  1. Thanks. I thought it had been reported on TV Guide or similar. This is what strikes me as so frustrating. I would assume that his exit was already planned or at least in the works and SR had communicated that with the writers to have to take that into account with the stories and make changes to it but like you say, it was handled badly. As they usually do.
  2. Can you point me out where? I missed them, so I'd like to read them. Thanks. So, essentially, they can't develop other storylines because they can't figure one that is completely unrelated to them? Then why do they add more cast if they can't do anything other than focus on one thing? This is just lazy, if true. If he was fired from the show, shouldn't that mean he was terminated from such? I could see part of the arraignments of his exit package being like another contract but I doubt this means that he's still on the show as a character.
  3. I would really like to believe they weren't dropped because PD's dismissal didn't affect any of those storylines. That would be just another example of laziness of the writers, which I've come to expect, but I find this to be just an excuse. My guess is that the writers never expected these stories to become long term and went away after it. This show rarely develops a story well, so I didn't find it surprising but, at least IMO, this is a stretch.
  4. To a lesser degree but she did have a good storyline there. She had her bad moments though.
  5. I'm guessing that EW was bored today... But why, why does Shonda pick the immature tweets? I mean, come on. It's almost like she's asking for that teenage reaction. (Note: I do not mean the hateful racist death threats, just the general teenage hate kind of thing). Probably. My guess is that ABC & PD must have had a confidentiality agreement over it. Although not sure if this is precedented in the exits that GA has had. I know there is the mandatory exit interview with the actor leaving but I can't recall if the actor/actress has spoken about it in the space of a year.
  6. Because some seem to thrive on the gossip that has been going around in terms of explanation that when a plausible reason is presented, people will be like "that was it?" kind of attitude. Others might be relieved it wasn't. Either way, when gossip gains traction, makes a wave of feelings. But it's how I've seen things to have turn out in terms of the show as previous departures have been full of massive problematic gossip (like KH's or IW's or BS's) and it was somewhat expected here, especially with the weight that Derek had on the show. We can agree on that in terms on the cause of the dismissal. I had to Google this because of my dictionary ignorance. I will use this word from now on.
  7. Oh! I was confused because I didn't see the author of the blind items, so I thought it was PD related. Thanks for clearing that up for me! With each passing day, I'm guessing most will be severely disappointed and turn up to be that it was nothing but a (stupid, very stupid IMO) creative decision. The rumors have been changing and adapting to a new circumstance that it's hard to decide what it was: was it the racing? diva behavior? being a slut? There's not even consistency on the alleged rumors and as one new turns up, the dirty tabloids will pick it in, then go to their usual "Jennifer Aniston is 4 months pregnant" and something about Taylor Swift (because why not) and same old routine. For the record, I do believe that something happened (not the affair/diva behavior alleged routes) but that it was perhaps a serious disagreement of opinion on Derek's potential SL and/or PD's time off, as stupid as the latter is as ABC had been ok with it for a while. I just find it very hard to justify the rumors that have been out for a case of dismissal (in case of the affair) or that it wasn't reported before (diva attitude). But we will probably know when Ausiello writes his tell all. I will hold him to his word. Same.
  8. I can only confirm about myself. ;) Although just to be sure, what you refer as "true are blind items that were true" is it about PD specifically or the site in general? Sorry about this but it's confusing me to hell. The "positive" side is that with good PR, it's fixable and maybe could benefit his own career, so people stop seeing him as McDreamy and start seeing him as someone else. (This does not way in hell condone what he maybe did but I digress the "a lot to lose" since like many have posted, there has been worse and carry on.)
  9. Confession: I'm a slut. ;) I think there's an app to generate fake headlines. I'm sure the blind item people use them a lot.
  10. I had to admit, I was one of them. At this point, I might be. Who knows how many more will be revealed! Generally, when high profile stars get divorced, especially with lots at stake -as PD seems to have given his no prenup plan, if there was infidelity, it's pretty quick to know as it might benefit the scorned spouse. If any of this is true and if there are 10 women as this blind item claims to be, you'd think that at least one would've leaked the info already for money or to damage him. The fact that his is being known by blind items (and not picked up by more reliable tabloids) seems really sketchy. To me, anyway. If someone really wanted to inflict serious damage to him, this would be in the front page of People way long ago. That being said, in relation to Grey's, I doubt a simple affair (if any of them it's true, which I'm still leaning to no), would've get him fired, unless it was sexual harassment or the woman in question is underage, or the woman in question was creating problems on set. All of this would immediately shift the blame to PD but I don't believe ABC or Shondaland would fire someone over an affair issue. It's not like PD had problems like the other guy in Scandal. So I'm not sure how this would factor in (unless his contract had some sort of clause in relation to it). I'm really starting to believe that it was a pure plot decision because the writers wrote themselves into a corner and didn't know what to do with PD anymore and with PD rather being racing, they took the shot, didn't tell him and surprise! Next script he's dead. I would really like to believe that it was for professional, not personal, reasons that he was dismissed. Certainly has a better sense of trash level info that could hurt him and benefit her in the settlement. And it makes better sense than the "PD was fired because he did the nasty" headline. Although, the diva one...that one had to be leaked from the set. I doubt that would benefit anyone other than Shondaland. But who knows how this rumor will turn next. It seems to get adapted to something different day by day. That is always a good advice to take. I shall follow your lead.
  11. Obviously. I also think that they plant fake stories to damage someone's reputation and give an advantage to someone else. I do think Hollywood is a shark infested town but I do think that the newcomers are the ones mostly subjected to this kind of gossip, not much more established actors as they do have better people to navigate the boats for them and be able to avoid this kind of issues. I agree. It's fairly easy to leave this in doubt because while there's some truth to it, perhaps not to the person that it's being assumed. Someone's PR people can make the mistake of letting the 'who' out and boom! You got a story. But these are general rumors. Who knows how many people have an affair or are divas. It could be anyone and they're just waiting for that mistake. I had no idea it was because of that. Interesting.
  12. And they said it could not be done. Although glad she switched from her previous "it was an internal family decision" answer, 'cause that was terrible. Also JPJ was really cool and very sweet. It was possible, people! I have to feel terrible for Jo. This was always a problem I had with Derek with the frat house and hate that it is now transferred to Jo. They can't come up with new stuff, can they? And no, Alex and Meredith shouldn't be endgame. But this insane show probably will put them together as a nuclear disaster is heading to Seattle because what disaster do they have left?
  13. I think this is getting out of the Media matters, so I'll transfer this conversation to the PD thread.
  14. Has there been something new invented already? Did Patrick join a terrorist organization? Skin puppies? Is the evil twin that threw his other twin from the rooftop with a shovel? Given the ridiculousness of the gossip, I agree here. I think that if it'd be a more substantiated rumor, maybe it came from higher rankings and it would've been published in a more reliable gossip site (if those exist) but since this is a changing rumor, I heavily doubt SR is in her computer rubbing her hands and deciding what ridiculous rumor to implant next. Maybe she could be an inactive participator (as not doing anything to stop them and only leaving that to PD's PR guys to solve it) but this doesn't seem her work. Don't forget the breakup/no wedding covers. I'm sure they have a stash ready to publish at any minute. I'm not sure who else in the cast had extra marital affairs and I'm not sure it's that important either (and if ABC cares, that's just stupid) to get fired over. This is the easiest kind of gossip in Hollywood to make up as many of these stars have to be extra nice to everyone and that can be mistaken for an affair of sorts. Many have faced these rumors and never substantiated into anything.
  15. Oh, he can. But not based on superstition. Most of the allegations against him are from gossip sites that are as reliable as a baby handling a nuclear weapon. Given that this was not a mutual agreement of departure (as he has expressed) then it was one person to hold the keys. I'm sure he can be an asshole in some cases. No one is that nice all the time. But in this particular issue, it doesn't seem he was the one in the wrong and there's no proof that he was actively doing something that prompted Shonda to act as she did (as the diva rumors seem to suggest). Or perhaps it was just a natural course of action and he was let go for the actual reason of [terrible] storytelling. (Which still doesn't justify the shitty way he was killed. Come on, she could have done a lot better than this.) As for satisfaction, eh, no one get what they wants. Ever. So I don't expect people to get what they want from SR or ABC or the people that don't want to see such things to stop seeing them. Frankly, I'm glad I can finally put this show to rest in my already saturated DVR (and with Supergirl premiering and -did anyone noticed CL was on a falling plane, AGAIN), so at least I can give them that. If we are all about hopes and dreams then yeah, echoing KnitsWithRaceCars, I would enjoy for SR & Co. to stop with the bullshit and just own it. I'd love a "Yeah, we did it and it wasn't totally a wise decision but we fucked up and oops. And now we will show you a different show with more of the same!" Even with those words. I'd even gain a bit more respect for her just for that. I did think that the cast speaking out would have been an appropriate thing to do as in my job, even the trainees who have been there for 10 weeks get a better sendoff than PD did, but that was me. SD & JW already did and that counts. Internet vitriol will always exist and nothing will make certain people happy. Nothing. So I doubt that will ever go away with anything other than burning the internet to the ground. Do Shonda and the actors & crew deserve it? No. Will they stop getting it? No. But if Will McAvoy couldn't single handedly fix the internet, doubt anyone will. All we can do is not do that but call out when it's disgusting. But those are my two very long cents.
  16. Of course not. Now what will they make up next? Same. My entire childhood/adolescence was spent on countless telenovelas. I believe the next "rumor" is that this is Patrick's evil twin. Just wait.
  17. In addition to what kingshearte said, the show tends to show more of a delayed response to grief, rather than immediate. Everyone's reactions towards every character's death has been somewhat delayed. So April fits into the delayed response as the rest do.
  18. And yet, not one proven. The smoke seems to be someone else's and it's intoxicating everything where he stands.
  19. That site also had only Scandal tagged in that article, so it was still a long shot and apparently the Scandal finale will have . At this point, I think it's safe to assume more deaths are coming. As for the gossip itself, they're just throwing shit around and see what sticks and go with it. The diva rumors didn't work out, so let's go with sexual misconduct. Or whatever it was. If it was harassment of some sort or the "young female staffer" was underage or he was deliberately being unprofessional on set, I don't think there's much ground to be fired at. But I'm not sure about ABC's policies on work place relationships or not. I'm wondering what they'll come up with, next. This is getting to telenovela levels. That was fast though. File this under the "No Shit Sherlock" tag. But at least a couple of the cast did speak up nicely about it. So at least there's that.
  20. Definitely. PP, as bad as the show could be sometimes, was a more adult show with more adult stories and writers. While the speeches were still there, they did went on to be on a more mature level, and even Amelia, who was the baby there, acted as an adult. Storylines were deep enough to care and the writers did take their time to create a good path. Amelia's relapse, Charlotte's rape, those were bold stories that were tackled and developed and gone through better than GA writers could ever do or think of doing. Also, the cast was a lot smaller and they could focus on the characters better. I think that was a major factor that helped. This is true. I still hate April though. That one never grew on me. Nor Jackson. Or Ben. Or Jo. And Stephanie. Even Owen. However, it wasn't the case with Mark. And with the addition of Callie & Addison, the writers made a better effort into make them likable characters that you root for them. I haven't seen the same for newish characters.
  21. I think that certainly ABC will push it until they can given the success that TGIT brand is having. They will certainly milk it until they can but a lot will also depend on whether EP wants to go on (which is almost a given), but I tend to believe that they will manage to attempt to go on as long as they can. The hospital is now named "Grey's Sloan Denny Died Here Memorial", so they can try to rebrand EP's departure into the story of the hospital and so on. Sad that that is the only way they can get the show talked about.
  22. I think that it was more about not spoiling Derek's fate, which makes sense. As for a party, I don't believe he would've even attended that, given his current problems. I just made the point of being able to make a goodbye without resentment. Because many of them worked for 10 years with him? It's a common courtesy, not very hard to do. Most of the SO's goodbyes were done by the press (i.e. interviews with the cast by press), which couldn't been done this case prior for the obvious reason that it would've been a spoiler. But was it very hard to send public good wishes for your co-worker of 10 years? Apparently so.
  23. My two cents: The cast (hopefully) did say their goodbyes in private. Given how it seems the news was broken to him (by surprise) and to the cast (by Shonda, not by him and we don't know if he was present), it does seem odd that they couldn't at least say a public goodbye. For better or worse, PD was more well known and people noticed. I don't think that a full year of goodbye was necessary as it would've blown up (for lack of better word) the surprise of his departure but at least a 140 character best wishes and done. It wasn't that hard. Hell, for the love of posts it: just write one and have all the cast sign it. Easy and cheap! I know this comparison keeps getting in (and probably is getting annoying) but it's the best one to make: when Will Gardner died, Josh Charles & The Kings made a YT video and wrote to the fans to explain the why of the departure (so far, we only got PD's) and Julianna + cast spoke about it. It was a nice touch for us the fans to see that happening. This is not how Shondaland works, and ok, but it's noticeable and but there's a way to handle this in a better way and not have a constant black cloud like the one ABC's PR has over their head. It's doable! And this means, what? Many of the cast and crew have consistently tweeted that working with Patrick was always fun and he was a fun guy. Many people don't hang out with their co-workers. This generally means nothing. I like mine but I definitely don't want to hang out with them. It's obvious. Why? We will never know but it's almost shameful how bad they've handled it. Whatever, it's amusing to see.
  24. So did Kelly. What was odd is that KMK tweeted PD's racing Twitter account. I genuinely thought it was an honest mistake but give how things are going in terms of secrecy, who knows.
