Samesies. One episode was all I needed to bounce. That sucked.

I didn't make it past her entrance to the gala dinner. I couldn't figure out if it was supposed to be serious, comedy or satire - and if it was supposed to be any of those specifically, IMO, it failed terribly.

I'm still watching for Mandy Patinkin.
One line spoken by Rufus Cotesworth in this episode made me willing to watch the next:

    • You never wanted justice for what happened to your mom.
      You wanted her back.

    More about Imogene's hair:
This week I noticed Linda Emond as Agent Hilde Eriksen has the same wig, but without the bangs.

I caught the line too, and I have read that theory elsewhere online.

With each passing episode, Anna is becoming more unbearable and more self absorbed. I realize a lot of things are coming at her quickly, but she had a line to Imogene about "You just wanted to find out who killed your mom". Uh, yeah

  3. HOW is Lucy this blind? I know she's in love, but she's generally got a good head on her shoulders. What is Heather's long game here? Isolation, so total control I guess?

Daniel is definitely torn between becoming either of his parents. I'd wager to say he's not smart enough or strong enough to realize he can be his own person.

Glad Abby gave the "anonymous tip" so to speak to Zina to take down Sabrina Bass. Hopefully that's the last we'll see of that character.

[SNIP] The credit card company is not going to eat the cost of all the stuff they bought. They WILL file a claim against the estate. This family should already know that from Roseanne’s death.

In the previous episode, someone said when Roseanne died, they called the credit card company and they waived any existing debt - which is how they decided to proceed with this hairbrained fraud.

  5. I was wondering how they would deal with Chip on the bench, and this provides a good "out" for his getting kicked off and/or possible dis-baring.

I knew Kelly was shady from the get-go. She's not-so-subtly starting to isolate Lucy from her family. (What's next? Suggesting she change jobs? Move?)

Abby - CLOSE YOUR BLINDS. 😬

  6. I used to work at a movie theatre, and part of my job was to check on the movie as it was running/be prepared to clean at the end. I got spoiled on a lot of movies during my 5 years.

I'm OK with spoilers for the most part. However, there are some shows that I am truly invested in where I am glad I don't seek out information and am surprised or caught off guard by a big moment. (SouthLAnd was this show for me.)

  7. Or when he gave up custody of his kids so he could keep doing his activism work? 😬

Jojo not liking the bracelet after all was hilarious. Lauren Holly delivered that scene perfectly. Especially since her wanting the bracelet was the catalyst for Harry's many legal ethics issues now.

  8. While I know Abby, due to abandonment issues, likes attention, but she would have called the criminal lawyer right out for his smarmyness. Like, dial it back from 11 dude. Also, the "Aiden isn't good enough for Abby" sub-plot seemed to come out of nowhere? A firefighter is a very good, honourable job.

I'm not a fan of Nina or Cecil, so this episode dragged a bit for me. I could see the scam plot coming from a mile away.

  9. Abby is not coping well - with anything, frankly. (Pun moderately intended.) I'm glad Jerry talked to her, and I would 100% use Jerry's services if she was a therapist. She's been there, seen it, walked it, and come through. (I did enjoy Abby's passive agressive retaliation at Frank's "rules" though.)

So far I'm liking Lucy's new friend, who I assume will be a new love interest? Also, howled at her outburst at the client. "IT'S A CAT."

Speaking of animals, Craig continues to be the best part of Daniel.

    Just saw Ruritania. Two things:

    1. Anyone ever read The Queen and I? I see there was a TV movie made of it, about five years ago, so I can't believe Peter Morgan never heard of it. Election Night, 1992. The Queen goes to bed before the results are finalized. Next thing, she and the rest of the Windsors have been deposed by a rogue party and sent to live in council housing. Things fall further and further apart, both in the family and in the country, in only a few months.

      Hide contents

It was all a dream. The first chapter ends, "It was the Queen's nightmare," and everything in between that and the last chapter is exactly that.

Anyway, TQaI is a satire, worth reading, though I do not recommend the "sequel", Queen Camilla. The opening scene was clever, don't get me wrong, but it makes me wonder how well known TQaI is. The author is the same woman who wrote about Adrian Mole, fwiw.

    2. During the run-up to Her Late Majesty's funeral, I was watching BBC World pretty much nonstop, and I remember a lot of people being trotted out for sound bites, like townspeople near Balmoral, and palace workers with unique jobs. I don't remember any specific job titles that were mentioned, but some of them were along the lines of Herb Strewer.

Sue Townsend is my favourite author. In fact, I found my childhood copy of Adrian Mole at my parent's house and am starting to re-read the series. I also found a copy of Queen Camilla on my mom's bookshelf and I said, "That was prophetic."

The Queen and I is hysterical. Highly, highly recommend it.

  11. I am not familiar with Carvel, but I felt like he was doing a caricature of Blair.

I'm never for one losing their job, but some of those positions are quite ridiculous. Definite hints of Charles' wish to slim down the monarchy in future years.

  12. I giggled and did a little air punch when they said "a school for the deaf" as part of their visit. That's my highschool, and I graduated the year prior. (At the time, I was insanely jealous of my younger friends still there.) To clarify, the school for the deaf was integrated into a regular highschool, and there was a lot of (at the time) advanced technology around the entire campus to accommodate it. I remember the utter chaos of those 3 visiting. Manhole covers and mailboxes being removed from the streets, detours, the whole bit.

As with much of the first half of the season, I'm also going to take "conversations that didn't actually happen for 1000, Alex."

I could see this team being invited back for an all-star season, given that they just missed running the final leg this season.

Doesn't hurt that AL is very photogenic.

But a few years from now, Steve may be even less able to keep up and could be a medical risk.

Have they ever had all-star teams invited back with just one of the team members paired with someone else?

There must be a story for why she didn't get her husband to race or maybe even a younger friend, since she's so competitive as she says.

She probably thinks she would have won or at least made the final leg with a more physically fit partner.

Sure she can give platitudes about doing something with her father, how it drew them closer, etc. but she seems the type to be cold-blooded about getting results.

They mentioned a few times that this was their way of spending time together now that she's married and likely to try to start a family soon.

One more observation I just remembered. On the scenes on the plane I don’t think we saw any other passengers. Makes me think it was actually a private charter flight and the Expedia stuff was for show. After all if they’re showcasing the ease of the App you wouldn’t want to show any team get screwed due to travel drama.

I think they just board first so they can film them without needing waivers from all the other passengers.

  15. It could definitely be editing, but near the beginning of the episode there was a distinct "COME ON, DAD" while... Steve was actually ahead of Anna Leigh. I know he's said time and time again that it encourages him, but I can't imagine that's not much more than saving face after the fact in interviews.

I read elsewhere that Corey follows his dance instructor now on Instagram, and I hope so. I 'ship this, as the kids would say. He really nailed the steps quickly. I've seen Riverdance 3 times, and am in awe of their dancing each time.

I didn't think John was being anything but playful with his "cute" comment about the wins of the other teams.

Rooting overall for Rob and Corey, but I am going into this finale being happy with any of the remaining teams winning.
