  1. I went to the Las Vegas taping, and even before going I suspected most of what is seen is scripted. I'm more convinced of it now. Unless the women are great actresses when the camera is not on, they all actually appeared to get along, and were cordial. Given how Jill is often portrayed, she was very nice, even taking out the time to take a picture with one dad. He was sorta invading her space during some down time, but she was gracious. The dancing was honestly not that impressive in person. All of them just appeared to be going through the motions. Brynn was good, but mechanical, and there was a boy who danced against her, who IMO, beat her soundly, but since it is the show, there was no way she would lose. There was also a mini team there that was FANTASTIC. They really brought it. All in all, it's just a show and they're all getting paid. Maybe there is some real animosity, but it may be more about who gets extra camera and all of the moms realizing they have to maximize the money while they can.
  2. Those hip hop videos are cringe worthy. The chorography is simple, and none of them can pull it off. Kalani comes the closest to pulling off the moves, but none of the girls are good. Maybe it's lack of training, or they just don't have the dance chops for that type of dance. It's hard to believe Abby is in LA trying to sell this weakness.
  3. I went to see a taping of the show a few weeks back in Vegas. I shouldn't be shocked, but the performances were UNINSPIRED. The group number was a tribute to Bowie. It was right after his death. Boring, bad makeup, costuming. It was like someone in production said, "Bowie's dead, let's milk it." Anyway, look out for a "standing ovation" that had to be coaxed by production where the audience was actually told to stand up and clap. Believe me, it was not in response to some rousing dance from any solo dancer or the group performance. Basically, Abby's dancers appeared to be just going through the motions. Also, Nia appeared to be the weakest dancer. Maybe she was tired, but her form and especially her feet were jut plain bad.
  4. What gives with the Nia and Kendall dance? They were both HORRIBLE. I haven't seen the show in a while, but they both are capable of much better dancing, and can handle much more difficult chorography than they were given. The dance from Maddie wasn't much better. The music stopped, and they continued. Good for them, but that dance was just a dry series of moves strung together, no passion, no heart or soul. Maddie appears to just be going through the motions and even her turns seemed sloppy. Maybe these kids have mentally checked out. Though Maddie and what's her name danced better and had better technique, I don't see either one of these routines as real contenders.

She should be fired. Point blank.
  6. Kendall has a small part in Todrick Hall's latest video. Of all the girls, I've always thought she was one of the prettiest, photogenic. One thing about Todrick is that he when he works with someone, he tends to cast them over and over. I liked the video he did ealier with the cast of the show.
  7. Tony may have done better with the cook as a partner. The whole night was like a race to the bottom. I didn't mind Gary. He's Gary. This is the first season I'm totally meh on what I've seen the first week. These are "stars?" This is "dancing?" O.K. Watching this episode made me long for a Susan Lucci, or Marlee Matlin. Though not the most talented, they were pleasant, sincere, and tried their best to rise to the challenge. For me, the jury is out, way out, possibly watching Monday night football this year.
  8. I believe that. I would hope that the moms take this show for what it is--a show. Their kids are making money, and for whatever protections are being put in place, the girls who have been on this show from the beginning of the team should have enough put away to pay for them to comfortably go to college, or get a good start in their adult lives. Of all the videos and songs of the girls, I have enjoyed Nia's the best, great message, great production values. Is she a star? I don't know. Quirky things can happen, and she could break out and make more money or get cast in a scripted show somewhere. As it stands, I feel the show has had its run, and show bow out awkwardly, but will probably end with Abby having burned every bridge and on the verge of a breakdown when her "empire" crumbles around her.
  9. How so? I had to look JoJo up to remember her. She's an alright dancer, and I think she's on Dance Moms now because a. She fits the company at this age and size, and b., Her mom will probably bring drama, scripted, or not. I do feel many of the moms are stage moms and want fame for their kids, but I don't know enough about this kid to say that her mother has not gotten some kind of speech therapy for JoJo. Her speech sounds clearer to me, and maybe it's just her growing up, and may be that she has had therapy. Looking back at her footage from Abby's other show, her attitude, and that of her mother seemed more of a problem than her speech.
  10. Mackenzie, "Mack Z" has out her own Christmas song and video. "Christmas All Year Long." For age appropriateness and Mack's ability to lip sync I rate this ahead of Asia's. That brings it up to a D-. I could see Mack being pick up by Nick or Disney because she has the look, and at times on Dance Moms, I've found her pretty funny when she was unguarded and just being herself. Musically speaking, she Brooke and Asia should stick to dancing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Js2gI4fJL9M
  11. The Raising Asia forum is dead, but she Asia has a new Christmas single. I like this kid, but the single is HORRID x infinity. I don't know how fake all of the drama was on the show about her manager Billy. She should have kept him because at least she seemed to know to market her as a kid. This single "Christmas Time" sounds like someone auto tuned the Chipmunks. https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/christmas-time-single/id945427627
  12. I'm in the minority here, but this episode, the whole show isn't all that funny, or groundbreaking. It's not any better than or different from My Wife And Kids. The kids are less black-sh than they are bland-ish. The character played Lawrence Fishburne is of the most interesting, and he's reduced to delivering these one liners and walking off. It's hard to explain but the dialogue sound "written" and not natural within the scenes. I'm going to hang in there and hope it gets better in the next few episodes, or I'm out.
  13. With the "Rewind" show it looks like the family is doing damage control. If I had to guess, I would say Kristi was forced to do this cleanup because the ratings are so low and because there has been an overwhelming negative response to this show on Asia's Facebook page. I'd say an 70% to 80% negative comments. I don't see where Asia's father is really helping the situation, and that staged demand to see his daughter's contract was better acted by the agent than by her father. I will be surprised if Lifetime orders new episodes. Asia has managed to land a small role in what looks like a straight to DVD project, one where it looks like Amber Rose has the lead, and Asia plays the character as a girl. The other lead is Eva from ANTM.
  14. I'm a fan of Asia, but this show is terrible. Unlike some, I feel for this child and for her baby sister. Asia can't sign a contract, and can't use any discernment to see that the producers of this show saw the desperation, vanity and ambition in her mother and found that they would make for some great reality TV viewing. As for Asia, the divatude comes across poorly. It's as though her mother and father have forgotten that in any performer of any age, there is a "brand" being sold. What exactly is supposed to be Asia's brand? I can easily see this show getting cancelled before it makes its full run. Her music EP was released on Tuesday. So, where was the build up for that? I guess the show was supposed to be the promo. That vanity label "Neon Pink Records" did her music, and its promotion of her effort appears to one solitary tweet sent out the day the episode aired. Pink is not listed as her label when you look at it on Amazon. Only Asia's mother's name appears. This label has also done Eden Wood's music and some with her manager Billy. I don't get any creepy vibes from Billy. Ironically, he appears to be to be trying to have her come across as a kid. This show serves as a great cautionary tale, but the stage parents like Kristy and even Kristy herself may truly view the show as a chance to make a career for Asia. It just seems like Kristy got played. Fine if it was just her, but her children are have also been set up for ridicule. Shame.
