alone in his crappy apartment without her. We got reminded over and over how she was a strong independent woman and Mike was so lucky to have her. In reality she went from loving and caring to selfish, narcissistic, bossy and often angry, who only became a writer because she could live off Mike’s money and sponge off her mom, with piles of credit card debt, who did nothing around the house while Mike was working all day and went out shopping and partying with her mom and sister. $600 boots? $30 an hour yoga classes? Mike would give her money to give to her mom and she’d spend it on herself. I can’t imagine anyone even bought her two crappy sounding books. She was even willing to raise her children in a house with alcoholics and drug users rather than save money and move out. Watching it in reruns now and by midway through the series she not nearly as nice a person as when she was a school teacher who had finally found love after maybe being alone for a long time.

Someone on Reddit is saying that Amy did an interview (they did not say what media outlet) where she said Tammy is broke and when she is released this summer, Amy will allow Tammy to stay with her for a while until they can find another place for Tammy.

If this is true, Amy is stupider than I thought.  (Or maybe this is the only way TLC will agree to another season.)

eta:  Someone in the comments said the interview is with The Sun.

Amy and Michael need to worry about their children’s environment and let Tammy act like an adult and take responsibility for her own life. There is no way Gage and  his sibling should be exposed to Tammy’s toxic behavior including verbal and emotional abuse on a daily basis in their home. I look at the environment that kid is growing up in and think “that poor baby”.

They're all achons, I believe, except for Jen Arnold, who also has sort of a helium voice.  Shauna is more like a primordial dwarf (proportionate, but with an underdeveloped larynx; hence the higher pitch).  She COULD at least slow her speech a little and lose the Valley Girl vocal fry; that would help.

Wow, stepdad sounds like a real winner!  Yup; this show is their meal ticket.  I'll bet they're losing child support from the bio dad now that the youngest child (Rylee) is 18.

I think Shauna Rae could do more to make herself appear older. Working on her voice would be one thing. A more professional haircut and clothes. A whole new mature attitude. I dislike this whole “trapped in an 8 year old’s body” angle. But as others are saying, it is the meal ticket.

Caffeine in tea would not be good for a baby either, I wouldn't think?

He certainly doesn’t need it but the sugar is far worse. In a lot of cultures giving babies small amounts of tea or coffee is common. Although in this case I not going out a limb thinking it’s less cultural tradition and more letting Gage eat and drink the same sugary stuff they eat.

  7. After watching an episode I went and googled people who have dwarfism, some famous, others not. They go to college, graduate school, own businesses, have careers, own their own homes and raise families. What has this young woman done since graduating from high school? Apparently nothing. No job, no college, doesn’t drive. I don’t think there is anything here worth watching. The show is playing up “trapped in an 8 year old’s body” but really her problem is she hasn’t bothered to take control of her life and act like an adult and just makes excuses.

She had sweet tea to drink and was giving Gage sips of that.  Later it looked like Gage had sweet tea in his bottle.

As a diabetic myself, I still don’t understand how she eats and drinks the stuff she does. I know we only see her weight loss struggles, not her other medical appointments, but her A1C has to be through the roof. And why does a baby need sweet tea?

Kudos to your dad. Doing things the old fashioned way isn't easy but it's incredibly satisfying.

The problem/question is that Chris claimed to be Type 1 Diabetic & can someone w/Type 1 get to the point where they don't need insulin or pills? IDK.

Type 1 here. A type 1 diabetic can never get off insulin. It’s not possible. Life expectancy without insulin averages 5-7 days. And Chris did claim to be type 1 but obviously that was wrong if he’s off insulin.

To be fair to Amy, we only see a sliver of what she's doing.  Cleaning her new house isn't going to make the cut for TV, ditto for cooking.

I'm assuming that Gage's birthday party was more than just cake in a park; that's just the part they showed.

I thought it was a positive sign that she and Micheal met with a pediatric dietitian.  That's the complete opposite from the way she was raised.  I believe she wants to do the best she can for Gage.  There is no evidence that Gage is anything but a happy, healthy baby.

Okay, this reads like I'm the president of the Amy fanclub or something lol but I'm generally going to cheer when people are trying to improve their lives and food addiction isn't something that is easy to manage but if anything can motivate a mom it's her child.

We know Amy doesn’t clean because her house is a disgusting filthy bug infested mess. I think if she was cooking some healthy meals the show might show a bit of that. If I were Amy I would want to be shown cooking some healthy chicken and broccoli type meals for my family. Because I just don’t see her doing it.
Amy might be satisfied at 275 pounds but between that weight, her unhealthy eating habits and her diabetes she is setting herself up for a load of health troubles not far down the road.
Chris looks good. At least one of them is sticking to his diet. I’m still confused he’s off insulin. He’s obviously must be type 2 and not 1. He must really be sticking to a healthy low carb diet to get off insulin even being type 2. Thank goodness the show brought in Chris. Misty and Amanda. Neither Amy nor Tammy are at all likeable anymore or anyone I can root for. Tammy is just a horrible person. I don’t wish her ill but I don’t care anymore either.

Maybe the teachers gave her pity grades.

I wouldn’t go that far but maybe she got good grades in low level classes in an undemanding school. Both these sisters are dumb as rocks. I actually think they come off as borderline mentally impaired.

  12. Finally caught the episode.  And I did not find her likeable. Especially on the date.
I know the show is focused on her problems with looking so young. But the real problem is her acting so young. So doesn’t drive, work, go to college or a trade school. How is she going to support herself? How has she made an adult life for herself? Yes her parents were likely overprotective. Yet the teenage years are when kids start to break away. That is what makes the teen years so trying. Parents torn between hanging on and letting go and teens fighting for independence. She’s 22. Did she just roll along all these years continuing to act like a child? This show might have made sense if had she been 15, not 22.
These sorts of TLC shows want to pretend to be inspirational but exist because their “stars” are a mess. Jazz is a mess, 1000 pound sisters are a mess. Shauna Rae looks to be another mess.

  13. There are actually photos online of closeups of Amy’s  floor around Gage’s crib and it’s littered with what looks like dead roaches and some say rat droppings. Her whole house is disgustingly filthy. Michael is equally responsible of course. What kind of parents allow their child to live in such filth? They’re going to have CPS at their door if they don’t literally clean up their act. That poor baby crawling around on that disgusting floor. While Amy complains how tired and stressed she is. What does she do all day?

I fear they won't. I couldn't believe Amy had to have a massage for her pulled muscle when those women came over to  organize her apartment. She didn't do anything! I'm as lazy as they come, but I managed to keep my baby and her surroundings clean, without a partner and working full-time. I just have no patience for her excuses when it comes to that beautiful baby being raised in that filth. I know she loves Gage, but I wish she'd do more than just talk about wanting to do. And yes, I know Michael is responsible for Gage too, but at least Michael goes out to work and I think he just goes along with what Amy wants. Poor baby.

That’s what rubs me the wrong way too. I know Gage is loved. But he’s growing up in filth with dead mice and cockroaches, filthy mattresses and floors, surrounded by people who are morbidly obese with horrible eating habits. Add in being present during his disturbed aunt’s outbursts and hearing name calling and swearing as normal conversation and this poor kid is starting life with so much stacked against him. And Amy wants another child? She can’t handle this one and clean her house. Which is now even bigger thanks to the move.

The supersized episode tonight showed three bonus scenes: (1) Amy, Chris, Michael, and Amanda making small talk around the table, i.e. Gage is growing so fast, etc., (2) Chris telling Dr. Smith he's gotten off insulin, and (3) Dr. Proctor discussing with Amy and Michael the importance of Gage getting off on the right track nutritionally.

I was sure Chris had said he was type 1 diabetic, which would make it impossible to get off insulin.

I wish Amy, and Michael, would take seriously Gage’s potential future health if they don’t learn proper diet and nutrition. The whole family is obese and from a young age. I hope Gage can avoid that but a lot depends on Amy and Michael learning proper eating habits.

My mom is 87 and looks and acts younger than Darlene. I’ve never seen a 60 year old look so old. Unless she’s lying about her age by 20 years.

  16. I think scenes of the vacation, the ovulation tracker the airplane and the home visit by the doctor are a result of TLC desperately trying to create a show to finish the season. Neither sister is losing weight, dieting, or exercising. We’re left watching a show about two obese, slovenly, uncouth sisters overeating and ignoring all medical advice.  I’m sure TLC was promised a show about the sisters weight loss journey. They aren’t even trying anymore. I can’t imagine there can be another season of this. Although I can see Amy promising every which way that next season after the baby cones will be a real weight loss journey to keep the gravy train rolling.

  17. I was shocked to read recently Darlene is only 61. She looks like she’s well into her 70s. I think it goes to show how much poor diet, poor nutrition and overall poor lifestyle choices wreck havoc on one’s body as the years go on.

I had the drinking and dancing in college. She didn't get to experience that.

Plenty of people don’t. I come from a blue collar immigrant town where people get jobs in high school and work to support themselves and their families until they retire, where people tend to marry young and work hard to support families. There’s not lots of drinking and partying even for those of us lucky enough to go to college. Tammy has no responsibilities, not even for her own care. She doesn’t seem to have goals or plans for her future. Others have pointed out she could work from home as millions do these days but I can’t imagine she is mentally or emotionally capable of a job. I wouldn’t be surprised if Amy or Chris has make sure her bills are paid each month. She’s not trying to lose weight to become independent and gain mobility. She doesn’t appear to have real friends and is toxic to her family. My guess is she doesn’t know what else to do with herself so partying has become her answer. She wouldn’t be the first person with no hope to turn to drinking and drugs and false friends.

I love how every time the family talks about what to do with Tammy, you hear Chris go "WARD. OF. THE. STATE.", and really what are they going to do with her? Amy is going to bring her to live with them & Tammy will be a thorn in Michael's side until she dies.

I think it’s pretty difficult to get an adult declared a ward of the state. People have to jump through lots of hoops to get guardians appointed for elderly people with severe cognitive decline. I’m not so sure the family can just wash their hands of Tammy and think the state will step in and take over. Maybe if the family stops enabling her she will agree to go back to a rehab or medical facility when she finds herself on her own.
