  1. A large amount of cryptocurrency (a la Bitcoin), but I can’t remember specifically how much was on the flash drive.
  2. All the sewing talk got me to post. I am a quilter! If you can sew a (somewhat) straight line, you can quilt! There is just something about it that feeds my perfectionist streak. Plus, fabric is pretty! What can I say, it’s my zen.
  3. I have been to Ireland and heard the history of the famine. Tragic? Certainly! But one thing that was pointed out to me was that there was no meat famine. These people could have and would have survived had landowners shared their spoils in the form of meats and other produce. Now, how much of the lays at the feet of Victoria, the Catholics or the Christians.....I suppose it is your individual lens. In the end, people didn’t have to die or be relocated because of potato’s.
  4. The last episode was a real tough one for me. I lost my Mom on Jan 6 very suddenly. Since she lived with us, albeit in her own in law suite, I miss her every day. Very happy that she recovered, but boy, were the waterworks flowing for me!
  5. Sure hope Cindarella takes precautions to avoid getting shanked by UBT like those ballons at the party! (I kid!!!! I think!)
  6. @ABay, however you prefer to travel is what works best for you. I hope you felt no judgement from me. Each person has their own preferences and just traveling is the important part -- as we gain experience and insight into other cultures and as I like to say "take photographs in our mind". Our memories from travel are priceless! It's funny....I have an autoimmune disease that makes each trip a bit more difficult, but also have a SIL who has MS who travels with me often, and you can't keep her down. In many trips, I can only recall once where she has visibly "had enough" and needed to call it a day after a full day of going. With our current health care crisis looming, I wonder if I should curtail traveling in lieu of what will likely be a big change in cost in the future, but then think......I should go while I can. Vienna is still in the mix, but what to is as well. I am typically not this ambivalent, but ....... what to do? End venting and whining! Travel on, my friends!
  7. @Mabinogia, he gets no money from rent collection, just a place to stay for free. He must find other employment for food, etc hence him making tool handles. I admire his efforts to utlize another artificial limb that, while better than the period reality, is still nothing compared to his current day apparatus. I did wonder about allowing the single mom to go without paying her rent or suggesting a smaller sum might impact his job as the rent collector. Love all things period England and this show is fascinating!
  8. @theredhead77, if you are going to be in Boston for dinner, check out Reno's. Fabulous italian food!
  9. Thanks, @ABay! Great info, all -- including the white wine. Red? Blech!!! I am actually in the travel business as my part time career, but I love to get others thoughts. Nothing wrong with organized tour package if that is what you like! I think that is what my family figures my role to be and I enjoy it. I hear you on the not enough time when on organized tours -- my husband feels exactly the same! I will have to work on my language skillz to barter when we go! Again, many thanks for your time and input. If I can ever return the favor --- you know where to find me!
  10. @ABay, sounds like a city after my heart! Did you stay in Vienna proper and coulld you recommend a hotel? And, most i,portantly -- red or white??
  11. @ABay, I have not. My fathers family immigrated from Austria, so in addition to going for the beauty of it, I would love to find out where they lived. Unfortunately, I am running in to a brick wall on the geneology pre 1901 when they sailed here. Thank you for the info.......but I just want to clarify ---- did you say wine? ?
  12. Sorry I missed the Reyjkavik post. Just got back and it was amazing. Vienna in September is next on my list!
  13. Re: Going Clear documentary. I watched it yesterday. I didn't pay for it through YouTube but found a link to it in doing a Google search. Also, if you have Amazon Prime and HBO, you can watch it through there. Hope that helps!
