  1. Her word seems worth little at this point. She lies to her audience all the time, and I agree with a poster upthread that these lies have broken much of the audience's trust. That said, it seems impossible that the show would end without addressing who killed Mrs. D. I still think it's Veronica Hastings, the person with the biggest motive whom the police never even seemed to suspect--which makes her mighty suspicious to me. Some points of confusion on my part: How did CeCe take "control" of the A game--what did she threaten Mona with to make Mona into an A minion/lackey? Did she really? The way Charlotte told it this episode, she said she'd play the game with Mona, which is entirely different. Did CeCe know Mona had killed Bethany and was blackmailing her? I couldn't help but notice that Mona was wearing a red hooded cape (because the prom servers weren't wearing trench coats?), and she stayed behind when the other liars fled A's brain/lair, claiming she wanted to know "how the story ends." This ain't story time, girl. I also couldn't help but notice that Mona showed up with full dramatic makeup, even though she was wearing a mask. So very Mona, and hello, red eye shadow. It looked a little crazy to me, and perhaps a clue that Mona never lost sight of the A game/control. Or it's just that there was a lot of unflattering makeup in the episode/at Rosewood's prom. Also, how did Mrs. D just know how to find a dirty cop to pay off? Did she have previous dirty dealings with Wilden? Why did the episode try to redeem her as a desperately loving mother? Burying one daughter alive--without even checking to see if she's dead--in order to "protect" another kid she's kept locked away and a secret from the world does not scream mother of the year. Neither does leaving your baby in the house with a possibly disturbed young child while you garden and chat up the neighbors. Even if you accept your child's sexuality--that doesn't get Jessica D any gold stars in my book. The actress who plays her is at her best, and most convincing, when she's a little bit sinister with her kids, like convincing them to believe in and tell lies. Jason, this is your real father, CeCe is your girlfriend and not your sister, and no, you never had a playmate named Charlie. I won't even get into the transgender issues. I'm still mulling that over, but it is not sitting very well with me right now, mostly for reasons others posted above. Is Tanner a dirty cop or not? Or did Sarah just not call her? Also, if Aria gets with Noel Kahn in the books, why the fuck didn't we get to see years of Noel Kahn, and instead have to watch Aria dirty dance around her high school teacher/creepy spy for years? I never read the books, but to find out upthread that there was real potential for so much more Noel Kahn (you really do have to use his full name!) on screen--this might be the thing that has me most angry with the writers right now! OK, not exactly, but close.
  2. I think I found the potential hairy armpit, but I'm calling it potential because I can't tell what's going on. It's in the twerking section of prelims, and flashes for not even a whole second (I think it's 10:11 or 10:12). She's got dark medium length hair and a purple top on. It's unclear if she didn't shave, if it's just an unfortunate shadow, or if it just looks like she needs to shave because her hair is so dark and her skin is fair. I thought I saw a flash of hairy armpit when I first watched the episode, but told myself no way would someone show up like that. But then someone asked here and I got motivated to keep a sharper eye out. I also would like to see how the vets prepare for auditions! Even if that just got folded into the finals episode, it would be cool to get a glimpse. I recall Mackenzie coming by Kitty's prep class, as the only vet, and Kitty gave her really valuable advice. But it would be cool to see them working on solos, taking technique classes, and/or watching them learn the auditions routine. In rewatching this episode, I started wondering about Kaitlyn, who I thought was quite pretty and was surprised she didn't get into finals. I'm not sure about the logic of taking someone who looks and dances like Taylor or Colby over her. Maybe she messed up in the dance more than the episode showed. While it's awesome she earned academic scholarships to SMU, I was kind of wondering about her family's economic crunch as I watched her rehearsing in that beautiful in-home dance studio with dark wood walls and floors. (I can see the living room or family room through the doorway.) Crisis or not, good for her for taking the reins of her own education, and I'd like to see her try out again next year. Oh, episode 2, how are you still more than 24 hours away?
  3. I read the Bryan Broaddus post about the ego getting in the way, and I looked at the comments. Most of the comments were as confused about what/who he meant as we all seem to be, but a couple mentioned someone else by name. One fan tweeted back: "If she was there, then no room for Helman. Helman rarely tweets anything relevant about the team he works for. Sad." I'm guessing "she" might be Sydney. Then someone else posted about this Helman guy, saying he was a "welcomed addition." So my guess is that Sydney got bumped from this because of this Helman guy, who's some sportscaster/radio personality, and Bryan is sad because he likes Sydney. As a DCC, she often tweeted reminders to listen to Bryan's show, Talking Cowboys, etc, even when she wasn't on an episode. It makes sense, though, to hire an actual sports broadcaster of some professional repute over a former cheerleader, even if she knows the game and players and talks sensibly about sports.
  4. So well put. It's not possible, and the writers aren't even going to try. I'm with others thinking that Rhys isn't Charles. He's showing his face way too easily, though it's a pretty face, and since I can't have Noel Kahn, I don't mind glimpses of some other pretty boy. The idea floated above that Rhys and Clarke are cops working together isn't crazy, but I do think fooling Charles to hire a DiLaurentis look-alike to fake-head up the Carisimi Group seems like a stretch. Which probably makes it perfect for this show. Clarke is a bad and creepy undercover cop. Did he jam the dark room door shut with Aria inside just to meet her? His creep factor might have just gone up in my mind. If he works for Rosewood PD, then that is perfectly appropriate--trap a high school girl who's been kidnapped. The moms were funny, and awesomely like their daughters, but also foolishly like their daughters. Sure, Veronica, charge into the basement because you hear a noise, and drunkenly confront the man who was cuckolded by your husband and his wife. I thought a few seasons ago that she was behind this, or at least involved in Jessica's murder. I'm not so sure about that anymore, but I still think it's plausible (Veronica has been on the show from the start--she has excellent motive--she has access to court records and police files--she had a nervous breakdown, hello Telltale Heart). At the very least, Veronica knows more than what she's told viewers or the drunk moms, and I'm suspicious of her getting tipsy and dropping half-secrets to the crew. Leading the ladies down to the basement to all get trapped together seems like a good deflective cover if Veronica did kill Kenneth and bury him in the basement. Just saying.
  5. I'm stupidly happy this show is back! I thought the first episode fit pretty well into the MTT premiere episode formula, so it was fun but had nothing too surprising (except for that poor girl puking--and they did show her kicking with a new group, so I'm glad they gave her another chance). I hope that the introductions to various girls actually continues throughout the whole season, rather than tapering off after the third episode like last season. I loved Auto Amy last season, but I agree with others that her "tearful" desperation feels like a bit much. At the same time, right when I was thinking that as I watched her, I was kind of impressed when she said she'd tried 4 times and this shows not to give up on your dreams. And then I was like, go girl! Her hard work and determination to dream were two of the things I really liked about her last year, so it was nice to see that she really hadn't given up and was getting further with her goals. I loved the other Amy, and I like her blonde hair. Though I agree the cameras didn't show her doing anything especially impressive, I could see that she has technical skills, and her videos from college dancing showed precision in her moves and good showmanship. I definitely did not think she looked heavy in the middle or thighs, as someone mentioned upthread. I also liked Kat, but I find her dark brows a little distracting with that blonde hair. I'm not sure she really did the leg up-spin thing we saw so often. Editing determines what we see (and don't see), and I caught several moments of repeated footage in this first episode (including of the DCC dancing, and I'm like, really, y'all don't have enough of a variety of footage of DCC after 10 years that you have to show the exact same clip within 10 seconds, and like 3 or 4 times in an episode?) Oiy, Christina and Taylor. I didn't care for either when they auditioned last season, though I am sure they are both sweet girls and it's clear they work hard. Christina seems so mousy, I don't love her dance style, she was clueless about kick technique, and she was so very, very tanned, except for her armpit. Not feeling it. I also don't think she was cut "only" because of her injury. She got all kinds of critiques in TC last year: "pastel" dancing, knocking herself off balance, looking awkward, plus shitty kicks. As for Taylor, I thought she looked way better dancing in this episode than she did in her fan vote video, as I recall, but those kicks are crazy. Regarding the debate upthread about why try out if you can't kick vs you can work on it and improve during training camp, here are my thoughts. If you can't kick, like Taylor, don't even bother to try out. Mackenzie Lee is our standard golden girl for showing that you can improve over a summer, but she'd been working at it already, and then was seeing a PT regularly. Plus, Mackenzie's kicks were way prettier to begin with, kicking with straighter legs and more pointed toes than Taylor's bent-knee ugly kicks. Taylor said she's not the most flexible person (duh), but she thinks she has "what it takes" to get them up there, and I was like, so why haven't you done that in the past 12 months? What will be different in a summer that you couldn't do in a year? I was so gratified to hear Jay be the one to say that Colby was too skinny!! I am not feeling her at all, and remember being shocked at her popularity during the fan vote in the spring. I don't like her looks or her dancing, and then I heard her speak and thought, what kind of Texas British accent is that? Then I read the posts here and see that she only lived abroad a few years as an adult, and I realize she has the Gwen Paltrow fake English accent thing going, which does not endear her to me at all. With the clip they showed of her dancing in semis, it's hard to believe they took her into finals. She was just bouncing, not seeming to dance, and making a kind of scary looking smile. I think she was my least favorite of the episode. Can't wait for finals!
  6. I see that CMT has posted the premiere on their website already, BUT it's not working! It says it was posted 3 hours ago, but there have only been 3 viewers, which makes me think technical problems. Ugh, between this crazy premiere time, the no show on iTunes, and the malfunctioning CMT website, I'm feeling teased and thwarted by this whole premiere.
  7. I think, but don't know for sure, that they film several of Kitty's audition prep classes (she runs a bunch and folks sign up for different nights, and I think that's where the idea of DCC prep classes came from that they run through the DCC now)--and then they pick which to show according to what class(es) have the most girls who make it to TC. It's not unlikely that the producers have some kind of hand in encouraging certain girls they think could have a chance/story lines into a couple classes together, because I'm sure they don't film all of Kitty's classes. Now, I have a very important question, and my apologies if it's been addressed in another thread that I didn't see, but: what's the deal with MTT 10 not being available on iTunes, and the show airs in less than a week?!?! I am so excited and so distressed at the same time! I don't have a TV, so I usually watch when each episode is posted online, but then I also like to get them on iTunes because the viewing quality and ads on CMT's site drive me nuts. Does anyone know why the season isn't available, or more importantly, if/when it will be on iTunes? Thanks so much!
  8. Found these short vids of Mary dancing. https://instagram.com/p/2qtePZiQjL/?taken-by=murdill https://instagram.com/p/2qt_QsCQkV/?taken-by=murdill She's a very clean and sassy dancer, and I hope a DCC for years to come. Thought I'd share since we've commented on how little we saw of her last season. I also saw an Instagram pic that Caila posted wishing Mary a happy birthday (can't find it now), and saying what she most loves about Mary is that she wants to help people be the best version of themselves. Mary just sounds, looks, and dances like an amazing young lady of class and substance--just wish we got to see more of it on the show! Hope we hear from her this season.
  9. I"m very glad to see that it seems Robin still is in TC! I thought her audition dane video was very strong. In general, though, I know little of the TCCs, even if I'm learning some names of who gets cut, I still have no real idea who they are. Getting very excited for the show to air and to watch the auditions! They don't deviate much from the episode 1 formula, but I always love watching semis and finals.
  10. I can only assume the point of letting the parents and cops know was to prove the incompetence of Rosewood's police and parental units. Emily's mom is the only one kind of making sense, in trying to get her kid to see a therapist. But they're all pretty ineffective. People complain about the show's inconsistencies, but I'd say terrible parents and police have been a constant. That's something, I guess. As for Ali's dad, ITA he's a major douche, and I think we don't yet know the half of it. I'm guessing he hasn't revealed all to the police because he's done more than he's admitted to his kids, and has been involved in criminal activity that he doesn't want outed. I was convinced that Spencer's Mom had killed Jessica DiL, but don't remember why I didn't suspect Mr. DiLaurentis. He and the Mrs seem to lack conscience, and she cheated on him at least once--maybe he killed her to keep their multitude of secrets? Or he knows "Charles" did it and is afraid to tell because then all his skeletons will fall out of the closet? Awesome head waving and beeping. I heart Hanna and Spencer.
  11. I agree that Spencer and Hanna made the episode. Hanna's outfit with the little yellow skirt, necklace and heels was perfection--fierce and sweet, just like my favorite liar. Yes, Hanna trumps Spencer by a hair for me, mostly because Spencer can think she's too smart and Hanna doesn't get due credit for her brains. That said, it kills me when Hanna does stupid shit, like bury a gun she's sure her mother used to kill a dirty cop. But my two favorite liars were in full force this episode. I loved Hanna's look of total terror when she thought Spencer was leaving her in Radley with a kneecap in a tub, and that Spencer was just getting something to fish it out. The total terror and total fearlessness of this show are part of what I love about it. It seems like many folks were disappointed with this episode, but I have to say, I found it to be one of the creepier episodes. The dancing thing really creeped me out, and I assume the place looked familiar to Spence because she certainly got around when she was in Radley. I'm so glad that Mona is back, and that she returned with such fabulous shades! I presume she's not as traumatized as she's pretending to be, though I do not doubt her trauma from getting into way scarier shit than she had intended when she took up her little sinister game back in the day. Doll houses are pretty much always creepy to me. One that holds you hostage in that awful yellow ruffle shirt? No, thank you. I agree with a few others that Sara is probably the one in the hoodie. I will give the actress the benefit of the doubt and presume that the bad acting is meant to be a hint that Sara is a liar, but not a good one like our beloved foursome. Emily should resist that ass, but I'm not sure she can. It will be interesting to see if Ali gets jealous. I also agree with others that Ali might not be as broken, or as reformed, as she's presenting. We know she's not trustworthy, and as the one who was not in the doll house, I don't see where/when we saw her hit a breaking point that would really make me believe that Ali was repenting, or scared enough to back off her games. I don't believe she was Silas's victim, so I don't know what the motive/resolution was in switching from "she's a menace" to "aww, poor Ali." Btw, what ever happened to Silas? The last I remember, some vague figure was menacing him in his hospital bed after Hanna and Aria visited him for info they didn't get, while Silas was all bandaged from some terrible fire or something. Did A kill Silas? Also, while the season's alleged "answers" are pointing to finding out about Charles, and/or who is posing as the banished DiLaurentis bad seed, how does this really connect to A, or A's Army? Did "Charles" kill Mrs. D? Oiy, total confusion.
  12. OK, I don't know how they're organizing this website exactly, but all I did was click on "DCC" on the top of the Danielle article I posted above, and several more articles on DCC and TCC popped up. I hope they do keep this up! Again, sorry if this is a repost, but here are some links to other articles I found, mostly by the seemingly sweet, but fashion-challenged Kristie Scales: On Jenna http://www.5pointsblue.com/from-orange-county-to-korea-to-valley-ranch-jennas-dcc-journey/ Jacie's training camp "diary" http://www.5pointsblue.com/dcc-diaries-training-camp/ On Karen TCC http://www.5pointsblue.com/viva-mexico-karen-lopez-is-a-dcc-rookie-hopeful-from-monterrey-mexico/ On Amy TCC http://www.5pointsblue.com/tales-from-dcc-training-camp-amy-trader-is-biomedical-engineer-neuroscientist-with-a-patent-pending-on-a-study-project/
  13. Thanks for that video of Jessica M, LaurenBrook! MTT overlooked her too much, I think, so I enjoyed hearing more from her. She's an amazing dancer, very articulate, and I thought she was one of the most beautiful girls on her squad, which of course is saying something. I scrolled through some pages and didn't see this, so my apologies if this is a repost. I found this interview that Jacie did with Danielle, on the same page as the Camp DCC video with Jennifer. It looks like the Cowboys website is starting to do more articles on the DCC, and it's nice that journalistically minded DCC like Jacie are contributing to it. (IIRC, Ally Traylor was somehow related to journalism and did a lot of blogs and articles too, back in the day.) I thought her interview with Danielle was great--very charming, and showed Jacie's admiration for her team mate and gave more of a glimpse of Danielle as a DCC and person than we see just on the show. Here's the link http://www.5pointsblue.com/dcc-spotlight-danielle/
  14. ITA KellyAnn3. She was one of the standouts for me among the audition videos for the fan vote, and one of my ten I voted for. From what little I saw (6 8 counts?), she's a technically trained dancer with great stage presence. I agree with others that the weave is not that flattering and ages her face, and I hope they gave her a great makeover. They are hit and miss with hair makeovers for black TCCs, but last year they totally rocked it with Alexandra's. I think it helped a lot that they had black hairstylists who knew what they were doing--not that one has to be black to really know how to deal with natural and "amended" black hair, but it does take real training and skill. I recall that Jackie Bob's hair was underwhelming after her rookie makeover, as was Jacie's. I've loved Jacie's hair since her second season on, though. It really flatters her face, and I like that she's got her own style going on rather than long hair like everyone else on the team. I'm not sold on Taylor, for all the reasons everyone has stated in past weeks. My bet is K & J like her work ethic and they are keeping her either because they're hoping she'll improve enough to make the grade, or because they want an underdog for the show to follow through the final weeks/episodes. I'd like to think they wouldn't be so cold as to keep someone around only to build suspense for the show, but I can't help but think it's a possible factor.
  15. She does look very thin there, and she was called out for weight at least her last two seasons, but as a rookie and a 2nd year, Veronica had, IMO, one of the best bodies on the squad. My bet is that she started gaining weight as she got older and her metabolism slowed, and that the stress from trying to control/limit the weight gain impeded her ability to do so, and now that she's off the squad and out from under the microscope and DCC scale, she's better able to maintain her weight. Last season she said she worked out every day, so it's not like she was slacking off, and bodies do respond negatively to stress. My heart hurt for her last year. She seemed so unhappy and frustrated with her body (which most of us would kill for) , and I've just always thought she is beautiful and charming and seemed like one of those DCC who's as lovely on the inside as she is on the outside. I wish her the best!
  16. I totally agree, LadyMsJay! Hopefully, they'll feature Jacie, Jenna, and Jessica more too, since they are leaders/seconds now. I repeat myself on this one, but I am such a fan of Jenna's, and have been since her first audition. I was really rooting for her, and Jessica, to be chosen as seconds last season. Jenna has had more screen time than Jessica, but it's clear what a great dancer Jessica is too, and how much K & J have liked and respected her since day 1. I must say, even though we've been discussing the team's decrease in diversity with the departure of ladies like Veronica, Kim, and Jasmine, the group leaders and seconds are quite the diverse bunch. Two African American (one mixed-race) ladies, one Asian American, and two international ladies out of eight is not bad!
  17. So, Mr. D is spinning a story that "Charles is dead," which I'm sure will raise some question about whose dead body is lying in some unmarked grave behind Radley Sanitarium, which will be hinted at in some file the girls find in the race to recover Radley records. My word, did every family in the town try to hide its shitty secrets and spouses and love children in this place? Now that Radley is back in the picture this season, and it seems that powers that be want to erase the secrets and endless potential for medical malpractice and criminal cases behind its iron gates, I wonder if we'll get to find out what the hell happened to Toby's mom there, or the blonde girl that we were led to wonder about being Ali's half/sister. Is that too much to ask? And what about big Rhonda, who didn't buy Aria's volunteer poser bullshit? Speaking of Aria, way to repress your trauma, girl. And I wonder what she'll find/snap on her film? Another thing, off topic and of lesser plot importance: Why do Hanna and Aria have matching haircuts? I like them, but feel like it's not much of a change from all the girls having the same hairstyle to all the girls having two hairstyles.
  18. I don't mind seeing some of the struggle--it's all part of making the DCC, after all--but ITA, it would be great to see more background and intros on more of the girls who DO make the team. I know we've said this before, but, DUH, CMT, take note, please! I also would love to see more of the group leaders and their seconds working with each other and their groups. These are the cheerleaders that the DCC and K & J think most highly of, as performers, ambassadors, and young ladies, and I'm so curious about the work they do, like on nights that K & J aren't there, how they help struggling rookies, and I especially would love to see/know more about Holly as point girl and leader of group 1. She's so overlooked on the show almost every season, and she seems so talented, sweet, and down to earth.
  19. By the time I clicked on Karen's links y'all posted earlier, her stuff already was blocked, but I had to LOL that she Tweeted Kelli to ask for something so mundane--or anything, really. Not a good way to convince K & J that you can be trusted on appearances! Do I recall correctly that she was the girl from Mexico? I hate that one of few TCCs of color is stepping out on such shaky ground. What I could see shows someone very young, and seemingly immature. As we say down South, bless her heart. I think Colby looks too skinny and too shredded. Don't get me wrong--she's in absolutely amazing shape. But I find everything about her too...hard, I guess. I think her face would be prettier if she gained even 3 pounds, and she'd likely look a little younger too. It's the SJP effect. I'm definitely intrigued by some of the girls in TC--thanks to all for posting links to Instagram vids etc!--and look forward to seeing them on MTT. Of course, I won't be able to wait that long to find out who made the team...
  20. This woman didn't make it into TC, did she? http://www.dallascowboys.com/galleries/2015/05/13/dcc-auditions-final-round-part-2#277141 I'm curious to see if we find out why. Did she think Tom Brady was a Cowboy or something? She's pretty, totally fit, and has great flexibility and technique, and as people have been noting here, there is a need to increase the diversity of the squad, which has decreased the past couple years. I count 5 women of color in the rookie class. Wow. She's in TC, right? http://blitzweekly.com/gallery-2/nggallery/gallery/dallas-cowboys-cheerleaders-auditions-050915/image/050915-dcc-auditions-bw-17-jpg/ I kind of wonder what is happening here--It looks technically proficient, yet a little strange... http://www.dallascowboys.com/galleries/2015/05/13/dcc-auditions-final-round-part-2#277361
  21. I thought most of the vets looked vet-worthy, even if I didn't love everyone's choreo, but I agree with others that Rachel looked off. Maybe something really is going on in her life and she's mentally distracted and it's affecting her performance. Breelan's solo and outfit fell flat, and she looked like the least in shape vet of the bunch. I think the season-long predictions on this site that Breelan is in jeopardy are very correct. If she and Caila came in at about the same level as rookies, her blonde friend has left her in the dust, I think. Ashley P's solo seemed kind of low energy to me too, but her toes were pointed (which will please Judy). Jacie is an incredible dancer, but I bet she's kicking herself for her small flinches in her insanely difficult turn. I'm sure that will in no way impact her making the team and being in the triangle. It better not! Someone upthread said they hoped Jasmine got cut because she had not improved at all, and I don't agree. IMO, her technique has improved, but it's true she's not the best or snappiest dancer in the bunch. I don't think that matters. Nicole B was never the best dancer, but she was a great team dancer and brought a lot of herself to the team that her teammates and Kelli and Judy respected and appreciated, and I think this may be similar with Jasmine. I was watching an episode from last season, and was impressed with how pretty Jasmine's kicks looked, so she really has improved and can hang with the team in a lot of ways. Of course Melissa rocked, and I'm so glad she got to close the solos. ITA it's not fair for anyone who has to follow that act! I could watch her dance all day, and she is such an impressive young lady all around. I agree that Lacey was incredible, but I disagree with someone upthread that she should have done hip hop. I think she's deeply trained as a lyrical dancer, and that she's totally in her zone. Definitely one of the best and most charismatic dancers on the team. Little Jenna brought it, of course, and Kinzie's dancing was just gorgeous. My computer froze for a second when Kinzie did a leap, and it was a perfect 180 degree split that seriously looked like it was 4+ feet in the air. She dances with such grace and the most precise and beautiful lines. I liked Erica's solo a lot, as well as Ashley N's, Jessica's, Jennifer K, Mary's, and Danielle's. Holly looked great as usual, always so fun to watch. I liked Paige's energy, but somehow I'm never a big fan of hers. For someone who got called out on weight gain last year, I'm not sure big billowy sleeves was the way to go for costuming. I think it's so hard to judge from the 18 seconds we get about the quality of the performances or the choreography. I'm so glad they posted those clips this year, though! Little things like these clips to help sustain me while I wait impatiently for MTT10!
  22. Here's a link to a cute article about the test the DCC and TCC take for auditions. ESPN got a dozen Cowboys players to take the test, and only one got most of them right! http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/columns/story?columnist=reilly_rick&id=4491594&sportCat=nfl I heard Kelli a week ago on some audio cheerleader report giving examples of the test, too, but I can't find the link now. The questions about Cowboys history are incredibly specific, and I didn't know a single answer. (I did know some to the questions in the article above, at least.) It seems that finals interview questions like name a current running back or how many yards in a football field are soft ball questions, so to speak. Flunking the test doesn't exclude someone from TC on its own, but it can impact making the team. Y'all remember little Zoe and Ashley getting nailed with Cowboys questions in rehearsal and getting the axe?
  23. Wow, that sounds like serious drama. I kinda wish the Dolphins cheerleaders had a show, too! They are right up there with the DCC, IMO, and I love how diverse their squad is, in terms of race/ethnicity and global representation. I know a former DCC ran their team for a long time, so it doesn't surprise me that they give Dallas a run for their money. Ten vets is a LOT to cut. I know Brooke Sorenson Nix is a choreographer now, so I'm even more interested in them! As for the videos, there are some very talented dancers, and I reminded myself that they'd all just learned the dance and to cut them a little slack. At finals, though, of course they'd better nail all those moves and make them crisp and big. I was pretty unimpressed with racer-girl Taylor's dancing and fitness level; Ashley Paige was stiff in her neck and back STILL and I thought totally ho-hum on power and interest--she must have been scared because I thought she was less stiff last year, which is saying something. I'm with others in my surprise that Cami didn't make finals, and I really really hope we find out why on the show. Amy Simone was not stellar in her video, but she was fun to watch and her moves were MUCH cleaner than last year. How much she polishes the routine before finals will be key, but I'm really rooting for her. As far as diversity, I think the talent pool is a little deeper this year than last year, and I hope some of these girls make it through to TC. I'm blanking on several names, but I liked the lady from Mexico, the girl with the curls (Robin maybe?), and I thought DeAmber looked pretty good. There were several other dancers of color I liked as well. I always think Whitney is cute and she reminds me of Mia with her long legs and dimples, but she's just a mediocre dancer. Too bad! I have to say, I disagree with others, in that I thought it was much better choreography than last year. Some of what was unappealing was the execution. It's a fast and challenging routine, and it includes a number of elements that will help judges with trained eyes see if they have the makings of a strong TCC: double pirouettes, high kick, quick level changes, hair flips, and lots of sharp, isolated movements. Performed cleanly and with sass, I think it's a very DCC routine that would read well on sidelines. Someone like Holly, Jacie, Ashley N or Jennifer K would kill it and make it look so fun, I think.
  24. So with all of these Kim dramas now and discussions on this forum, I felt compelled to go back and rewatch part of season 2. I can't believe I forgot how crazy Kim was that season! I think it was more mystifying to me then, because the show had not been on so long, but now I see scenes that seemed weird then but now just seem like classic Kim behavior: lies, deflection, aggression, and then this disturbing cutesy/innocent facade that she puts on in interviews/confessional scenes. I was shocked to rewatch the final Hawaii dinner scene, when Brandi spoke up about no one thinking Kyle was crazy and that Kim could not be helped until she wanted it and that Ken was not helping the situation. It was odd to hear her speaking coherently, without dropping endless insults or screeching like she does, and sounding mature about substance abuse. #shocker As for Kim's performance on Dr. Phil, her lies-deflection-aggression-innocent act (I'm so sorry, kids, and I am beating myself up so harshly here, you shouldn't feel the need to call me to task for anything) was in full force. I think that what I found most shocking was how Kim talked to her kids after she left the interview and they were trying to convince her to accept the treatment offer. She used that scary mean Kim voice on them and just said, "GET OUT!" You know the voice I mean. If she is talking to her kids like that on camera (at this point the camera was in the hotel room with them and not loitering outside the closed door), I can only imagine how she gets when there are no audiences. I believe that she loves her kids (almost as much as her dog), but she has subjected them to and treated them with a lot of cruelty and genuine insanity over the years. But no matter how much she loves them or Kingsley, she loves codependency more. Even while looking directly at her kids during the Phil interview, she couldn't bring herself to say that she'd get the help they were begging her to accept. And poor Kingsley, Kim clearly preferred having a creature who loved her and was so protective of her that she chose repeatedly not to manage a fucking pit bull properly, and knowingly encouraged patterns and aggressive behavior that repeatedly have proven dangerous to others. He bit like 5 people! I'm sorry, but I would never keep an animal in my house that I thought for one millisecond might be dangerous to my own children or to others'. I find that inexcusable, and not just because of poor Kingsley.
  25. Cami Branson is insanely gorgeous and if she can really dance, she would be a DCC media darling with all those followers. I clicked through a few photos on her IG page, and have to say though, I found some of the hair and makeup for those cheer performances kinda strange, like a Minnie Mouse sized bow with equally large, helmet hair and such intense makeup I kept thinking Stepford wife. Oh, the world of Texas cheer, pageants, and big hair--it's a whole other aesthetic. I wish the show included some explanation about the candidates they recruit during the year, who get "passes" into semi-finals. I wonder how many there are each year, and think that would bump up the number of candidates a little beyond the total of preliminary auditions candidates. Maybe 20? Does anybody know more about how this works? I recall reading that Katie Marie, for instance, was recruited and got a pass into semis, and I think Sydney did too. It's interesting to me that Cami, who certainly would have been seen by DCC scouts, is starting at prelims.
