Shopping Channel Hosts: Sales Prevention Team

I would imagine that in larger cities a lot of folks are unaware of the VFW, especially if you didn't have any family in the military. I only learned what it was because in my hometown they were one of the groups that had a hall you could rent for bridal and baby showers, etc. Someone of Isaac's economic level isn't going to be renting the hall at the VFW or the Elks or the Knights of Columbus, lol.

Yup, that and the comic book character. Every time I think about that baby's name, I hear Edith calling out, "Awwrchie", lol.

Small Talk: Take A Break From Shop(ping) Talk

You're welcome. My sister and I went down for the day to visit my nephew, to check out his new apartment. We went to the Rusty Scupper (his treat) and then spent the rest of the afternoon at the Walters Art Museum - a place he'd probably never walk into on his own. I dredged up everything I could remember from my art history classes to try to get him to understand the creative processes behind the works. I think I might have succeeded - he kept looking at things when his mom and I sat down to rest. Next time, we'll take him to the Baltimore Art Museum. ๐Ÿ˜ We were literally still too full to eat by the time we left Baltimore and didn't want to get take out from Chap's because we had nothing with us to keep it cool for the 3+ hour drive. ๐Ÿ˜ž Next time we'll be better prepared for food transport. I also want to make a sidestop at Delicious Gourmet, and at that Peruvian chicken place in Baltimore. Yum.

If anyone knows the chef Nick Stellino from PBS, he's offering a free cookbook (PDF format) to celebrate his anniversary with PBS: https://createtv.com/Nick I've always enjoyed his show and his sense humor. ------- Just an aside to the Baltimore area folks, I had a delicious lunch at the Rusty Scupper today, topped off by a slice of Smith Island cake.๐Ÿ˜ We were so full, that we couldn't even go to Chap's for pit beef later on. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

    QVC

I'm way back in my reading of this thread am just trying to catch up. The thing with the Q's main demographic, though, is that everyone eventually ages into it, even as a portion always dies out. Once folks retire, they have more time and inclination to channel surf. Not everyone is an "active senior" like those portrayed in TV commercials, so the Q is likely to catch their eye sooner or later. Though I agree that the "talk show" format is annoying. The Q's strength is to be able to provide much more information about products and demonstrate them in real time. I like during some of the tech shows how they answer the questions that are being asked on social media regarding particulars about the item being presented. That immediate feedback is one of the things that they have over the average website.

I was watching the reporting of the birth on BBC, an interview with a radio broadcaster, and it seems like folks of color in the UK now feel more vested in the country because of that baby. Poor kid's not even a week old and people are seeing him as a point of hope. That's already a big weight for the little kiddo to shoulder. Harry and Meghan were smart to avoid the media circus by having a home birth. I think that they are going to make sure he has a chance to become himself, not what everyone else wants him to be. I do enjoy seeing the folks over there having a chance for some unifying happiness, amid all the Brexit turmoil.

Shopping Channel Hosts: Sales Prevention Team

I agree that it's a useful attribute in a salesperson, and we should accept our bodies as they are. But it's clear that she doesn't see the same thing that the rest of us do when we look at her. How much better would it be if she dressed to suit her actual shape rather than her imaginary one? I often look at her in her undersized clothes and say to myself, "that looks bad on her, and it'll probably look worse on me". So instead of making me buy whatever she's selling, she's visually made the case for me not buying it.

She can't wear straight-line tops, just like I can't. If that yellow top had been A-line, it would have looked much better on her. I didn't think that the green-print pants looked bad on her.

It's not being aimed at your generation, though. It's aimed at women "of a certain age" and those who are Pleasantly Plumpโ„ข, who have avoided bathing suits for years because they are: A) self-conscious about their ageing skin or weight, or B) didn't want to wear the drab black or navy or ugly print bathing suits that were usually the only things available in the plus sizes. ๐Ÿ˜Š

She obviously thinks that the "scrunched nose look" is cute, not realizing that it just emphasizes the Malden-esque aspect of her nose.

Thanks! Been doing hit-and-runs at the Q broadcasts, but more often just checking the website. In RL, I've been doing a lot more reading of late, and watching the Yankee games, when I finally get home at night from watching the kidlets.

I ordered that one, in that exact color, lol. ๐Ÿ˜ I like the "twofer" and the neutral-ness of the color. The Earth sandals with that type of bottom have been very comfortable this year. Earth, also, is one of the limited number of Q shoe lines that carries size 12.๐Ÿ˜‰

    House Flipping Shows

/rant on/ I've just watched several episodes of RBTF, and was coming here to post the exact same thoughts. And thanks for mentioning Diane Keaton - that is precisely who Leanne seems to be modeling her behavior on. She's just too, too cute for my taste. ๐Ÿ˜’ She seems to default to white and black as her main color schemes in every house she's done, that I've seen. I think her design style is bland and pedestrian; I like a variety of decorating styles so it's not that I dislike minimalist or modern/moderne or whatever. There is just no warmth to her finished products, no "I'd really love to live there vibe" to me. I watched two shows in a row where she painted the entire outsides of two houses black; on one she did the trim and door all in black, too. Instead of giving it architectural interest, she turned it into an uninteresting black hole. I really hated what she did with that Victorian, the one where the wife loves doilies and fringe. That new kitchen and the redone rooms were sooo sterile after she was done with them. I bet that woman cried after the camera crew left. And that white chaise for the kids to draw on - WTH? Yes, like parents want to teach their kids to draw on furniture, and who is going to chance sitting on it and getting color stains on their clothes? Thanks for the chance to rant. I realize that everyone's mileage may vary. ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜Š /rant off/
