  1. That just... sucked. Incredibly anti climatic and unsatisfying. They had about 4 episodes of material this season stretched over 8. I haven't said this about a slow in a looong time, but I regret wasting my time on it.
  2. I made it through an episode and a half. It's almost good, but just fell short on almost every measure for me. So many missed opportunities.
  3. Watched Friday for the first time in forever. Was Sunny always this insufferable? Jesus. Just let Alyssa finish her fucking sentence and stop jumping down her throat!
  4. Did Brad just inch out of the closet there? He made some comment somewhere about his brain not working as fast as he gets older. That was on display this episode - I fear he is not much longer for this show.
  5. This episode proved that is really a game of momentum. Victoria lost it during at the end, and just couldn't get it back.
  6. Given the cast, I was hoping for better than the show turned out to be. Not great, not terrible, just kinda there. I hope Rachel's followup is better.
  7. Nothing that hasn't been better covered by other posters. What a fucking mess. I especially hated that you could see the wheels turning. The conversation at the end of episode 6, right after the "one month later," was some of the hackiest writing I've ever seen. Yes, we sold the house! We're so happy! Oh no, a phone call. Who could that be? Like, Jesus!
  8. To be fair, those 1.7 million viewers cost NBC $40 million+ a year. The 950,000 remaining will cost them pennies. Sad reality, but it's also why NBC wants to ditch the 10pm hour. Nobody watches network TV anymore, at least not live.
  9. Two episodes with people at the compete opposite ends of the spectrum, Lauren and Jermaine. The poor woman on the second half. You could tell she was incredibly frustrated with Jermaine. Watch her when she says allegiance after the buzzer. If looks could kill... Pledge of blank! Dude!
  10. I adore Rachel Bloom so I highly enjoyed this one. All of the celebs were great players. When's the last time we had one of those episodes? Its rare that the contestants can't keep up with the celebs, and that's what we got here. It was nice. They really made it broke their own games. I figure they buried the Abbott Elementary stars in the second half because Janelle's gameshow comes on right after. I also have to learn to separate Janelle from her character because I was continually shocked at just how smart she was.
  11. He was in the hot tub that Neil puked in. Blink and you'll miss it.
  12. Both Tuc and one of the Ford brothers are in Uncoupled with Niel Patrick Harris. Tuc is a much more major role, of course, but the Ford bro is still a hottie.
  13. It isn't dying - it's dead. Nothing on the networks can even capture a 1.0 rating in 18-49s anymore. If it weren't for the backend (VOD, streaming), the networks would have folded already. Now than anything, they continue to exist as a first-look service. DOOL's key demo is around a 0.2 right now. You can't get much lower than that. At least with viewers playing to watch, demos won't matter.
  14. Let's think about the numbers: the show's weekly budget is probably around 700,000. I remember reading that figure about a decade ago - there have been cuts, but also inflation, so it could still be around the same. AMC and OLTL online cost around 125 an episode. That's 2.8 million a month. The show would need to bring in 560,000 subscribers just to cover that budget, which is about a third of its audience right now. Commercials will bring that down a bit. That sends like a really real order, frankly. There will definitely be changes, and I assume the first will be a move to fewer episodes. On the other hand, for a regular hour long scripted series, you're talking in the millions. DOOL is a pittance compared to that.
  15. The other soaps won't be far behind. All of the numbers are terrible. GH will probably move to Hulu next.
  16. Weakest episode of the series by a long shot. It felt far to sitcommy, which this show usually deftly avoids. Aside from Deborah's bombing, Hannah on the dingy was just... embarrassing to watch (and not in a good way). At its worst, it felt kinda lesbian-phobic, trotting out one stereotype after another. Who wrote this?
  17. Ratings are pretty marginal - they're probably winning what the store can afford to pay out. That was... awful. Were they this bad on the original iteration?
  18. Deepti is not unattractive, at a minimum.
  19. Super late to the party, but I don't even know if I can finish the episode. The dialogue is as corny as fuck. This show went down the shitter real quick
  20. Shake is an asshole, he treated Deepti horribly, but he's also 100% right. The show is fake, the premise is fake, and he called it out. The others can deny it because they came on the show wanting to "find love," but they're all fame whores to some extent for going on a show like this in the first place. They're all reasonably attractive - I doubt any of them are having issues with finding people. Shake is at least honest about it. As for Deepti, she could have walked away at any point. Shaina did. Less camera time though. About Natalie and Shayne - Shayne seems like the kind of guy who wears his heart on his sleeve. Natalie is the kind of person who makes snarky comments. People like Natalie often hurt people like Shayne because they take those comments at face value. I am a Natalie. I have to remind myself that words have power, and adjust my level of snarkiness to my audience. Natalie clearly has not gotten there yet, but I hope she does.
  21. I think the first episode was easily the best. The further it went, the more plodding it became. By the end, I just didn't care anymore. I generally enjoy Toni, and seeing Terry O'Quinn was a treat. The rest? Meh. Bad acting, and bad dialogue. What a waste.
  22. A mildly entertaining series that completely shit the bed in the last episode. When the scriberia journalist set cheering for Anna, I wanted to throw my computer out the window. What a complete load of horseshit. Which is a shame, because an episode 8, they seem to be making a really interesting point that Anna was a sociopath who didn't care about anybody but herself. But that all went out the window with the last episode. Two things can be simultaneously true: the rich get away with murder, and Anna is a sociopath who nobody should feel sympathetic towards. II like seeing the sprinkling of Scandal peeps, though. At least Shonda is loyal.
