  1. Now we'll never see Rachel Berry play the beloved Broadway character Segovia Shade. Pity.
  2. It was good to see Rachel Berry finally at peace.
  3. Yes. I never understood how rigid NYADA was. Other than to advance a lame plot point, that is.
  4. Agreed, but that was just one facet of the character. She also had been raised by two stage-obsessed fathers to have only one overriding focus-- fame--and who, by her own admission, had been practically friendless her whole life. RIB brought that into the mix too, which to me is beyond quirky black comedy. It could have been a truly great story of someone who managed to find success without losing her humanity. The potential for that was what RIB also gave us in the character of Rachel Berry, and just didn't have the chops to actually build a plausible and compelling tale around it. .Or maybe they just didn't care to. I don't know.
  5. Reading the passionate posts about how TPTB have messed up the Rachel character only reinforces what I have thought for a long time: RIB invented a character that was far too complex and fascinating for their abilities to portray. It would be an interesting exercise to come up with a list of television writers with the chops to have pulled off portraying her properly. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about the industry to offer up my own suggestions, but would be very interested in hearing from those here that do.
  6. Here was what I wanted for Finchel: 1. Nobody from McKinley got into NYADA 2. Finn got no football scholarship and failed to get into PACE. 3. Facing the prospect of both of them ending up Lima Losers, they pack up Finns truck and just drive to NYC. 4. They find that shoebox apartment and land lowly jobs: Finn a mechanic or tire guy; Rachel a waitress in an outer-borough restaurant 5. Rachel auditions but fails to land anything, so they both decide to study music at a different school. Queens College, perhaps. 6. In the meantime, they form a band with some classmates (called "Finchel", natch) 7. Write songs together and live rich happy lives with nothing handed to them. 8. If Finn dies, so be it. At least he died living a dignified life. And Rachel can struggle on, paying her dues until eventually achieving her dreams.
  7. I have to say Rachel sabotaging the sale of the house was pretty funny.
  8. Exactly. Like in the song, only in reverse.
  9. I was curious as to why Rachel chose to take a Greyhound bus to New York. Perhaps an homage to the song "On Broadway"? They say that I won't last too long on Broadway I'll catch a greyhound bus for home, they all say
  10. I liked both episodes. The first for some of the snarky humor (Figgins was awesome, and I loved Sue's Demotivational poster on the wall). And I like subdued but still strong Rachel. I loved the second episode's obvious homage to the great musical film The Commitments, with Roger's audition song, "Mustang Sally". His character mimics (overweight, but with a mighty, mighty voice) the character of Deco in the film. I actually have hope.
  11. I think the show's creators came up with characters (Rachel and Kurt, especially) far more complex and interesting than their writers could reliably portray.
  12. I'm wondering if the SL regarding her parent's divorce will explore this more.
  13. Oh yes. And then to see her pick herself back up and maybe go at it differently. But please, no finding her destiny in freaking Lima.
  14. I'm hoping a throwaway line by that Hollywood producer about Rachel's FG costar Paolo having been offered something similar (and blamed for the failure of the show) was actually not a throwaway line after all. Perhaps he has some sympathy for her plight and is involved in helping her try and rebuild her Broadway career while she does her obligatory penance in Lima.
