  1. I think that training session came later, if I remember from the discussion here when it happened. I really hope they show that in a future episode because I want to know how it went down. :)
  2. I was shocked that Jackie told them in the office that she hadn't known that her performance was a problem, but now that she did, she'd work on it. I feel sure that she'd gotten comments on her dancing in the studio--she looks so off, how could she not? That level of unawareness doesn't bode well. Emily still has a similar level of cluelessness. She seriously said she wants to be one of the best on the team, and I thought, really? You think you have a chance at being better than Lacey, or Erica, or Jenna, Megan, Melissa, Holly, Robin, Jessica...?!? How can you not know that your technique is so lacking? Again, such lack of awareness suggests a limited ability to improve for either lady. I'm not a fan of either, in large part because of their dancing. But I agree Jackie's flat delivery is also a turnoff. Emily started to win me over this season--I couldn't believe she even made camp last time and did not care for her dancing or looks--but she impressed me with how much she'd improved her performance and looked more polished this year. That is, until she opened her mouth in Kelli's office. Now I'm like: Bye, Felicia. Point your feet on your way out the door. On the other hand, in the upcoming episodes I want to see more of Jessika, Tess, Maggie, and Khaylyn dancing and talking!
  3. Loved seeing the group leaders announced! I especially loved Jessica's enthusiasm & cute little "yes!" with a fist pump. She's been a favorite of mine since her rookie year. I actually like the backstories on the TCCs, but not the way CMT does the sob story piano music & staged shots of girls looking pensive (Ali by the river, what?). I don't need these girls to have sob stories--to me, I like just knowing a bit about them & that they have insecurities & goals & a bit about their dance backgrounds. Just introduce them! Forget the cymbals & tiny violin in the editing room. Yes, most everyone has encountered mean girls/boys/adults (Ali), & most everyone has some physical trait that makes them self conscious (Maggie). That just makes them more normal & relatable, which makes me like them more. Melissa looks a bit more put together, but sometimes I think she tries hard to look like she's not trying hard to look cool. I just appreciate that her shirts aren't longer than her shorts this year. I'd take the pockets hanging below the hem of her Daisy Dukes over the no-shorts/bottoms look any day. Heather O was my favorite of the audition fan vote videos, so I was a bit like, step off my girl during that call with Kelli. But I did see that she can step up her performance pizzazz. Get it, girl! Tasha does seem sweet, but she still seems a bit plastic to me, in a barbie way. I can't believe they didn't tell her to use a significantly softer pink lipstick in her makeover! I think that, combined with the new hair color, would be so much prettier. When she said her hair felt so much more natural, I rolled my eyes so hard it hurt. Pretty sure none of that blonde is natural, even if now it's all her hair. On the flip side, I don't think Tess likes her curls, which I found fun with the ombre color. She had it wavy in the next rehearsal. I like the curls, but maybe the waves look more polished & glam. Is it bad to go against your makeover so soon as a rookie? I think she's very pretty & a good dancer, but I wonder if she's getting called out for more pop. Hope they introduce her to us! Michelle Keyes indeed is a beautiful badass & choreographer! I wish we'd gotten to hear her talking to K & J about her thoughts on more of the candidates. Who really impressed her? Who did she think has potential, but would benefit from her power dance classes? As for why didn't they say this or that in the office meetings, they likely did say some of the things mentioned in this thread. As folks note, the office editing can be especially choppy for time & drama. Kellie doesn't usually hold back, so I'm thinking she lays it out there. Re Kelli's kind of bitchy remarks to Kelsey, I think it was fair to let her know that she hasn't won Kelli's trust yet. If they can't confidently send her on appearances she can't be a DCC. Knowing what a linebacker does doesn't mean she's thoroughly informed or an engaging & reliable ambassador. And those ends of her hair looked awful, so I was like whatever on that one. Think I saw Jenn K at the boot camp too. Do we think she got a warning, or just is trying to set a good example by participating & staying on her game?
  4. Thanks, y'all. I only can see the first episode of the season on cmt.com, so I will go to Amazon. Dying to watch!!
  5. ARGH! I bought this episode from iTunes, and I keep getting two different error codes about why it won't download. Is anyone else having trouble downloading the episode?
  6. Does anybody know who fell doing kicks across the floor, in the preview clip for next week? And is that the same blonde who does the jump split way early in the season 11 preview clip in episode 1? Not sure if these answers are considered spoilers or not.
  7. Totally agree that this was such a fun episode! The editing was good but also frustrating, mostly because I wanted to see more. And because they kept saying Mandy was from like 8 different cities (ok, 3 or 4), and I kept feeling so confused about whether she was the same person, or multiple girls who looked shockingly alike. Really like Mandy, though! Great dancer, beautiful, articulate and an accomplished small business owner--impressive! I hope they soften her hair color just a scootch. As for who wore what (and was it appropriate?!) to interviews, I don't think Tess wore the bandage dress. They show her walking in at some point in a cute but not especially body conscious dress. I bet lots of candidates get marks against them for what they wear, but being groomed in comportment and presentation is part of the DCC training. So Kat, a 30 year old and a vet, definitely should know better. That said, I totally agree that what counts as sexy vs trashy in DCC Land is a fine line I don't always understand or agree with. Kat's dress was ill-fitted, her hair and accessories were messy and somewhat juvenile--all kind of surprised me. But I do remember thinking last year, in her intro segment, "Wow, cute outfit, but that's a pretty short skirt to be wearing with bare legs to work!" So maybe there really was something more behind her scolding beyond her interview outfit. I agree that calling a vet last would have been way more dramatic than calling Amy. If it was Melissa, as some have said here, that would explain her less than ecstatic demeanor when they briefly showed her walking out of the stadium. Bless her heart, really. She did look heavier to me in the vets rehearsal (I didn't notice Megan's weight gain as others have). But I remember that Melissa lost a lot of weight to make the team in the first place. Some excellent detective on this site once found an audition picture of her from the year before her rookie season, and she was noticeably heavier. I know weight has been a struggle for her, and it just makes me admire her more for the way she's transformed her body to be a DCC, and how much more human it makes her, you know, because it seems like gravity doesn't apply to her dancing. Keep it up, girl! In addition to loving how Kristi Scales fought for the vets and underdogs, I also thought she looked great! She was wearing some makeup, and has colored and styled her hair a little, and I think it makes her look more polished and prettier, while still looking like herself. Bravo, Kristi! At the same time, woah, Charlotte, wtf are you wearing at finals??! I was digging her red blazer when all we could see was from judges table and up, but that dominatrix pleather-looking skirt is awful. And I bet a cow died and she spent a lot of money on that skirt. My mom always said, money can buy a whole lot of ugly. True. That. On the topic, I liked Judy's finals dress, but not her semi-finals look. I thought that was a rare miss for Judy -- the tented A-line dress + cage sandals didn't work for me. But each item was cute on its own! Looks like a great rookie class. Glad for Auto Amy and Madeline, but I'm not a huge fan of them as DCC yet. Of the ones I've seen so far, I really love Maggie (and her resort-style backyard!) and Heather O, but I do like a lot of the girls so far. I remember Heather O was my favorite dancer from the audition videos in the spring, and I thought she wasn't that pretty and I worried if her looks would affect her chances in camp. But now that I see her on the show and not in a tiny video, she's gorgeous! Maybe the judges had mean things to say about Jenna, and that's why they didn't show the discussion. I also was surprised she said she thought she deserved a spot in TC, particularly because I thought she was one of the least captivating DCCs her year. I wasn't that impressed with her audition video, either. She lacked the snap I'd expect of a vet. Interesting that they didn't introduce Selina among the comeback girls yet. I think she looks great--a clean performer and more mature beauty--and I hope we get to see more of her in camp. (I wasn't a fan last year because of her interview quote mishap, but she's young, so I'm past it.) Glad they didn't bother to mention Shelby. Hunter had no idea she should have been embarrassed by her level of ignorance and distaste for reading anything ever. Even before seeing that, I hadn't loved her looks or dancing. She's good, but doesn't draw my eye, and I dislike the open-mouthed expressions she makes when dancing. Not sorry she got cut. I was definitely sorry to see Royesha and Kaylee cut, though. But I loved both of their responses to the outcome, and really hope they both come back stronger next year. Can't wait to see the start of camp next week!!
  8. I thought it was a fun, if standard, first episode. Will of course have to rewatch, as I learn more of who's who. Definitely some standouts in the episode, but that's out of the little dancing we actually saw. Hope that's not a predictor of the season to come! Can't wait for finals episode!
  9. Re Kelsey making mistakes in every number at Meet the Team -- ouch! Very bad. That's kind of letting down your whole team at that point. Once you're in the uniform, it's not all about you, and you need to pull your weight to look like a solid unit. I'm so curious to see how she's portrayed this season. I have not been a fan of hers the past two auditions, based on her horrid interview performances, but folks on here have sung her praises to the extent that I decided to reserve judgement. But I have little patience for people being unprepared or ignorant when there's not a good excuse (poor public education, for example, would be a reasonable excuse in many cases, but definitely not this one). And if she's just not good under pressure, that's unimpressive and not up to DCC standards. She clearly had a certain performance power, but now it's sounding like she also hasn't worked enough at improving her dance technique on top of this. Being gorgeous and sweet (as some here have said she is) isn't enough to be a Dcc these days. So, I shall see come next week (yes!!!) what I think of her this year. As for Erica being behind the point, that's a bit tricky and did surprise me. Usually taller girls have that spot (Lauren, Kinsey, etc), which makes sense. I'd thought Lacey would be there. It's great for filming games, which is probably what they care about most. And there's the whole limited blondes factor others have mentioned. Too many brunettes together (or blondes) make for a visual blob, so I get why they have Melissa and Amy where they are. Maybe they preferred having her more centered than in the front row but far down the line, like Lacey is now. Kudos to Claire for making the front line, though!
  10. Jinelle was all over the swimsuit calendars this year, so I don't think she's always shunted to the side. Plus, she's a second leader this year, so she'll be front and center for all the sideline routines. I think she has gotten prettier over the years on the outside, but she always had seemed like a truly lovely person, which I deem far more important. Loved seeing her talk about her grandmother in one of those DCC videos--I think it showed a lot of the kind of person she is. I'm glad she got the back cover and a calendar month this year! Nice for her to get that kind of validation, since there's always been so much varied talk about her appearance. I was a bit surprised to see Maddie so prominently placed in the squad photo. I think she does look prettier this year, but haven't seen enough (due to the summer media lock down) to totally revise my opinion on her appearance - which was that she's cute but not DCC pretty. But makeup and styling can do wonders for a baby-round face, so I'm prepared/hoping to be wowed. I don't care that much that some girls on the team aren't that pretty to me, since I presume they are great dancers and have personalities that make them more attractive. I like that looks aren't everything for the DCC. I've never heard that Erica is a mean girl!! I don't want to believe it! Say it isn't so! She seemed so sweet when featured her rookie season, and I've been a fan of hers since. I'm also not ready to believe that Megan is a mean girl, just based on hearsay about one incident with Kyndall. I'm not sure what happened, since I only read about it here, and that's not enough for me to judge. And woah, Kat supposedly wore an inappropriately skimpy dress to the finals interview!? I hadn't heard that before either. I can't imagine that got her cut (I saw her audition video), but I could see it adding to the performance strikes against her. Bless her heart. (Lol, my phone predicted "bless her head.")
  11. I like Holly's red, because I think it makes her fair skin and eyes pop, in a nice way. I think Claire's red is too intense. It looked so fake to me in the swimsuit photos that it was distracting from how photogenic she is. As for Jenn K's rookie cameo, I forgot how rough it was! They didn't directly show it on MTT her rookie year, but clips hinted that she was awkward during the photo session. That hair certainly wasn't her fault, but it definitely added to the mess going on. I think she's worked at taking better pictures, and clearly has taken good hair styling tips from someone other than her rookie stylist. I think she definitely rocks the girl next door glamour now.
  12. From last season and watching the audition video, I just didn't think Kyndal was a very good DCC-style dancer. So I currently am imagining that it was her dancing and performance that got her cut, just like last year. I think Kelli in particular really liked her, and wanted to give her every chance--like last year, after bombing one of the last practices, and Kyndal asked for another chance to prove herself and then couldn't pull it off. As for the look of the rookie class, I also have thought that several weren't that attractive, facially I mean. But I expect some will improve their makeup and styling as they move in the DCC world. Already, some rookies look prettier to me in recent photos than I thought they did at auditions. I also appreciate that sometimes girls are chosen more for their talents and personalities, even if they're not drop dead gorgeous. I think that speaks well of K & J, and just might send a message to some (especially young girls) that looks really aren't everything. My favorite rookie from the audition video is an amazing dancer, but I was worried because she didn't look cute or pretty to me and I thought, if she doesn't get a great makeover, that could get her cut. Happy to see that she made the team!
  13. Cowboyritas? Love it! Maybe I'll whip up my own version for MTT bingo rounds. Feel free to share recipes with me. I've never made a margarita, let alone a Cowboyrita! But seriously, I can't imagine what it costs to take a family of 4 to a game there...
  14. Regarding diversity & the DCC, I agree with posters on various sides of the coin. I think the team should be as diverse as possible to reflect their claim of being "America's Sweethearts" for "America's Team," and there definitely are some years the team is more diverse than others, depending on retirees and rookies. I've always been surprised at how few Latinas have been on the team since I've started watching (S3), given their location in TX: the Trevino sisters, the Torres sisters, Lacey, Mia, Malia Morales, Selina, and maybe Jessica Allison. I may be missing a few, but the point is that's not a lot. Posters who say that the NFL cheerleading world only wants X number of black, Latina, and Asian girls etc probably are right in many instances (Miami Dolphins cheerleaders seem like an obvious and valuable--and beautiful--distinction), as this kind of "quota logic" prevails in many ways still in our society. More than thinking there are rigid quotas, though, I think that many people (directors, fans, owners) like it when "ethnic" ladies don't look "too ethnic." I don't see this as a hard and fast rule, but I do believe our society has cultivated certain beauty standards and tastes that favor whiteness. I think it was very interesting, and rather suggestive of this, that Jacie went natural with her hair shortly *after retiring, not while she was a DCC. I think Khalyn, Cersten, and Selina are beautiful young ladies, but they do fit aspects of the DCC aesthetic mold. That said, Khalyn, like Jacie, appears to be darker skinned than many of the women of color who make the team, and with this new squad, just over 20% of the team consists of of ladies of color, which is not something I'd sneeze at. As many discussions here reflect, to have the dance training and resources to prepare, audition for, and make this (and other) professional dance team takes money that not everyone has. I believe that is a serious factor influencing the diversity of of TCCs and the DCC, in terms of the racial, ethnic, and class makeup of the team. All THAT said, I've been impressed, when looking at squad photos over the years, that there pretty much have always been black women on the team, going back to the 1960s and 1970s. I mean, we're talking the Deep South, in what was practically, if not legally, still the Jim Crow era. So I do give the team props for having a history of moderate diversity. And some of those ladies back in the day did sport some impressive Afros!
  15. Whew, that was a whirlwind of forum reading! Can't believe how tense I got until TXStar wrote that they announced the team. Devastating for the girls who got cut at the end, and probably a bit for their fellow TCCs. I'd like to think that K & J make cuts so close to the end, not so much for dramatic effect, but because they really like the girl(s) and want to give them as much time as possible to make whatever improvement demanded of them. Increased flexibility, working on memory, and developing technique all take time. But I'm sure they consider the drama too! As for Ashley Paige, in looking back at an earlier episode, I think that she must have come off as rather uptight and uber-composed, and therefore potentially less genuine, near the start of training camp. They had a conversation in Kelli's office, and Ashley said she felt like she still was on an interview and trying to put her best foot forward. K & J seemed to feel like she either wasn't being herself, or that her self was unpleasantly uptight. I believe that was nerves on Ashley's part, and she did loosen up some after that. Too bad she couldn't loosen up her dancing and her spine, though. I think she otherwise could have been a good representative and ambassador. So it goes!
  16. "Loosey goosey" "Game-ready" "Noodle arms/noodley" "I want this more than anyone "
  17. No, I can't imagine Jenn K, Danielle, Lacey & Co dancing like that, because they are far better dancers and total professionals! Even if there wasn't set choreography, those ladies would actually have a game plan and execute real moves, and probably look way sexier doing them. Folks are right that DCC have some very provocative moves, and there's nothing wrong with that, to my mind. But those moves look way better when you really work it and have a clue what you're doing! More than a trashy or not question, this video illustrates to me the difference between the DCC and some other professional teams--they really do have the highest standards for preparation and quality of dancers.
  18. I don't have a judgement on whether the Snoop video was trashy (so I guess I don't think it is), but I do think that the dancing looks, as some others have said, like some random girls got up on stage spontaneously. Except that they're all wearing the same unremarkable outfit. While the video is short, the dancing looks like a hot mess to me--sloppy and unplanned. Vivian almost looks lazy to me, and they get totally distracted when Dez B gets on stage with them. In that sense, I do think DCCs would have done better than that--more polished and committed--even if they were doing similar moves. To me, the dancers in this video just look thoroughly unprepared. Snoop is a professional performer and I imagine he was looking at these dancers like, wtf is this? They looked like total amateurs to me. Hard to believe their director put them up there with so little preparation.
  19. I feel like I lack significant information about Yuko's visa issue and the conversations she's had w K & J to levy any real judgement about (un)fairness or criticize what she should have done when. I'm hoping the show addresses this, but I don't pretend that "reality" TV gives me the full scoop on anything. Everything is edited for effect and time restrictions. So I don't know that we'll get the full story even when the show airs. Sigh. I feel similarly about most mysteries on this show -- I always want to know more!
  20. It's certainly the most I've seen of the rookies dancing this summer! But I haven't been internet sleuthing, either. Even though I'm seeing the names of those who have been cut, I hardly know who any of these rookies are, unless they've tried out before. It's fun--I get spoilers, but most of the rookie class is unknown to me, so I still have to wait for the show to see who's who and what's what. I will say that I feel sad for Emily, because she must be so disappointed and hurting right now, but I don't feel badly that she won't be a DCC. She may be a sweet girl, but I think she would have stood out in a negative and distracting way on the field and sidelines. The video posted on the previous page of the thread just confirmed it for me--she's not a great dancer, and seems slightly out of control. I care way more about that than her eyes and frozen facial expressions; those just make me enjoy watching her even less. No idea who the other two are who got cut, but of course it's sad for them, and probably a number of their almost-teammates. Can anyone tell me why, how, or when Kendall lost her job? I hadn't read that til tonight! Last season she said she supports herself, so that would be a big deal, and potentially devastating for her. Was she taking too much time off for training camp? Curious about the saying no to Melissa and talking smack story; I feel like there's much we don't know (as with pretty much everything with training camp, and well, with reality TV), so I'm holding off on any judgement.
  21. Visa stuff can be crazy, even when you follow the million instructions to a T. A friend of mine got a job working abroad, and also had to go to another country for a family wedding while she was abroad. She did all the paperwork prior to leaving the US, the embassy took several months longer to get her the visa for the wedding, got it back to her just before she left...and it was the wrong freaking visa. Instead of a 1 year visa (the wedding was like 9 months away), they gave her a 6 month one. She actually ended up stranded in France for a while (not where she was working), to try to get it all fixed, and hundreds of dollars and a week later, she finally got to go. My point is, Yuko may have done everything as she was told to, when she should have, and there could have been some kind of bureaucratic snafu that jacked all this up for her. Or, she could have screwed it up--who knows? I agree it will be interesting to see how it's played out on the show, and hopefully it's not overdone. And hopefully it's explained, or I can see about 50 forum pages of debates and speculations on this once the show airs (sort of kidding)! I think it's interesting that there are such strong and diverse reactions to Auto Amy. I'm not really sure what I think of her dancing (she's good, but I don't know that she's fabulous), but I'm rooting for the working-class girl who is going hard for her dreams. I don't think she was raised with the social graces polish of many DCC belles, or with a lifetime of studio dance classes. I think she's worked admirably hard to get to TC, and I'm impressed with her never-give-up spirit. As for being likable, a team player, and a dynamite dancer, I'll just have to wait and see when the show airs!
  22. I suspect Kelli Q git passed over in years past because of her look, not her dancing. As for Selina, weight may have been a factor (not that I noticed this last season), but she also rushed her counts and looked younger than other TCCs. I think she looks more mature and prettier this year, and I hope her dancing has matured as well. She was a good dancer, from the glimpses I saw last season, so I'm hoping she's advanced to great--on the beat, power in her moves, and livelier to watch. Not that I'm a Melissa fan, but I don't blame her for so many of the girls she's tried to help getting cut from TC or only making it one season. They are sent to/selected by her because they're struggling in the first place. She's a reality TV "star" and former DCC, not a miracle worker. That said, as a TCC, I'd be pretty bummed to be sent to her, given this history of minimal success! I just rewatched the episode where she met with 6 or so TCCs last season and LOLed at the way they edited her advice to Kaylee - - "Break out of your shell" - - like, gee, why didn't she think of that?
  23. We don't even know what they were doing there. They might not have been drinking, or dancing. Maybe they just wanted to be out in the world, visiting with fellow TCCs! Maybe they each had a drink. Maybe they ate some French fries, or some celery sticks. I don't see the issue. Being terrified of being seen or photographed in public doesn't seem that healthy to me, even if TC is coming to a close. Should they not go anywhere with alcohol during football season either? I think the girls smart enough to comport themselves properly in public will do just that, and those who aren't, may or may not get caught. None of these girls know when their last night will be -- I totally understand wanting to enjoy the city (especially if it's new to them, they're from small towns, and/or they may be headed home if they get cut). I for one think it's great that they have fun in the city and with each other outside of scheduled DCC activities. They're busting butt and deserve to unwind--even if they have to be on their best behaviour while doing it!
  24. Woah! Thanks for the concise yet juicy summary. Guess she's never ever, ever getting on that team now! Speaks very poorly of her that she's dating (or dated) a person who behaves so rashly and talks about women like that, especially in public forums. Tack-y, to say the least. This story makes me less shocked that Shelbi would refer to someone in a public forum as a "commoner." Obviously she doesn't know that's not classy behavior. So it seems that there's more than just her dancing that is ill-suited to the DCC. Glad I didn't vote for her in this year's auditions!
  25. What's the Shelbi boyfriend debacle? I haven't scoped out her social media like others have, but she does strike me as quite privileged and had a certain air of entitlement on the show, especially when she started crying to Kelli, Judy, Kitty, and Melissa that she was sure she had the same potential as her close Cheer Athletics friends who made the team and how devastated she was that she didn't get the same chance. It's interesting to me that the CA girls seem to struggle so much with auditions and TC--several in the past years either don't make the team or become one-year wonders (except Caila, who made it two years). I'm sad to hear Kat didn't make it to DMD, and that Caila apparently didn't try out. Very valid point, that any dance team that takes KD multiple years has some other priorities or standards for selection. Mystifying, yes, but apparently true. Definitely will be intrigued to find out WTF with the TCCs performing in uniform. Also curious WTF is with that awful music--it seemed like a weird song to try to dance to in a performance like that. That camera work was ridiculous--why even post such an unsteady and blurred video??--but the glimpse I got of Maddie wasn't wonderful. I will be very disappointed if MMT season 11 becomes the Maddie Show. Or the Emily Show, because I can't even with that girl.
