  1. As far as I'm concerned, if they got to the end and managed to get the most jury votes then they must as deserved the win. There's so much that goes on out there that we can't know. The winner tends to be the person that the jury disliked the least. With all the factors involved, I'm not in a position to sit in judgement.
  2. I'm still watching this show, but I think that it's time I stopped. Geordie cheating on his wife with Margaret just turns my stomach. He mumbles that Cathy just "cooks". Geordie is late because he's screwing around but then sits down to a meal that Cathy cooked while she irons and takes care of his children. What an idiot. I had hoped the the realisation of a pregnancy with Margaret might jerk him back to reality, but he's too much of a cad. Sydney and Amanda really annoy me too. The scene this episode of them screwing on the steps was really lousy. To me, there is nothing "romantic" about infidelity. It's not "forbidden" love. Surely the writers could have come up with something better than this rubbish. It's Leonard I feel for. At that point in history he would have been ruined, fired, and jailed for living an authentic life. Maybe he's bi-sexual. I hope so. He and his girlfriend deserve some happiness. Dickens is my favourite character on the show. Pretty dog with that lovely shiny coat. Season 1 was good, but it's all been downhill from there.
  3. This episode was better, in my opinion, than the last few have been. The whole Sidney and Amanda 'forbidden' love rubbish really annoyed me. The writers ruined the last ten minutes with the appearance of Amanda and her announcement. And, it seemed very out of character to me that Mrs. M would actually encourage Amanda to go see Sidney. The last thing she'd want to see is Sidney involved in a horrible scandal with a married and pregnant woman. Mrs. M knows about being unhappy in a marriage, but I don't believe she would open her mouth to Amanda. The majority of the characters this season have been written so that I don't like them much at all. Leonard and Dickens are the two most likeable. Maybe this series only had one good season in it.
  4. yes, Jack is stinking rich and he would take Vic's BS and consult with one of his lawyers. I hate it when Vic is written as the all knowing and all powerful and Jack is written as no match for him. Also, I wonder who cut off the ear. That grosses me right out. It's rare that I watch the show now. Bits and pieces here and there. I just don't give a hoot about most of the characters.
  5. The scene with Mary and Granny was very good. Granny showed us a different side and it was a side that I liked to see. All this time I thought she was only concerned about the fact that Isobel would be a "lady", and there was rather more to her. I especially liked it when she said that a lack of compassion is as vulgar as excessive tears. I'm not sure if I got that line exactly right, but it was good to hear. Cora is another character who has many layers. On the one hand she shows the face of the gracious lady of the manor and appears to be powerless in the castle that her money saved. Then, when something hits the fan, she's all steel and controlled fire. I like that about her. Isobel was absolutely crushed and PW played that scene so well. Those words flattened her. The spirit and sparkle came out of her, but she still managed to show a brave face to the others. Mary is now without a man. I wonder. Did the woman who can't manage to dress herself manage to use the contraceptive device properly? Anna left without instructions. Mary didn't use contraception while married to Matthew as far as we know, so would not be that familiar with things. I wonder what Mary would do if her jaunt into wild sexual abandon resulted in a little bun in her oven. Maybe the Stopes book spelled out the proper method. Can't say that I liked anything about Mary's manner or disposition in this episode.
  6. I was glad to see that the seemingly endless scenes of Edith going to Yew Tree Farm will now be over. What a mess! I feel for everyone involved. I've always seen where Edith is coming from. Her choices certainly have been the result of her feelings about her standing in the family and in society in general. But, I really felt for Mrs. Drewe. I wonder what her next action will be, because I think her pain will play out in some way. Mary. Why on earth are these men so taken with her? The relationship between Edith and Mary is just so ugly. Watching them, I'm glad that I never had a sister. It never occurred to me that the ticket would be proof that Bates did not go to London. Maybe I missed it, but the whole issue of the contraceptive device was touched on and then dropped when they started talking about Green and the murder of him. Is Anna too embarrassed to tell Bates that Mary was having sex with Gillingham, or did she see it as a breech of confidentiality? Why on earth is Baxter being so helpful to Thomas? I'd be avoiding him like the plague. She knows of his father and family and it seems that they go a long way back. Are they related? The Violet / Isobel / Prince Russian scenes were fun to watch.
  7. I was disappointed that Devon didn't get punched out. I'm so tired of Devon. He and Hilary are on my last nerve. MTS is sure good at playing drunk Nikki. She's a great actress.
  8. Joe Clark. Yeah, I think of a politician. And this Joe Clark is as slippery as one.
  9. Robert grew up as the entitled heir and, as we keep seeing, the times they are a changin'. He is a sensitive sort and quite ego driven. For all that sensitivity, he can also be insensitive when it comes to the feelings of other people. He'll tromp on another person's ego quick enough. But I really don't think he intends to do so. He just doesn't know anything else. Robert is getting longer in the tooth and he's very confused about the direction the world is going. But Sarah Bunting is so extremely rude and obnoxious that Robert would have to be cool beyond belief to not be annoyed by the things she says. She's certainly entitled to her opinions, but there is a time and a place to express them.
  10. I didn't see Gillingham's reaction as creepy or irrational. Rather, I thought that it was understandable. Mary blindsided him. He really didn't have the opportunity to process what she said at all. For him, it came out of the blue. What should he have said? Maybe, "Jolly good then. Thanks for the memories.". Not that I don't think Lord Gillingham is without a dark side. I think the police officer was watching his residence because they are suspicious of him with regard to some investigation, either the death of a Green or something else.
  11. I like Cricket too. Always have. But I think she belongs with Danny.
  12. Not a fan of the Winters family scenes today. The writing for them really seems to be in the toilet lately.
  13. I didn't realize that Paul G. was leaving the series. I'll be sorry to see him go.
  14. I agree ... Duncan was annoying. :-) That's a good point about the eye drops. I wonder if there is any significance to that, in terms of drug use, or if it was nothing at all.
