I think the show’s target audience are tweens and teens. A lot of the issues that they tackle on the show don’t come directly from the books, but are totally relevant to kids today. Anne is really woke for someone from the 19th century. Of course, the show does appeal to a wider audience because AoGG has been popular around the world for over a hundred years. I feel that they’re doing a teen show, but set in the Anne universe.

The thing is that Counting On is supposed to be about the kids and the parents are not to be the stars of the show. I guess the Duggar kids all agree to have the check go to a account managed by their parents. However, Jeremy and Derick have enough life experience to know that they're getting screwed and don't worship JB.

I don't think the Duggar girls know how to be alone because they were never left alone, and they were always busy taking care of their siblings and doing household chores. They also were not allowed to read for pleasure or watch movies/tv shows.
