  1. On the points of bad accents, the entire cast of Enemy at the Gates. Jude Law = Russian (speaks in natural British accent) Rachel Weisz = Russian (speaks in natural British accent) Ed Harris = German (speaks in natural American accent) IIRC, Bob Hoskins and Joseph Finnes may have attempted accents suited to their character. And it wasn't great, Bob.
  2. Many moons ago, I had a roommate - who for context, I had not met before she moved in. Somehow we discovered our mutual and endless love for the movie Clue. Like, to the extent we spent the next hour reciting almost every line from it. That led to grabbing some drinks, and watching the DVD, while quasi-acting out most of the scenes as they happened. She was a good roommate.
  3. I'll give it a couple of more episodes, but not feeling the new cast yet. Johnathon Pryce is totally wrong for Philip - his voice is way too distinctive. And I'm guessing 90% of these conversations shown never took place. Diana saying all 3 marriages wouldn't last another 6 months - to the Prime Minister? Doubtful.
  4. I was an unreserved Max fan until that stunt yesterday. There's rumours it's over Checo crashing "purposely" in Monaco to secure the pole spot. Dude, I thought I held a grudge.
  5. The photos of John and Joseph break my heart. While I didn't love all the lines he was asked to deliver, (the use of "slut" was a bit excessive), John had this way of delivering the snark and insults in such a way you just delighted in it. May he rest in peace.
  6. There's another article that lists the "top 10 DOOL characters", and CIN (yes, together) is LISTED HIGHER THAN ALICE HORTON. Rage.
  7. Your first two reminded me of a skit that cracked me up, which was Adam Driver as Kylo Ren on Undercover Boss: Starkiller Base. I don't think I've ever sat through an entire episode of SNL in my life, although I'm certainly aware/seen later some of the more famous skits (Buckwheat Sings The Blues!)
  8. I did actually think (before Aubrey said it) that anyone fluent or with a good grasp of Spanish should have an easier time with the poetry task. As I noted earlier, I was in French Immersion, and it made learning Spanish later much easier. While overall I think Spanish is an easier language to learn, they are a number of similarities that someone with experience in Spanish could use as an advantage. However, as they say, MMV.
  9. Having gone through 12 years of French Immersion, I (not so) humbly brag I would have aced that poetry task. I was pretty impressed that I glanced away from the TV when they were showing the subtitles and I could translate it back to English. Mattie's French sounded good too. Very sad to see Q&M be eliminated. They had great attitudes and were fun to watch. Navigation is really getting to teams this season.
  10. Perhaps the laws in the US are different, but in Canada, if you're fired (ie: for not doing your job) or you quit (without just cause like having to move due to a spouse's new job), you are not eligible for unemployment benefits. There is a difference between being laid off (ie: cutbacks) and fired. Is it lazy writing, or different processes? I get that they're trying to pin Jackie's reluctance to do anything on past trauma from Roseanne, but it didn't work for me. I just found her insufferable. Becky and Ben had some great lines, so that saved this episode for me.
  11. Co-signed. It only took one episode of Dead to Me for me to turn to my husband and say, "This is 100% how I'm acting if you pass unexpectedly and tragically." In happier news, Chris Evans is #1 on my "hall pass" list, so I am excited to see the news about Sexiest Man Alive (although I have some issue with us still anointing someone that in 2022.)
  12. I am not watching the show much anymore, but checking in here periodically. I am confused - who did Chanel allegedly murder?
  13. Literally put people on a bus and sending them over to where the other guy was.
  14. Do you avoid walking/running/hiking trails then? Or cycling or running races in town? Women wear athletic tights or shorts because they're made specifically for active movement and exercise. They are also typically moisture-wicking, meaning good to wear when you're active and sweaty. I couldn't imagine not wearing something like that to do the race in.
  15. The immigration protests seemed reminiscent of the recent convoy protests across Canada, with the big trucks and all the honking. I'm guessing that's where they pulled that imagery from. The Wheelers are straight up creepy, but it's nice to see Serena get some comeuppance. Her asking June questions on how to help herself in that situation was pretty rich. So Lawrence helped create Gilead because he was trying to save the human race from extinction? Clearly there are woman out there who can still have children, hence Handmaids, so your brilliant idea was to enslave them and make them brood mares? You didn't seem to care that this would only save your specific population from extinction, unless he really though this theory/way of life would catch on across the world. I think Bradley Whitford is so great in the role, and he's snarky one-liners add some much needed levity at times, but the writers seem hell bent on creating redemption arcs for some characters who are wholly unworthy of it.
  16. I know in reality he's likely off elsewhere, but it would have been hysterical for the teams who found the Pit Stop early to catch Phil sitting there, mowing down on a sandwich. They did not make the cart task easy to find for the first team - after that, subsequent teams would see the others there. Definitely noticed suddenly all the teams were wearing masks a lot more.
  17. FFS, the old "she faints therefore she's pregnant" trope?
  18. So sorry! I've been battling a cough/cold this week - tested 3 times, always negative, but... who knows. First time being sick in over 2 years. It definitely sucks.
  19. Anyone know what George Clooney's been up to lately? 😉
  20. Because of the swap to a new network in Canada, resulting in a new timeslot, I haven't been watching. However, I was spoiled that today they would reveal Abigail's killer, so I tuned it while working from home. ... that was it? Sorry gang, going back to not watching again. (I am however, always checking in to the convo here!)
  21. This. The second half got so much better when they actually showed other people, or at the very least, June from at least 3 feet away.
  22. She can't fight back if she's dead. That's the point I was trying to make. Play the game so you can move within the system and then make your move.
  23. Damn Serena is a stone cold, calculating bitch. And I'm here for it. Not that in any shape or form do I condone the general principles of Gilead, but in context of fictional characters on a show, she is far more compelling than June. I get that Esther was scared, but to turn on Janine like that was sudden. Janine was giving her the right advice. It's not the advice she wanted to hear, but it was definitely advice that would help her survive in Gilead. The wheels are starting to fall off Gilead. I'm interested to see if Mrs. Puttnam plays a role in this.
  24. The brothers clearly have not been out my way - we have a ton of wild peacocks roaming around various areas. While their edit was much nicer to them this episode, I was not sorry to see Beverly and Veronica out. I assume it's a combination of editing and stress of the moment, but when the host does not immediately start telling you what place you're in, it should be obvious after this many years that you're safe from elimination.
