  1. How is Derek going to tour the country with his new show and also judge DWTS, which Krysten Burtt says starts Sept 26, at the same time? https://derekhough.com/
  2. I got this off another messageboard so I'd call these rumors, but thought I'd bring them over to help get the party started for 2023: Confirmed "stars": Ariana Madix from Vanderpump Rules Charity Lawson from The Bachelorette Mira Sorvino is rumored. If she's on, DL will have a field day with her. Confirmed pro dancers: Val Chmerkovskiy Jenna Johnson Peta Heavens to Murgatroyd
  3. Thanks! I liked your post not because I'm happy about the news but because I appreciate your answering. Years ago they split up - it was right after Artem came back to DWTS after working on Strictly Come Dancing for a few years. I don't know if it's related but I remember being curious about the timing. But then they got back together... and now this. Oh well, I hope they're still friends.
  4. I haven't been keeping up for ages, but this really is great news - but I'd rather have Cheryl than Julianne upstairs. (or is the celebuquarium still upstairs?) I know I don't deserve being paid attention to when I've checked out for so long - but if anybody's willing to answer, can I ask if Emma and Sasha really did break up? And if there's any other gossip I've missed (I did read somewhere that Mark isn't coming back as a dancer - weird that he briefly reappeared after so long away.) Anyway, roll on Primetimer - I thought I'd lost you !!
  5. Finally watched and I think surfing the 'net and Youtube has ruined me - I thought the show would never end! And the worst part is after the judges speak, Tyra asks those inane questions in such an awkward way. Oy. It also annoys me that Derek has the voice of a 14-year-old but gotta admit he knows his dancing. (not that it matters when he scores Mel C the same as The Miz - producer micro-managing again...) Oh and at the end of the intro, Len says, "It's been a great ride." And it made me nervous but he did seem a bit weaker? He fumbled for his paddle once, Bruno did too but I wondered if it was to cover for Len - and late in the show, he was mumbling about not being done with his critique... anyway, I'm just a grouch this season. I seem to disagree with everyone else here - I thought Melora was awful. Like a hunched, floppy ragdoll (though the energy was good). Derek did mention she was off-balance but the judges loved her too, so what do I know, but I had her as next to the worst, who I don't need to mention (though his little speech was fine, and considering what came after, a good idea - gonna be a short one, Britt.) Did someone here mention Emma didn't wear her wedding rings? I watched after Sasha and Suni's dance, and the camera showed her cheering for them and I did spot those rings. Whew! I don't know about Suni's personality - hopefully it's just nerves, like others have mentioned, but I don't know... So many upbeat personalities, it may be hard for her. I wanted to dislike Jojo (when I saw her, the song, "Send In the Clowns" popped in my mind), but I really liked her -- even though I don't much like Jenna. A lot of good dancers! and I'll be interested in seeing how they do next week, with the exception of BAG and Sharna who made me want to puke - FF time (along with Tyra's questions)
  6. I found a link on here to watch the Australian DWTS the first season Tristan was a judge. I don't know if the link is still on this board somewhere - or if it still works. You can buy a VPN - it's legal - gives you an IP address of another country, like Australia. Here's a highly rated one that is $13 a month - or $10 a month if you sign up for 6 months – or $99 for 15 months https://www.expressvpn.com/order oops.. that's the link to buy it. Here's the home page that tells all about it: https://www.expressvpn.com/
  7. I swear I remember Tara saying something like she was bring more diversity to DWTS. And then, Keo Motsepe is benched. And after he sadly broke up with Chrishell early this year. Yeah right... Wonder who Gleb's seeing lately?
  8. Don't know if this is ok to put here or not - but on the 3rd of May, Tristan and wife Tahyna had their third child, second son: named Tadhg https://www.instagram.com/p/COerG85jnfF/
  9. But Tristan lives in Sydney, Australia. He also hosts a morning show there now, so he probably would be too busy. I think it's called "Studio 10"
  10. Just watched a "Q&A" with Johnny and Britt on their insta-stories. Johnny said his pick among the finalists was Nelly - and he dropped in some shade about not supporting those with professional dance training and experience.
  11. I'd rather Nev win than Kaitlyn -- but Justina's my favorite. I guess she's a long-shot after being 4th (or 5th) place tonight because the judges' scores were pretty close, percentage wise.
  12. Thanks - I didn't know about Nelly. Whoever would have thought he'd outlast Johnny Weir, who's such a beautiful figure skater. I haven't seen his jazz from tonight - but I have to confess I thought Johnny's salsa was awkward. But he did more salsa than Nelly did jive. If Nelly wins... oy. ETA: I won't link but at "eonline" there's an article entitled: Johnny Weir Divorce Drama: Skater Opens Up About Domestic Violence and Nude Photos, Ex Victor Voronov Responds
  13. Wasn't there some physical abuse between Johnny and his former Russian husband? But I thought Johnny was the victim?? (I don't remember very well - but there was a reality show about it) - is that right, Callaphera?
  14. Maybe I'm being too hard on her, but I cringed when Kaitlyn said her friend who died so young would be so happy to see her get so close to the mirrorball. Not sure why - just seems a bit insensitive to turn it to her trivial reality show success?
  15. Yes, that was brutal the way they handled the bottom three. I think they should have announced the one of the three with the best results from fans and judges - and then let the judges pick the one to save of the bottom two. Pointing out that Johnny got the least fan vote, after hes been in the bottom two twice -- just ouch. And I thought Tyra was trying to talk to him to say goodbye or whatever and he couldn't handle it so he turned and walked away - I could be wrong - need to watch it again. I know Nev/whatsername did a good contemporary, but I thought he looked shaky on his feet when he was carrying her and turning round and round at the same time. Small point I guess. ETA: Sheesh I screwed that up -- it wouldn't work. I guess I wish they'd saved one of the three bottom couples instead of announcing who was worst - then the two who weren't saved could leave together and have a buddy to be in the bottom with.
  16. Again, Maks puts the blame on Britt when it comes to Johnny's lousy foxtrot. He really needed a better teacher and I think all the others are better, from what I've seen. And echoing the previous poster, Johnny's wardrobe choices really annoy me. I don't 'think' it's that I mind weirdness - I loved Bowie, love Eddie Izzard, KISS or the weirdest rockers never bothered me... He just picks such ugly ugly outfits. Ludicrous, silly, like a kid acting out to get Mommy upset? I can't figure it out, but I don't think he's pulling it off as a fashion icon - is that what he thinks he is? And I loved him as a skater - and I think he's very intelligent and generally kind and constructive as a commentator - but man, he often looks like a clown imo. And to what end? To shock us? I just don't get it.
  17. Thanks LexieLily. Then it makes sense Gleb would be there. They need all the audience they can get with the sorta dead atmosphere, without the crowd. Maybe the show asks those who can manage it to show up.
  18. I noticed in one of their practice videos, before the accident, that she wasn't the Cheryl I remembered. I thought she seemed fed up with him ?? She has that new book out about being an abused child. I wonder if this is a difficult time in her life, and AJ's needy or something, and she's just not up for it (though she always puts in the work). He doesn't seem douchey or difficult - but being around an anxious person in a situation like this can be exhausting, I bet. (but then, we don't see everything behind the scenes - maybe it's more than his anxiety)
  19. Regarding Gleb being there - has any other booted pro been there besides Emma? I thought they had elaborate "bubbles" they have to live in. Hope he's following all the rules, not exactly Gleb's forte. Poor Johnny and the lack of fan votes. I want to blame Britt but... well, I won't go there. Could just be that he's too far out from his skating renown and the popularity of that sport has plummeted, since his and Lysacek's day, and even before that.
  20. If this recent affair isn't with Chrishell, then I think Elena has an obligation to say that in the comment section of her Instagram where people were guessing that it was. They noted that Elena usually 'likes' posts of Gleb and his partner after their dances but that after their rumba, she stopped doing that. And just today, she posted (in the "stories" part that disappear about 24 hrs) a vase absolutely overflowing with flowers (sent from some friends I think) - I mean, how can that not be connected to the big bouquet that Chrishell showed off that Gleb sent her. Oh well, none of my bees wax. Very sad for the little girls, but hopefully, they'll be resilient as kids often are. Gleb and Elena do seem to care about them very much, going by photos on their social media of family outings and such.
  21. Finally watched - I've been pouting about losing my eye candy Gleb, but she really was bad. The worst, I guess - such an awkward mover and those feet. Maybe those who blame Gleb are right - I'm not good at judging these things. I 'think' what happened was he was on DWTS with Derek, who made mini-spectacles of his dances sometimes, and also hid his partner's flaws. I remember a dance Derek did with Maria Menounos - I think she was injured? He LITERALLY carried her through the whole thing... BUT, Derek did his smoke and mirrors very very cleverly, and Gleb isn't that talented. But I do think Gleb thinks the whole point is a "sleight of hand" or sham of a dance - and he's sorta right (think of all the women dancing around their partners like a pole dancer.) Oh I need to shut up. He may suck but he's pretty. And I loved their good-natured smiles at the end and his little kick towards the audience. And I'm glad the judges didn't stitch them up - if anything, it looked like they were trying to dump Nelly. Who didn't bother me as much as usual - I think he just has an awkward personality, which I can relate to, so ok, that's who he is. He's not gonna smile glibly when he's nervous or bored or miserable lol. And he did try with the rumba, with floaty arms (more or less). He's the worst left but he was trying - he's not a Master P. Can't relate to Kaitlyn - reminds me of Eeyore. But speaking of cartoonish characters - Johnny! I'm watching because he's on, but those high water pants, sleeveless suit jacket, stupid poofy hair -- I swear, with both dances, I felt like I was watching an old episode of the Marx Brothers or the Three Stooges, where's he's the kook of the bunch. I do not understand his need to look like a clown. Oh well, he's better than Chrishell or Nelly for sure - and also AJ who I find to be too choppy/jerky and his nervousness makes me nervous. And would Nev please put that hairy chest away? I keep expecting them to show him on a beach, wearing a mankini like Borat. Do y'all find him to be a heart-throb? I know these things can be subjective. I'm trying to not natter on and on... but I have to say that Tyra has actually grown on me. And I know that's hypocritical after calling Johnny clownish, but she was a model, which is a silly profession, so just go with it honey -- do it for the big girls!! She's better than I expected anyway -- I never saw her in anything else - thought she'd be all ego but, eh, she's ok. Of course Tom was better, but it is what it is. I'm resigned. (and glad Bruno's still there because it feels like a new show, but that's ok with me)
  22. Me too, TVbitch! I also think Gleb's a great dancer (but I'm not highly-trained yada yada so what do I know). When he had an Olympic gold medalist figure skater on the Russian DWTS, Adelina Sotnikova, they were the runners up. His wife (who was a judge on the show!) called him the "Russian Derek Hough" back then lol - but they did do some gorgeous dances. Of course, she was fantastic so that helped. Maks Chmerkovskiy sorta blames Britt for a lot of Johnny’s problems (and I agree!) Here he analyzes their VW: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLWHXIZQrho
  23. Oh me too! If anybody else is missing Tristan, Kym or Karina, here's their team dance to "Disturbia" way back in 2011
  24. Just watched the show and went ACCKKK!!! they put Johnny in the death spot! Ever since the first night, I've thought they lowballed him and now this. Yes, they gave him a redemption but they do that sometimes to soften the coming blow. I think he's out next week. But anyway, the next thing I thought watching him was "Somebody else choreographed that!" Maybe not... but it was great, for him, but yeah, as someone upthread said, he doesn't get his feet right. Guess I just thought he'd be more of a fan fave. Boo hiss from me - he's not that bad. 😞 By the way, they very briefly showed Peta in the loft thing during Johnny's dance and I gasped at how gaunt she looked - but maybe it was "ghoulish" makeup... Anyway, my other favorite, Gle... I mean Chrishell (in the 'other' death spot) - she's likely out with Johnny in the double elim next week. The very long skirt helped but she's one of the most pigeon-toed people I've seen, poor sweet little thing. But she has personality - unlike the other blonde cyphers. I finally realized at the end of the show that the little snippets showing a blonde that I thought was either Chrishell or Monica was actually Kaitlyn. There's just no there there. (Monica has a squidge more personality - I guess - but didn't she say "Val and I's partnership...?" Oy. And aren't cheerleaders known for their pep - yet she's such a damp squib). I had a personal epiphany watching Derek try to "act" tonight -- he's got a teenager's voice. If I closed my eyes, I could easily imagine him a 16 year old in high school debate class. Sorry to be sexist - so so so many women keep little girl voices (hello Jenna!) but not many men sound like kids. It's that niggling thing that's been annoying me about him as a judge. Still... thankfully minus the desperate ambition he had when he was a partnered pro, he's finally palatable -- I mean, I know he defo knows his stuff, even when they have him pretend not to. AJ: Been thinking he was great but tonight I noticed his posture. Cheryl may have fallen and hurt herself, but AJ was the one dancing like he was in a neck brace. Ballroom and him are a dreary combo - like Nelly, who was back to being gloomy tonight. I think he's quite a moody one, our Nelly, and he really looked down in the viewing loft. Without Latin that he can insert a hip-hop groove into, he got nothin'. Agree with some others that Justina was subpar this time. She's best when she can smile and glow. And I thought she was clompy and had terrible posture except for about 5 seconds towards the end. And why the flat shoes? Wonder if she's slightly injured? Made her even clompier. Noticed Nev saying something like, "Thank you, New York ballet, for inspiring me all these years". All these years? How much HAVE you danced, Nev Nureyev? Not that he and Kaitlyn are that good - out of practice I guess. Or residual injuries from too much past dancing - that may be a factor with Johnny too. Not many dancers, skaters, or athletes end up without chronic injuries. Finally, Skai. My favorite dance of hers!! - and she sounded almost grown up in the rehearsal package! I think she's calming down a bit - hope so. I was pleased that she improved - dancewise and confidence wise. By the end, I didn't even remember Jeannie but I have faith she'll come back strong - going first is not the best - but it's 2nd and 3rd placement when you ask if the bell is now tolling for you. I'm preparing myself to lose Weir & Savchenko alas. Can I tune in without them? Not sure.
  25. From the beginning, I've felt that the producers may be out to lowball Johnny and cut him early, but then I wondered if they were building an arc. (I finally realized that just because he was the biggest draw for me didn't mean that he was for anybody else lol). Anyway, I'm still wondering what their storyboard is for him - he's the only celeb next week to have a lyrical dance (Viennese Waltz.) And I can't wait to see, between Nelly and Skai, who pulls off the better Argentine Tango. The assignments (according to Wikipedia): AJ Tango; Chrishell Paso; Jeannie Paso; Johnny VW; Justina Tango; Kaitlyn Paso; Monica Jazz; Nelly Arg Tango; Nev Paso; Skai Arg Tango.
