  1. What bothers me about Beric's words is the "you and I will not find much joy while we're here" (here = alive) part. I assume that if Jon is King, he'll at least get to raise his kid(s) which will give him joy, as well as the connection to his other relations. So even if he doesn't like the job (being king) he can still have joy in his life. Of course, it can mean he dies for the greater good, but Beric's words seem to imply he has more to do in this life. Ending up fighting for others all by his lonesome (kind of like Benjen) is what I fear will be his fate (while his offspring rules Westeros). I really hate this idea. Fair point.
  2. There's something that has been bothering me since episode 706, regarding Jon's fate. While on their wight hunt, Jon and Beric exchange some words about the lord of light and fighting for life, when Beric says: "You and I will not find much joy while we're here, but we can keep others alive. We can defend those who can't defend themselves". Jon responds with: "I'm the shield that guards the realms of men", then adds: "maybe that's enough" with a resigned half smile. That scene immediately threw me, thinking that maybe Jon is destined to end up serving some cause in a new form of the Night's Watch. Then I remembered GRRM saying that when you come back from the dead you lose part(s) of yourself. That you're a little "less". And so, if Jon's no longer 'normal', I kind of doubt GRRM will give him a happy ending (as considered by the average person). On the show, Jon's resurrection doesn't seem to have any effect on him, either in personality or physicality (aside a few scars). However, I'm sure it will be noticeable in the books, and assuming they're not going to completely change his destiny on the show from what it's supposed to be in the books, he won't end up much happier on the show. So now I'm thinking his child with Dany will be the one to 'change the world' and make it better, but Jon won't be there to raise him/her, guide him/her, or enjoy fatherhood. He'll end up as some kind of ranger, defending those who can't defend themselves for the rest of his days believing he's fighting for a just cause or whatever and find little joy in general, just like Beric says in that episode. The thought that Jon may be the "bitter" part in the bittersweet ending of the story, depresses the hell out of me. He's the ONE character I want to see happy by the end of this and I fear his fate will be just sad. I try to comfort myself thinking of all the dumb things they write on the show, like Beric telling Jon at that same conversation that he looks nothing like his father. Of course they meant to remind us who Jon's mother is and prepare us for the great!reveal!, but since Beric meant Ned, it was a really stupid thing to write for him since we know how much Jon looks like a Stark. So maybe that whole "You and I will not find much joy while we're here" doesn't have an important meaning for Jon after all and somehow even with the 'back from the dead' and no longer entirely human idea, GRRM still intends to give him the sweet part of the bittersweet ending, and D&D will follow. Sigh. A girl can dream.
  3. Shosh lecturing everyone about being self-centered who make everything about themselves, after excluding Hannah from her party because she didn't specifically tell her about the baby, was ridiculous. Surprisingly, I really liked the Hannah/Jessa part. I could actually feel the utter relief it gave them both in an instance. All that heavy tension instantaneously lifted. I also liked the opening scene where Hannah was walking around looking serene and content being out of the city, in complete contrast to the last time she left NY and was miserable. It really showed how much time (and life events) had changed her situation and place.
  4. Geez, I could not dislike Jessa more. Every time I think we've reached the max of all that is vile, she somehow manages to top herself. I hope to God Hannah truly meant that she doesn't care anymore (though I get the feeling, unfortunately, that she will come around). I did not get the feeling like others seem to, that Adam's movie is leading in any way to a romantic reunion. That'd be disappointing. Adam was an important part of Hannah's life but it's done, and just like real life (in most cases), we don't keep dwelling on relationships from our early 20s, we move on. I can't see Lena not writing a more 'real' ending for Hannah and I do wish for Hannah to be free of both Adam and Jessa as she looks to her future.
  5. Well, it's top 10 and I'm still not getting the Sawyer love. It's like, I understand there's supposed to be something magical there, but I just don't feel it. To me, he just sounds so... ordinary. *shrug* Koryn was freaken awesome. Out of the big voices I find Koryn and Meghan to be much more entertaining and interesting to watch then either India or Kimberly. By the looks of itunes, it seems like Adam's pretty much out. I think Deanna's pretty bad and I find Joshua (who has a good voice) to be dull, so it's A okay with me.
  6. I freaken LOVE Sarah Petenza. I loved her from the very start and I'm really bummed to see she's not charting well (didn't get "amazing" reviews from the other coaches either). I fear for her since I really want her to go through and I'm not sure Blake would save her if she doesn't get America's vote. Blake has a very good team overall, Brook and Corey are weaker than the other three, but based on itunes I guess Corey's a lock for the next round (which is unfortunate since the team's best three all deserve to go through). My favorite performance from team Pharrell was MiaZ. The song is way overused I agree, but she did some great stuff with it. I didn't find Caitlin to be "amazing" at all, and I really didn't get the R&B choice for Lowell who was pretty bad. Poor kid. I know a lot of viewers complain about the too positive reviews on the show, but I love how the coaches always find something nice to say even when there's pretty much none. The Voice being a "nice" show is one of the things I've always liked about it. Unpopular opinion here: I don't get the Sawyer love. He's fine, but I honestly do not see the "special" thing that everyone is talking about practically everywhere. I keep waiting to "get" it, and I just don't. Would he be this popular had he been in his twenties? Maybe, I don't know. The only thing that stands out to me is his perfect gorgeous hair. Oh well. Maybe next round.
  7. He did. I did not mean to imply otherwise in my previous post ("for his own good" needed quotation marks maybe). I don't see the characters on the show in terms of all good or all bad. Walter was always working Jesse and manipulating him into things, right from the start, that doesn't change the part in the relationship that was honest and true. At the time of that scene, Walter was so far gone, he was barely thinking in terms of 'people' at all. However, at that moment, on that spot on the desert far away from the lab and the business, the hurt, scared and broken Jesse, got to him. He (Walt) dropped the act and in what I perceived as genuine response and emotion, went to hold him. I thought that scene was beautiful, and (unfortunately) rare at that point.
  8. Oh I don't blame Jesse, the main reason I so wanted him to see it, was for himself, not for Walter. I think that Walter cared deeply about Jesse, a lot more than Jesse cared about Walt. I love Jesse, he's the only character I liked through the entire series. I actually don't think any of the characters on the show are particularly likable. I didn't hate any of them, not even Walter who has done truly despicable things to every single person he claimed to care about, but I didn't "like" them either. That is, except for Jesse. Another poster mentioned on the Jesse thread that they wanted to give him a hug after losing Jane, I wanted to give him a hug the entire series. His relationship with Walter was one of the best things on the show for me. It was sick and abusive but there was also such loyalty, concern and even love in it (on Walt's part, which is why he took Jesse's "betrayal" so hard). Jesse looked up to Walter a bit as a father figure whose approval and affection he sought and never felt he got. That scene in 5x11 where Walter tries to convince him to "disappear" for his own good and Jesse yells at him that he doesn't care two sh!ts about him, broke my heart. Walt then goes to hug him in response and it was such a precious moment I couldn't believe how they gave us such a beautiful moment only to snatch it away two seconds later, with Jesse realizing it was Walter who poisoned Brock. I just wish that even with all the truly horrid things he'd done, Jesse would realize that Walter cared a great deal about him. I shared Walt's frustration when he was yelling at him on the phone (in the car) that everything he'd done was in order to save Jesse as well as himself. That was one of Walter's very few moments of truth.
  9. I recently finished binge-watching this brilliant brilliant show (Can't believe it took me so long), and though there isn't much left to say that hasn't been already said, one thing always bothered me 'til the very end- Jesse never realizing how much Walter cared about him. To me, one of the most beautiful and compelling things about the show with its dark, violent and immoral theme, was Walter's love for Jesse. I thought it was his one redeeming quality, the only person he cared about that wasn't his immediate family. I found myself tearing my hair out with frustration at various times, as Jesse never saw it. Ever. It got to a point where Hank had to spell it out for him. Hank! And even then it did not sink in. Walter has done truly terrible things to Jesse, no doubt, which made Jesse angry, resentful and suspicious (rightfully so), but I was still hoping that maybe, just for once in the entire series, he'd get it. I felt bad for Walter at the end, but was glad he got to spend his final breath with his one true love (the lab). P.S. Bryan Cranston is just magnificent and a joy to watch in interviews as well.
