  1. I really, really wanted to like this! I just re-watched the entire run of Friends since it became available on Netflix, and Chandler has always been my favorite. So, by extension, I have been a big Matthew Perry fan. To the extent that I recorded every one of his talk show appearances this week. (They don't recognize him in China! It was fun until he wanted something! I never realized how much celebrities repeat the same anecdotes!) And I've watched all of his post-Friends vehicles. And mostly liked them, tbh. So, anyway, yeah, I'm in the tank for Matthew Perry. There was just something off about his performance in this. He is a better actor than he was in this pilot. I am hopeful that it was just pilot nerves. I feel like he's putting a lot of pressure on himself to make this successful after the previous failed shows, so he was trying too hard. I just want to give him a hug and tell him to relax. I might be too invested in this! Loved Thomas Lennon and Lindsey Sloane. Will be continuing to watch for the rest of the season. I am really hoping that the "Felix acts gay!" stuff gets toned down, and that the women get to be real people. But, honestly, I'm in for the season because a night with Matthew Perry on my tv (even slovenly Matthew Perry) is a good night. And also, we've been promised Lauren Graham, and I am as much in the tank for her as I am for Matthew Perry.
  2. Oh shit. Now I totally think Dani is going to end up pregnant. And pretend it's Mike's, thereby accomplishing her mission of weaseling her way further into his life. And the DNA test will show that the baby is, in fact, related to Mike! And they'll all live happily ever after with their secret until the baby comes down with some disease that doesn't exist in Mike or Dani's family, but that could have been inherited from Steph...
  3. @Tara, maybe, but isn't the point of selling the house so that they have money to finance Camille's travel lust? If they don't get all the money from Crosby and Jasmine, then how is that going to work? Not saying that it's not where they are headed, though. This is TV, after all, and finances don't have to make sense. This show has proven that already, I think. They are great with realistic-ish character interaction, not any better than any other TV show when it comes to realistic housing/college/business finance.
  4. I completely agree with this, it's what I meant, even though I realize it's not what I actually said. I wish that the writers knew how to make him important in the show without sleeping with Bay. He could go back to actually being Daphne's friend. Or Toby's! Or you know, just give him his own plot that isn't about him getting back together with Bay. Which, I guess I thought maybe they were doing with the tire slashing thing? But, ultimately that landed him back with Bay. Yes, the hashtag garbage is ridiculous. No thank you, #BEmmettForever. (Ha, but it just occurred to me that Bay and Tank = #BankForever. That's actually awesome.) You are probably right about Tank and Bay. But he's just so good. So nice. She wanted to like a boy like him. And I wanted her to like a boy like him. She needs to go off to college and meet a boy as nice as Tank that she is also actually attracted to.
  5. Oh, poor, poor Tank. I mean, he did the right thing, because I think Bay was actually right, but the poor guy lost his fraternity and his girlfriend at the same time! Loved the scene with Emmett and Travis, as always. Was trying to figure out why he took off his shirt, and then I realized it really was just so that we could see him with his shirt off! Happy Spring Finale, viewers! Here's shirtless Travis for no reason! Wish TV would get over the idea that everyone finds their one true love in High School! I love Emmett. But I really want him and Bay to both move on. Remember when Emmett and Daphne were friends? Emmett is still an important part of the show, even if he's not with Bay. Angelo is the worst, as always. Glad Toby didn't move back home, but Iceland? I hope this isn't just because they don't know what to do with him and so they are shipping him off for a while. I hope he comes back as soon as the show does, and I hope he has a purpose for his life!
  6. Three weeks late, but I agree with you about Angelo. They have made him do terrible things, and be selfish, and make stupid decisions. It's hard to believe that anyone would want him around, or that he wants to be there. I also don't think that Gilles Marini is charismatic enough to pull off being a terrible person who everyone still wants around. He's a pretty face, yes, but the personality does not fit with the rest of the characters. I do love Tank, and I would rather see Bay with him than Emmett or Ty. But I do get your point about wanting to see a platonic friendship. I think it would have been interesting if they had gone that way. Would be nice to have them introduce a character that isn't a love interest for Daphne or Bay! And I actually thought they were going to go that way with the guys at the clinic with Daphne. At least with one of them!
  7. I am with you about Mark. I don't even want him to come back because I know he's just in for heartbreak! In my head he is off living a wonderful life where he is in love with a wonderful woman who treats him right. There is no way that Crosby and Jasmine can afford that house though, right?
  8. Well this show sure knows how to make me cry. Did they just drop the whole thing where Sarah was right about Max? And now we're back to Max being treated poorly? I hope the Sarah thing comes up again. Professor Dave is still creepy to me. Last week I loved Amber and Drew, and this week sad-sack Drew is back to annoying me. He was a jerk to Natalie who is a jerk! What did he expect? If Sarah and Hank get back together I may scream. But, I suppose it would be totally in character for Sarah.
  9. I agree 100%, Mardeth. I hate Clue Boom. So yell-y and frantic, and the random time factor makes it more of a luck-based game than a skill game! At least with Four Letter Words they have to work together and figure things out and everyone has the same amount of time. I actually enjoy Four Letter Words because I feel like you get a little more of some of their actual personalities. And you can see who is really, really dumb.
  10. I'm actually really interested to see where they are going with this Kristina/Adam/Max storyline. Because up until this season, I thought that the things that Kristina did to fight for Max were in his best interest. But then there was the thing with yearbook, and now with Sarah, where Kristina seems to be always defending him and assuming that people are wronging Max, when, in fact, Max is in the wrong. And she's doing him no favors by always defending his right to get whatever he wants whenever he wants it. Although, with Sarah, you can see why they would assume she was wrong. She usually is! It seems like they are going for a more nuanced portrayal of special needs parenting than I think you would usually see on TV. I loved Amber and Drew hanging out. It was really fun. And I always love a Braverman family dinner.
  11. Is it me, or were all the Braverman kids kind of the worst this week? In order of just annoying to worst: 4. Crosby. He told his mother that she's selfish! And yet that only makes him the fourth worst of her kids! Ugh. Crosby needs to get over his attachment to the house and let his parents deal with their own marriage. Thank goodness he has Jasmine to tell him how to be a normal human being. I have to admit that I laughed when he and Jasmine were listening at the vent and he complained that his mom said he was the most selfish, because obviously that's Sarah! They are the least bad because at least they figured out that they should leave. Even though they aren't going to. 3. Adam and Kristina. They showed up at a teacher's house unexpectedly! This whole thing with starting a school is weird to me, but I don't live in a place where charter schools are a thing, so maybe it's more normal than I think. Also, it's weird that "the enchanting Mr. Knight" is played by Dave from Happy Endings. I guess he's supposed to be a good teacher, but he just comes off as creepy to me. Also, they get bonus "worst" points just because Adam is Adam. 2. Sarah. She can't make the correct career or love life decision to save her life, can she? Why should she need Hank to tell her to do her damn job? I actually really like Ray Romano as Hank, and I love it when he is hanging out with Max. And I love it when he sees Dr. Abbott, I mean Dr. Pelikan. But I do not want Hank and Sarah to get back together. She needs to move on! I'm not sure how I feel about this new guy, but why can't she just let him go to Africa and see him when he gets back? It's only for a week! She can casually date a nice doctor! Why is it always all or nothing for her? 1. JULIA. The worst of the worst. I can not believe that she just gave in to Sydney like that just because Sydney was whining a little. And then she just let Joel deal with the fallout from her broken promise. Ugh. No wonder he has no interest in reconciling with her! Up to this season, Joel has always been my favorite Braverman spouse, but this year I didn't get why he was just done with the marriage and unwilling to talk. However, I'm starting to see that dealing with Julia can be difficult to say the least. First, she was working all the time and just left him to deal with all the kid/school stuff. And then she quit her job without discussing it with him first. And so he just went out and got a job and started supporting the family. But all she did was complain about being home with her kids! All the stuff that he had been doing without complaint for years was too hard for her! And she didn't give his job the same respect that he had given hers. So, you know what? FREE JOEL. (And I hope he gets the house and custody of the kids.)
  12. Abby is the worst. I actually stopped watching this season after the fight with Kelly because I just can't take it anymore. She's terrible to the girls and I don't understand why the moms let the girls be treated that way. Much of Abby's drama has to be fake, right? She's not actually as awful as she is portrayed? But what is she getting out of being portrayed as an awful person and a terrible dance teacher? It can't be good for her dance studio, can it? I mean, when the show is over, who is going to go to that studio to be treated horribly?
  13. But it's not really just the kiss or the book that is causing their problems, is it? The marriage problems started long before this season. Kathryn has always taken a backseat in their marriage in order to support John in his pursuits. And she just wants the same from him. Now that their kids are older, she's been searching for something meaningful to do with her life. And John has never supported her! The original book about the switch gave her something, but then that was over. And then she was the one who wanted to run for Congress, but John totally took that from her, and she stood by him! Now this season she's back to searching, and he's back to being a jerk about not wanting her to do anything other than support him! I totally buy that the kiss was just the last straw - and a thing that she feels justified in kicking him out for. (And yeah, her doing the book without talking to him is bad. But I don't really care because I am team Kathryn all the way. And also because I'm a baseball fan and I totally want to read that book.) And I love Tank and I hope he and Bay fall in love and are happy together forever. I like Emmett fine, but he and Bay are done and I hope they stay that way. Would love to have Emmett on the show more frequently; I just hope that they figure out a way to give us more Emmett without having him get back together with Bay.
