  1. Man, Women Tell All is such a ridiculous episode...it's such a statement on how much this show preys on drama: "Let's just stick all of the rejected women in a room together and let them argue about things long past!"

BUT yesterday was International Women's Day so I thought I should give my gender a break for the day and try to name some of the things the ladies did right in my weekly blog series...here's the link if you feel like checking it out:

  2. Since he didn't ask any of the ladies's dads for "permission" to propose, maybe that's who he makes the last-minute phone call to in the preview?  They could have easily programmed in the cell numbers of the final 2 dads for him to reach out to on the last day.  They've made it a point for the Bachelor to ask permission for the last few seasons, so it stood out to me that it didn't happen.   Or maybe we won't see anything about the phone at all.

Or maybe he called his mommy to come pick him up.

This is a brilliant idea...I hadn't even thought of that. Of course Bachelor Ben (the most vanilla of all Bachelors) would wan to ask permission first.

In case anyone is interested, my thoughts on this week's episode are up for my Tuesday Walk of Shame Bachelor blog series:

  3. While at JoJo's house, I said to my friend, who was watching with me, how familiar her brother Ben looked.  We looked him up.  He was on a NBC dating show called, "Ready for Love".   I guess it runs in the family. Click on the link and then click again on Ben Patton for a bio.

    http://www.nbc.com/ready-for-love

You'd think he'd be a little more understanding, based on his past experiences ... or maybe that's what's making him so jerky, because either (a) he knows from experience how much a Bachelor-type figure messes with the heads of the girls that are vying for their attention or (b) he's jealous of how much better of a Bachelor Ben is than him.

  4. Lauren didn't seem like she was enjoying the basketball date and every time Ben leaned in to kiss her she ducked her head and moved to the side. Don't know what this means but I was surprised.

Maybe she's just not comfortable with PDA? I know I'm not, especially when in a room full of children who are watching you incessantly.

  5. I don't like Olivia but have to give her props for actually putting her hair in a bun during that windstorm. As Emily matures, she'll learn never to go anywhere without a scrunchie...

Emily literally had a hair tie around her wrist! You can see it when she lifts her glass while talking to Ben. But she wouldn't be as pretty if her hair was up...???

  6. I hate the "wake the girl up" thing that they have been doing.  It's ridiculous and not entertaining in the least. I know they have to do it early because it's usually a way out of town.

I agree...I'm not sure what this accomplished other than making me think that Amanda was either tipped off or sleeps in lip gloss.

  7. Heavy sigh – the women squealing over the big message from “Ben” (or, in reality, The Intern Tasked with Creating a Big Lighted Sign in Las Vegas) was just too much; hard to take so early in the show. How embarrassing for every single woman alive on the planet. Ladies, when it’s a romantic gesture from ONE man to a DOZEN women, IT’S NOT ROMANTIC. Stop shrieking.

I was embarrassed for each and every one of them. It was like they concentrated everything wrong with these women into one simple moment.

  8. Adding fuel to my "Toby and Caleb are dating" fever-dream:  Toby says that they went fishing together one summer.  That was the cover story that the protagonists of Brokeback Mountain used to hide their trysts.  Coincidence?  I think not!  #TeamTaleb

Love this! I hadn't thought of it at all, and have to say that I'm pretty down with the Spencer and Caleb thing, but this would be an awesome twist. I'm really not a fan of Toby but this might redeem him just a little bit.

  9. I would like to see more knowledge shaming of these contestants. Geography, spelling, arithmetic, anything really. That segment could have been the full two hours, and I would have enjoyed it tremendously. It's so sad that everyone thought Indiana was landlocked. Give me more of this shaming!

I know, right? As opposed to concentrating on ho the girls look or standard slut shaming we should focus on these ladies brains...or unfortunately their lack-there-of.

  10. Canadians who grow up in Canada have it easier.  10 massive provinces and 3 territories should be easier than 50 way smaller states.  Not excusing the girls who made the errors, I just don't agree that "at least they're not Canadian".

On this discussion...for the record, I am Canadian and could definitely have placed Indiana (or any state for that matter) better than any of those ladies. There is no excuse to not knowing the geography of your own country...let aloe world geography.

  11. I think Ben has possibly been created in a lab by the Bachelor Producers with the intention of him growing up to be the perfect Bachelor...because he is perfect for this show, exactly what they would want. And because of that he's a bit boring...especially if you're less about the romance & more about the drama of this show (as I am).

Also, I have just posted my thoughts on this first episode on my blog (as part of me "Tuesday Walk of Shame" Bachelor Review Series) if anyone wants to check it out :) Tuesday Walk of Shame: Bachelor Ben's First Impressions

  12. Unfortunately that "chat" with child star Abigail Breslin just illustrated why so many actors need somebody to write the words for them.  She said nothing of substance and looked like she was participating under duress.  Maybe she's desperate for any kind of screen time. I hate time wasters like that.

Agreed...she was brutal. You'd think she would have prepared a bit before hand, thinking of questions & comments, answers to likely-to-be-asked questions. Or at least have got the yapping dog out of the room before calling in...

  13. Does anyone else follow along with past contestants on twitter while they live blog the show? Because if you don't you should seriously check it out! Tanner (@ttolbert05) & JJ (@jjhlane) are freaking hilarious!

  14. Their having sex doesn't bother me (except Nick, ew, and I hope they provide condoms) but their PDA sure did.

    I totally agree with this.

I know I am a biased member of Team Kaitlyn, but as a consenting adult I think she can do whatever she wants with whoever she wants. Even if the "confessional"/talking head clip were filmed at a later date, I do believe intimacy is important to Kaitlyn. That being said...her and Nick were very inconsiderate to those around them on their date (as mentioned by multiple people already in the thread). They were in a church for goodness sakes! I also agree that it's a comment on her character (and perhaps intelligence) that she just jumped into bed with up to 3 contestants pre-FS (depending on what "news" source you're looking at). Have some forethought sweetheart...this will obviously upset EVERYONE.

  15. And don't forget the Chuck Taylors, and the douche-bracelets.  Everything about Nick just makes me want to punch him right in his face.

Those bracelets! Ugh the bracelets. I couldn't even handle it.

  16. And I don't buy for one second that Britt is looking for a husband. Honestly I don't think either one really is. So I can't hold Kaitlyn's being someone who makes jokes, especially if she's nervous, against her anymore that I would the fact that Britt is no more looking for a husband but rather extending her 15 minutes of fame.

I'm not choosing sides...Just Kidding! I just wrote a blog post called "11 Times Kaitlyn will be better than Britt" where I imagine season with both of them in it the whole time.... I agree that Britt is in it for the fame...not that Kaitlyn's intentions are completely true but I trust her reasons are a bit more "right" than Britts.

  17. This thread is the greatest thing ever.

I have so many ideas in this regard...I have an entire weekly blog series pretty much devoted to how The Bachelor could "suck less". (Tuesday Walk of Shame if you want to check it out.) My biggest one is including some contestants or even a Bachelor(ette) who isn't in the Bachelor stereotype. I realize that was their intent with Chris but now he's on Dancing With The Stars so it wasn't exactly a success.

  18. I've been away on vacation an missed so many wonderful chances to watch & post with you all. How dare i go away during Bachelor season, haha. I just caught up and topped it all off with the Women Tell All episode...which is always my favorite. There are just so many opportunities to judge all of the ladies.

And in honor of that I decided to play around with my weekly ratings & ranking of the contestants on my blog...if your interested in how public opinion (or at least the opinion of myself & my local viewing party) changed through the season you can check it out here: TWoS: Women Tell All Bachelor Contestant Ranking Analysis

  19. I liked Kelsey at first and thought she seemed smart, but her saying "I love my story" is so disrespectful to her dead husband. Doesn't she get that his friends and relatives might be watching this? What about her boss at work and colleagues? And why was she so happy one minute and then running to the hallway to cry?

This episode was so awkward. First the Love Guru. Then Jordan. Closing the door with Britt. Then Kelsey...oh Kelsey. She seemed so stable & normal and now she seems like a psychopath who is more interested in marketing her website than honouring the deceased love of her life.

I felt uncomfortable most of this episode.

  20. I'm not sure if this has been discussed yet but I didn't see it as I just skimmed through everyone's comments...

My favorite thing about this episode, other than the excellent one-liners...accidental or purposefully made, was the Producers (which is what I call all of the behind the scenes Bachelor people) blatant 'favoritism.' Chris's real-woman, down-to-earth sisters are coming? Better hide all the crazies and little girls by sending them off on a camping trip! Let's just leave the selection of mature women (or the closest we can get to mature women on this show) for them to choose from...because we all know that the rest are just eye candy meant to tempt him away from people who might actually work in his life. It's exactly what I would have done...which is not something I usually say about this show.

I write about it a bit more in my weekly Bachelor blog post: Tuesday Walk of Shame - Call Me Princess Farm Wife
