  1. I'm glad someone else noticed how much Ryan had aged. I guess they've been showing some cobbled together shows from several years ago for the past few years, but I was still shocked at how different Ryan looked. Has he lost weight and that's made him look much older? I thought Colin looked about the same.
  2. Why did Maggie stop to check out Konstantin rather than run after the person kidnapping her granddaughter? There's no way that makes sense.
  3. Yes, I think Rev. Wakely is married (there was a daughter in one of his scenes), and I remember looking for a wedding ring when he was in the first scene with Elizabeth. Since they changed Harriet's story so much, I wasn't sure where they were going introducing a handsome minister at the neighborhood picnic. I don't know if he is in the AME church; according to Wikki, AME church leadrers are called bishop rather than priest. I suppose it doesn't really matter, but I'm an Episcopalian, and I like it when we're depicted as decent characters in movies and television shows. :)
  4. Was it said what denomination Reverend Wakely is? He's either Episcopalian or maybe African Methodist Episcopal? Not that it matters, ultimately, but I noticed someone (Elizabeth?) called him a priest in this episode. I really have to reread the book; I forgot all about the Rev. Wakely/Calvin connection. I think this episode really demonstrates how people with vastly different beliefs can have meaningful conversations about important topics without bullying or belittling. It was a really nice episode and made Calvin's death even more poignant.
  5. It's so fun to watch the early episodes again. CBS was smart to acquire the rights to the UK version. I feel better that the actors' strike ended before it started its run. I wasn't quite sure if I should feel good about watching it while the US Ghosts cast was striking.

For a change of pace, an article about Mike Leach: https://www.johncanzano.com/p/canzano-mike-leach-left-the-world?r=1hd9uv&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web
  7. John Canzano has done a really excellent job breaking down the whole Pac-12 mess over the last few months.
  8. https://www.johncanzano.com/p/canzano-oregon-state-and-washington-cb2?r=1hd9uv&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web For those interested in the Pac-12 realignment issues: the judge has spoken. Hope interested folks can get past the pay wall.
  9. It's especially cute when he jets by the toy aisles, putting up his hand to block his vision and keep him on track.
  10. Did not like the cold open. Not happy that Trump comes off smarter on SNL than he is in his real-life ramblings. Also...the boring joke of Biden falling up the stairs was old last season. Several of the "jokes" in Weekend Update seemed unnecessarily hurtful including another dig at teachers. Overall, not a fan of the show last night. Timothee had a hard time finding his note in the beginning of "Pure Imagination" but seemed to improve at his next entrance.
  11. Beavers over Stanford 62-17. Hopes that College Game Day would visit Corvallis were dashed while Beavers were running over Stanford in the third quarter. Could ESPN be afraid they'd have to address the elephant on the field: their role in the demise of the Pac-12?
  12. I liked that Elizabeth finally stood up to the ridiculous station owner and that Mad has finally had a break through in her search for details about her father. The rest of the episode was very hard to watch.
  13. I’m starting to worry that an old Amazing Race “curse” is going to catch up with Corey and Rob. In the first few seasons, the most beloved team went out in fourth place: Kevin and Drew, Danny and Oswald, among others… Have they come in higher than fourth?
  14. I don’t know…but I wish DWTS would consider it.
  15. No sympathy for Alex Skarlatos from me. He tried to parlay his train heroics and Dancing with the Stars notoriety into a Congressional seat in my district. I wish they allowed the West coast to vote, too. I have a hard time voting for something I haven't seen. That's just a popularity contest. Would it be impossible to announce the eliminated dancer one week later (since they no longer have two shows a week)? Could they do a mini-recap at the beginning of the evening, announce the losing team, and as a swan song, have the eliminated team perform the dance they'd been rehearsing that week?
  16. It is interesting that the actor's departure was only announced recently. In the past, it seems we get news that an actor is leaving months ahead of their last week on the show.
  17. Maybe Dr. Rolf worked some off-stage magic on Stefan and took away his love for Gabi again.
  18. I've read that spoiler on another site. :(
  19. So Li had to die to give Gabi an exit scenario. That's too bad.
  20. Is anyone still rooting for Gabi and Stefan? The actors seem to be going out of their way to make them seem hateful. The writers are setting them up, too making them extra horrible the day after Li had those emotional scenes with Marlena that showcased his vulnerability. Using Rachel to set up Kristen made me sympathized with Kristen, and I never feel anything but irritation for that character. I wonder if Camilla Banus has been directed to act extra campy or if that's her choice. Brandon Barash is also playing up the smug. I can't help but hope both of them get their comeuppance.
  21. I bought full-sized Sour Skittles for my trick or treaters. I knew having left-over chocolate in the house was not a good idea, and kids love those sour Skittles. They don't tempt me at all. I had a few left over to share with my little niece when she visits next time. Candy/cookie related: Did anyone enjoy the original Nestle Pinwheel? Pinwheels had a dark chocolate exterior, marshmallow interior, with a cookie base. Delicious. I associate them with my dad, who loved them. I finally picked up a package a few years after my dad had passed away. As with so many good things, the good people at Nestle had changed the recipe and what was once delicious was cloyingly sweet. Very bittersweet.
  22. Really enjoyed Nancy’s cheerleading Dave’s Double Jeopardy bet.
