  1. You know, I am not truly familiar with Vocaloid stuff. I do see a lot of Vocaloid cosplay at my town's Japan Festival every year though. I had not heard a lot of Gackt stuff, but what I have heard, I liked. Oh, and I totally forgot to mention Exist Trace, Yoko Kanno and Ishii Yasushi. I love Exist Trace, and the fact that it's an all female goth/visual kei group makes me happy. But dear God, I have it bad for Atsushi Sakurai. I have seen a few Buck Tick videos and to kind of quote Ginger Minj from RuPaul's Drag Race, Sakurai-san floods my basement. Funny thing is, he is not the kind of man I am usually attracted to, but his voice....Lord his voice! I just finished watching Ergo Proxy and Durararax2 part 1 on Hulu and rewatched a lot of Darker than Black and Black Lagoon. Hulu rocks for anime, they have a pretty good library of the stuff. I have watched Hellsing: Ultimate three times! This sounds strange, but I hate horror movies and vampire films. Truly dislike the stuff. Twilight and all that crap, don't give it a moment's notice. But Hellsing and Blood+ and Trinity Blood? I love them. Go figure. :)
  2. I started watching anime when Toonami was on prime time on Saturdays. The kiddo told me about it and I watched "Naruto" with her. So yes, I was hooked from the beginning. True story: When the kid unit was in 7th grade. she calls me because one of her friends was convinced that he had the correct names of the Captains and Vice Captains of the Gotei 13 from "Bleach". She was sure he was wrong, and because I am a big fan of Bleach, she gave me a ring. And here I am, in my forties, listing the correct names and divisions for some anime characters to a middle school kid. Her friends decided I was cool at that point lol. I promise I was NOT considered cool when I was her age. And because of my anime love, I have J-rock and J-pop on my phone's music list. I am now a fan of Buck Tick, Hyde and his various bands/side projects, and Abingdon Boys School. Hell, I have a mad fangirl crushes on Hyde, K.A.Z. and Atsushi Sakurai. Thanks loads daughter of mine. :) Suz At Large, I turned 50 in December. Not only is my brain no longer at its peak capacity, I've turned cranky and into a curmudgeon. I would say "Get off my lawn" but I live in an apartment complex. So, technically speaking, the lawn ain't mine. Comcast and I have an interesting relationship. Let's just say the billing department would like to blacklist me but can't.
  3. wanderwoman: As we crazy anime fans like to say, Miss Maisie is super kawaii! * Hope that she will continue to get stronger and healthier with each passing day! *Kawaii, in context of Japanese popular culture, means "cute". My "baby" is now 18 and is graduating high school in a week. She is the one I thank for introducing me to anime and manga. Because, apparently, I am not geeky enough. :) As for organ donation, I am a donor. I made sure that box was checked when I got my driver's license. One of my co-worker's sons had a bad kidney, and the co-worker's other son donated one of his kidneys to his brother. There was a news story about it here in my hometown a few months back. Both are doing well, happy to say. I figure once I am off this mortal coil, at least I might be able to help someone else's loved one have a shot at life. Still have all my organs, but there are days I wonder about my brain.
  4. Oh man.....not Katya! I loved her. I would have preferred to see Pearl go.
  5. That last episode of Blood-C was just ridiculous. I have to agree with your assesment Sandman, but you probably liked a bit more than I did. I stuck it out though, out of curiousity. I hear the movie is suppose to be better than the series, but I don't know if I have the fortitude to find out. I thought it was humorous that the Tennis Club captain on Kill la Kill was named Hakodate. lathspel: Is the second season of Sword Art Online replacing Gurren Lagann once Gurren's run is finished? I was hoping Toonami would run Black Lagoon:Roberta's Blood Trail. I did watch it on Hulu and it was just as bloody and violent and crazy as the rest of the series. I loved it!
  6. Well..Kill la Kill lived up to what my kiddo told me about it. In the seriously, what the hell did I just watch? kind of way. I suppose the point is that the main character wants to find out who killed her dad, who I guess was creating weaponized school uniforms that could double as stripper wear? I like it in an odd sort of way, maybe because Kill la Kill makes no pretense of being anything other than a hyper shounen series with lots of fanservice. LOTS and LOTS of fanservice. I will have to give it a little more time before I can definitively say that I love it or hate it. Wonder what Toonami will replace Gurren Lagann with after it finishes its run? I hope to hell it's not Blood-C. That was a total waste of my time and no, I had not seen the Blood-C movie. I don't think I ever will since the series frustrated me so much.
  7. I have to agree with you Sandman. Those commercials were boring and flat. I can't really remember a single one. All that money for an ad and this is the best the advertising agencies can do?
  8. I don't know Sandman. I tuned out after Deadman Wonderland. I did not realize Toonami changed their schedule last night until I saw Shippuden on at 11pm my time and not Dragonball Z: Kai. Then I found this: http://toonami.tumblr.com/post/108934242548/line-up-changes-effective-tomorrow I did ask on the Toonami page if they were aware of Origa's passing. I suspect they won't say anything about it on the block.
  9. He also voices Brock Samson in "The Venture Brothers.". I think he also voiced the Wolf in Hoodwinked.
  10. Sandman, my daughter has seen the Kill la Kill series and enjoyed it quite a lot. I tend to trust her judgement in anime/manga. I do wish Toonami would add some new shows later in the block, although I am rewatching Deadman Wonderland to catch things I missed the first time around. I used to think that Deadman Wonderland was the most WTF anime I ever watched. Until I saw Hellsing: Ultimate that is... This may be a bit off topic, but since it relates to the Ghost In the Shell series Toonami runs, I felt it was relevant. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2015-01-18/ghost-in-the-shell-singer-origa-passes-away/.83416 That news just broke my heart. I absolutely love the opening themes for the GITS series and the closing song from Solid State Society.
  11. You are welcome CarpeDiem54. Since I am screaming towards middle age very very soon, I must practice my old lady curmudgeon voice. :)
  12. Is that the one for Dish Network Hopper? Because that kid is the Devil Spawn I tell you. Someone needs to tell the little brat that the DVR is for everyone in the household and she is just going to have to suck it up Since she is such a demanding little snot, I think Mom and Dad should refuse to record the Pony whatever crap and send Devil Spawn to her room to calm the hell down. God, I hate kids like that. Speaking of annoying brats, the kid on the Nest commercial, (I think it was Nest? The cameras you post in your home for surveillance?) can go the hell away. He is PROUD of the fact that he breaks things, dumps milk on the floor and just knocks things over because he can. He and Pony Girl and the brat from the Doritos commercial need to be shipped off to some sweatshop in Bangladesh for a month to get over themselves.
  13. I absolutely love the Scooter the Neutered cat ad. The bit about "Who's your daddy?" "NOT ME!" slays me every time. I am cat owner and all my feline housemates are neutered/ or spayed except for the youngest one. Luckily, there is a low cost neuter/spay clinic near my home. I have to say that one of my favorite commercials is the one for Duluth Trading Company's long tail tees for women. The one with the gawking gopher. Heck, Duluth Trading Company's ads make me laugh everytime. I have a kid who is planning to attend college in Minnesota so maybe it's time to check out their products?
  14. I just finished watching the Hellsing anime. Let see the Duggars process that one.
