  1. RIP World’s Dumbest Drug Dealer There is an inherent problem with filming undercover or spy scenes. The actor who is playing the undercover person has to convey nervousness to the tv audience, but that always means that in the scene they are wearing an “I’m so guilty I’m so guilty!” expression on their face. In real life they would immediately get caught, and it always takes me out of the scene whenever it happens. We barely know anything about Gemma, so of course she seems shallow right now. However, even from the little we know, she doesn’t come off well in comparison to Mona. Mona was a principled person with a definite worldview, and she did interesting work. Gemma is…a PR person in the fashion industry?
  2. I keep getting distracted by LA’s dumbest civilians. Such as the woman in the opening scene who decided to run right out into the open during a gun fight, thus forcing Hondo to tackle her away from the getaway car. And the boyfriend who wanted to move in with her after six months despite not even knowing what her job is.
  3. Wow that was bad. @Danielg342 has said everything else I wanted to say, so I’ll just stick with this: Powell running up to the bad guy and then getting ambushed by the second guy was so laughable that I wondered how she got into SWAT. Doesn’t she understand tactics better than that? She knew there were two guys to look out for.
  4. Once again I totally forgot that Powell’s name is not Pao. The actress being of partial Asian descent doesn’t help. But at least we have another female regular. I don’t know why the writers are trying to make us think they would actually fridge the newest addition to the cast. I didn’t see Kenny Johnson in the credits. Kind of unceremonious how they dropped him. Then again he was missing for so much of last season that I guess it was inevitable. Does EVERY premiere on CBS have to be a two-parter this season?
  5. I guess every analyst in the JOC is going to have a turn getting in danger at some point. It's too bad this one ended up dead, but seriously, why did he have his badge on his waist easily visible if his jacket moved the wrong way?
  6. Where is Rollins teaching? Is it Hudson? Their President was just murdered, you know.
  7. This probably makes me evil, but I cheered when Duffy shot Douglas. He was such an irritating person. I don't know if we were supposed to feel sorry for him, but I certainly didn't.
  8. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy!
  9. Man, River is a pretty good agent in the moment, but he really is an idiot isn’t he? Didn’t tell Lamb what he was doing, didn’t stop to consider how exactly he could guarantee the kidnappers would keep their end of the bargain, just ran in and bumbled around until the archivist set him straight. Isn’t he supposed to be a professional at this?

I don’t have a well fleshed out theory for why the population hasn’t been told about the other silos, but whoever founded them clearly wanted a totalitarian regime. They also forbid the possession of certain technologies including microscopes. So I’m guessing the Founders were zealots of some sort, possibly religious ones, who thought that technology is the root of evil. They’re not super consistent about it because they clearly allow cameras, but they don’t even allow an elevator in the silo. Have we even seen a form of transportation of any kind? Or an engine? The Founders apparently banned all of it. For what reason? I don’t know. That’s why I’m guessing religious zealotry. It doesn't have to make sense to us if it makes sense to them.
  11. So the thing about births on TV is that when the whole cast comes together to see the new baby, that’s usually a way for the writers to show that they’re all like one big family. But that’s not how the cast of this show works. They actually all seem to have fairly healthy and realistic boundaries between their personal and professional lives. Yes, they know each other’s business, but they aren’t constantly visiting each other’s houses or otherwise getting involved. This is one of the rare procedural shows where none of the main cast are romantically involved with each other! So to have them all visiting the hospital to see the baby is rather out of character. If I have a kid, my boss isn’t coming to see him or her. And that’s the way it should be. So what’s Isobel doing there?
  12. This show always does season finales as if they are series finales. Honestly I think it’s a good practice. The last thing we would want is the series ending on an unresolved cliffhanger, and it’s not a serialized story like many other shows. One of these days the season finale is going to be the actual finale and everything will work out just fine.
  13. I seem to be in the minority. Tommy was being childish. Yes, I can see both sides of the situation, but as soon as Judd started talking to her afterwards, her shoulders went up, she got pouty, and she started giving him attitude about how they both have the same rank. Judd acknowledged that he understood where she was coming from. There was no reciprocal empathy from her side. It was not a good look for Tommy. In the fire, she made an understandable decision. But in handling the conversation afterward, she completely blew it.
  14. Maddie: “He would still be alive if it weren’t for me.” Arrington to Maddie: “It’s not your fault.” Me: “Actually, it kind of is.”
  15. With respect, I think that is a very one-dimensional view of the show. Ted Lasso isn’t simply about kindness. It’s about how kindness is difficult because the world is sucky and cynical but being kind is an admirable thing. Ted gets insulted on the streets and keeps on moving forward with a smile. Sam is subjected to horrible racism but ultimately maintains his positive outlook with his friends and teammates. Roy is angry and disappointed, but he still finds it within himself to hug Jamie when he needs it. And the thing is all of these people are still struggling. Richmond is still on a losing streak. Ted is a mess. Sam is…well, he didn’t get to show up that bigoted politician, did he? Contrast this with Nate. When has he shown a moment of kindness or generosity to another person this season? And yet, everything is just kind of going his way. He is famous and respected. He got a date with a woman he has a crush on. You know who else is having everything go their way without showing any kindness towards another person? Rupert. There is still time, and I do see hints that the writers have a downfall in store for Nate. They seem to know that he has issues with entitlement and insecurity. There is definitely room for him to have to face his flaws. But the question is will there be enough time for him to turn it around and become somebody we root for again? I’m not so sure.

The thing is it seems that Jack invested enough to have a big influential stake. She might even be a majority shareholder. We haven’t been told exactly what the structure of KJPR is, but it’s possible that she has firing power over Keeley. Or to use your analogy, no $100 probably has no ethical impact on whether you can date an Uber driver. But if you invested enough at whatever point that you became the majority shareholder of Uber and you could dictate corporate policies and possibly even set the terms of employment, then no you could never ethically date an Uber driver.
  17. Will has way more chemistry with Hannah than he ever did with anyone else including Natalie. I don’t know if they’re meant to be endgame, but it’s kind of hard to buy into their relationship with anyone else when they are both right there.
  18. I genuinely did not know that Cabrera and Powell were two separate characters until they both showed up in this episode. Shows how much I’m paying attention. Also, I thought Powell’s name was Pao. In my defense, her appears to be at least partially of Asian descent. I think I had thoughts about this episode at one point, but they’re gone now. Huh.
  19. There definitely is some joy missing, but I’m actually thinking it’s deliberate. Ted is sad and upset for good reason. Roy broke up with Keeley, and although we don’t know the exact reasoning, it’s clearly affected both of them. Rebecca is still letting Rupert get under her skin. Everybody is a little sadder than they were last year. It’s not a wrong writing choice. The show would be kind of tedious if it was just silliness and puns all the time. For now I’m trusting the writers to know what they are doing. Hopefully things will turn up in later episodes.
  20. It was in Brooks’ wallet? Meaning Brooks calls that home on a regular basis?
  21. This was a fantastic summary, thank you very much! So now what I’m trying to figure out is how did Perry and Della find out about the catatonic woman (whose name I’ve found is Noreen Lawson). I think Perry got her name from that phone conversation in the beginning of the episode, but I don’t know why he was calling that number in the first place.
  22. I liked the episode and the way the case is unfolding. The problem is I can’t follow what they are discovering about Brooks and his business dealings. They are saying a lot of names and I don’t know who any of them are. Can anybody tell me what we know so far?
  23. Breath of the Wild doesn’t have levels. Do your homework, writers.
  24. I never watched the original Perry Mason. I also have very little patience for people who criticize a remake or an adaptation because they changed things. When I watch a movie adaptation of a book, I don’t care if they change a lot of details or even just completely toss out the original stuff wholesale. Complaining about that stuff is a good way to instantly make me roll my eyes at you. It’s a different medium for a different time and needs to stand on its own. What I’m saying is I am the last person to care about whether something from the original show survives into this show. And yet… The original theme song is pretty catchy. They really couldn’t work it in anywhere?
  25. Poor Nichelle is also totally absent and nobody even notices. 😟
