I think JB is also supporting Anna to make sure she doesn't divorce Josh. He has control over her now. I would not be surprised if he has threaten to cut her off if she doesn't do what he wants her to.

Anyone expecting the Dillards to ever drop their hateful beliefs are gonna be disappointed.

Jill and Jinger’s books are nothing compared to all the sex scandals. Josh is the one who brought shame to the family. Besides, in fundieland, Jill and Jinger are viewed as the bad ones not JB & M.

The Other Duggars: The Lost Girls and Amy

“My story would be completely different from Jinger and Jill’s “ No shit, you're not the one who grew up in a cult and you also have no story to tell. -
I don't think anyone in the snarker community believes that the Dillards are now liberals. We all know they still have their horrible beliefs and they probably always will. However, Jill has shown some growth. It's a big thing for her to go against her family. That goes against everything she has been taught as a child.

Well, Gothard didn't really invent anything new. Cults are usually about power, money and sex. (Actually, I would say religon is mostly about power, money and sex.)
-
IIRC, Gothard started this whole thing to prevent kids from rebelling from their parents. So it makes sense that he put things in place to prevent that even in adulthood. As for the in-laws, I suppose they strongly recommend to only have IBLP marriages. If that doesn’t happen, they probably think that their beliefs are superior to others and should only be followed.

I think you are right about the control aspect. He probably had no problem giving them the material thingd they wanted, but giving them a "paycheck" would give them too much freedom.
-
The fact that they had the victims go on TV to defend their abuser instead of Josh defending his own actions tells you how much they don't value their daughters. It's also disgusting how FOX was basically on their side. They should've insisted on interviewing Josh and not the girls and confront the parents about their lies and actions.

I'm guessing he's trashing her to get custody of the kids. She's been pretty vocal about wanting to move back to England. That guy is really trash.- 2.6k replies

The Duggalos: Jinger and the Holy Goalie

Number 3? I totally missed number 2. -
I know everyone says that Jonathan and Nathan are always paying for the Rods outings, but it's not an actual known fact. I'm sure they pay or contribute sometimes but not all the times. I think the Rods do pay for some if not most of their outings. The problem is that they spend money on this instead of essentials stuff like food/clothes for the kids or RV repair. Anyway, just my 2 cents.

Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events
Future Cat Lady replied to maraleia's topic in Counting On
If she divorces him, she loses the Duggar's support. She would also loose part of her own family's support. Even, if she has a few siblings that would like to help her, they can't take her and her seven kids. She doesn't own a house or have any job experience and I don't think she has that much money in her name. It would take a lot of courage and determination for Anna to leave everything to start a new life on her own. Even if she was done with him, she's stuck. -

I have to give it to her. She's really good about extending her 15 minutes of fame. She has zero relevant info but she stills gets media attention. -
The Duggalos: Jinger and the Holy Goalie

I don't know about younger, but I always thought Jeremy would grow frustrated with his uneducated wife. Also, I don't think he married her because he was in love with her, but because she was a meek malleable girl he could shape into what he wanted. I could see him meeting and falling in love with another woman and leaving Jinger. -
I think the letter could come from someone who's friends with the Duggars. My guess would be someone around JB's age or older. Speaking against the parents are such a big thing that a lot of fundies get really offended by it. They don't want their own kids to get any ideas. Also, didn't Gothard start his cult to prevent kids from rebelling and becoming hippies?

I think the only ones I could see getting a new series are Jill/Derrick and Jinger/Jeremy. And that's simply because they've left IBLP. However, I don't know if Derrick would be allowed to do it with his job.
