  1. That is why I only watch HH on DVR. I fast forward through the commercials. That cackle of Chimpster's reminds me of the nasty witch in Wizard of Oz.
  2. An oddball couple for sure. The kids were bratty as a result of poor parenting. If they'd been disciplined the first time they ran through the house it would have solved the problem. The mom seemed to pay more attention to her chickens than her children. I thought that as well about his smart house features. Since they had the house built he could have had it wired for all his techie gear. But, but... the budget! I guess he was too cheap to do that.
  3. She was such a bitch with her badda-bing and badda-boom dislike for honey oak. At the end of the reno when they were standing in front of the staircase with the foyer behind them there was a chest near the front door that looked like (wait for it!) honey oak. I had a good laugh at the husband installing those peel-and-stick tiles on the bathroom floor. The stuff he was using was so thin it looked like contact paper.
  4. It must have been coincidence. I've been to Panama a couple times and the sun was shining a lot.
  5. It was a happy day for me when I discovered the level on my iPhone. I can't stand crooked pictures.
  6. I don't mind the pictures on the walls. My home has pictures everywhere there is room for them. I'm sad that we've nearly run out of places to hang even more. Clutter? I've got some of that as well, but I love my 'stuff' that has been collected over the past 50 years. I consider my clutter to be treasures.
  7. I love my black smooth top Bosch cook top. I got their cleaner that makes it simple to remove anything that gets "baked" on while cooking (such as spills). Will look for Cerama Bryte for cleaning in the future--the Bosch cleaner is pretty expensive. Even though I have placed a large wood cutting board adjacent to the cook top, my husband tends to use the cook top as a prep area when making sandwiches and leaves greasy spots on it so I'm washing it every day when I wipe down counter tops after dinner.
  8. Even the bordellos in Alaska, such as Dolly's Place in Ketchikan, were classier.
  9. Didn't the FL husband say he's a concrete contractor? The thing that annoyed me (and will annoy his neighbors) is that he plans to park a relatively good sized boat where it's an eyesore, visible for all to see. He'd be better off keeping it at a boat storage facility or in-and-out marina near where he typically launches it. When FL husband rattled off the ages of his kids I thought his new wife wasn't much older than his oldest child.
  10. Now that I think about it, you're right. I just watched an episode on my DVR with Chimp & JoJo looking back on previous seasons' episodes and she talked about her "eclectic" style. At that point, I deleted it. No way is her shabby chic decor eclectic. I don't think she even knows what that means. Seeing the two of them bark at one another and jump out from behind doors to scare each other was pretty boring.
  11. My kitchen oak cabinets and family room birch cabinets were built in place 30 years ago and I wouldn't trade them for anything. It doesn't hurt that the dining table and antique cabinets in my kitchen's breakfast area are oak and blend in well with the cabinets. I had the furniture pieces before we bought the house and was delighted with the cabinets.
  12. I seem to remember the cult requires 'members' to 'tithe' something like a third of their earnings. As soon as they assess that, Juliette will either be broke or will be running away from the cult as fast as possible. It might be the only thing that will set her free. I'm kind of surprised she still has the fancy house, an assistant, and funds to do whatever she wants since it's been so long since she's done a tour or cut an album.
  13. The blue cabinet craze is kinda funny to me because it's nothing new. Back in 1980 we rented a fairly new house in an upscale subdivision and the kitchen cabinets were navy blue. The laminate countertops and vinyl floor (in a faux tile look) were white. Also an interesting choice was two 'complimentary' plaid patterned wallpapers in navy blue and rust on a white background. That kitchen had a built-in desk in one corner and I loved it. All-in-all it was very functional in addition to being somewhat funky.
  14. Titles cannot be copyrighted. If only the spine is visible, including it in a photograph shouldn't be a copyright violation, particularly if the viewer of a television show can't even read the title.
  15. I wonder if they are simply going to go "behind the design" on fixer upper homes that have already aired. That would be relatively cheap to do by using outtakes from the old shows that have already aired with JoJo adding talking head commentary. As a "companion project" that's what it sounds like. If that's the case, HGTV is really cheaping out with this one. I'd rather see a "where are they now" type show with the homeowners adding commentary and showing their own furniture in the houses.
  16. The first time I saw one of those monster fans was in the airport in Curacao. The brand was Big Ass Fan. The airport was open air and the fan didn't help much.
  17. For those of you anxiously awaiting the news, Magnolia Table is now open for breakfast and lunch from 6am to 3pm. According to the article on Fox News, "The HGTV stars have said the restaurant emphasizes breakfast because Chip considers himself to be a 'breakfast connoisseur.'” ROFLOL!!!
  18. I didn't think what Deacon did was so terrible. My thought on his relationship with Jessie... "run, Deacon, run!" She and her ontrolling ex and weird kid are just too much drama for a nice man like Deacon to deal with.
  19. On occasion we've had to use a shower chair (broken leg) and I keep it in the tub. It's out of the way there and handy if ever needed again. DH put up a wall-to-wall clothes hanging rod in the laundry room to dry delicates :)
  20. I still have an almond fridge, which I got in 2001 to match my other 80s almond appliances. I've since replaced all the almond appliances, except the fridge, with black appliances. Am waiting for the fridge to die. It shouldn't be too long now, Hehehe.
  21. Something that's been bugging me... How can Juliette be of any "help" to anyone in Bolivia if she doesn't speak Spanish? That cult shit is so lame.
  22. My master bath has a 'garden' tub and a separate shower. I tried out the tub when we first moved in 30 years ago. It took forever to fill and the water cooled too quickly to enjoy a long 'soak' in it. I haven't used it since. I'd love to remove it and replace it with a huge shower with a built in bench and then remove the old shower and replace it with a storage closet. I just need to get DH on board with the idea. Neither DH or I are bath people. I have a neighbor who did what I want to do with that bathroom and I need to get with her and find out what it cost and who she hired to do the work--the tile floor will have to be replaced, wallpaper will have to be removed, and a monster-sized mirror over the tub will have to be removed.
  23. My husband has family in Laurel, MS. It's a lovely little southern town and I hope you enjoy your visit there.
  24. He was really sweet and patient. She was a total bitch. Run, Batman, run!! Did anyone else notice how she'd stop and 'pose' every time she was ready to speak? She was really rocking it, being on TV and all. The real estate agent looked humiliated by her behavior. He was her father, I think.
  25. It increased the cost of our granite by about $1200, but was worth it to have it all completed at the same time. Everyone who sees it likes it. I actually got the idea from a neighbor who had her granite countertop extend to the bottom of the cabinets on one side of her kitchen. She now regrets not having it done on the other side as well. Here's the before and after...
