And Israel & Sam get the blurr-out - nice. 😪

That's who that was!   I came here to see why some of the kids would be blurred, taking out the Dillard's didn't occur to me.  Interesting because Derrick and Jill don't have a problem with pasting them all over their own social media so it makes me wonder was it TLC's decision because they're not signed on to the show or Derrick's decision because he won't work with TLC or maybe a combination.

There was an Anna sighting though, no Josh of course but she was there laughing with some of the Duggar girls on the couch at the ugly sweater dress up party.    Jeremy in his lumberjack outfit going on to say he has an outfit for every occasion was just making it too easy for us.  And my bug phobia had me begging him and Jinger to take that tree back outside and hose it down with spray - was rare to see the producer or camera man get in on the action though.  That, the candid shots at the sweater party and the little moments with the grandkids being kids were the better parts of the episode; I was JB and/or the powers that be would recognize that most of us would rather see that and a little more "reality" than these staged outings, pageants and scavenger hunts.

  2. As much as Jim Bob grates I liked his interaction with Kendra at the playhouse, you could tell the grass and the ramp were wet and he wasn't being condescending he just sounded honestly concerned asking her to slow down, be careful not to slip.  It was a little cute and one of the more normal interactions seen.  Kendra seems so likable and sort of the anti-Lauren.  I don't blame Lauren for opting out, she may have some anxiety over being extra careful because of the previous miscarriage even if medically she doesn't need to worry but she's just so sour, dramatic, resting bitch faced that it's very hard to give her the benefit of the doubt on anything.

Austin is straight out competitive but Joy is more bundle of nerves competitive she seemed to be too worried about rules and plans and second guessing just about everything to actually have fun with the game.  I felt sorry for the poor businesses who had to trade a little free advertising and community goodwill for having a gaggle of Duggars and their accompanying crew invading them all at once.  Speaking of crew - with the teams running in and out this is one of the few times we really saw the crew, following Ben & Jessa out the door of the rock climbing while others were checking in then storing their stuff in the back of their car.

I watched the second hour because I'm a sucker for wedding dresses and I forgot what most of the dresses looked like but I did fast forward to the dress part and skipped the proposal, rehearsal sections.   Poor Jill, scrubbed out again.  I get that keeping Derrick off screen means they can't show the wedding or proposal but they could have covered her dress even just a minute to show her final choice and they didn't.  Anna was left out also of course and again no fault of hers but her husbands, I get that one a little more since highlighting anything about her wedding reminds us of who she married.  Anna at least pops up in the background at the TTH from time to time - I wonder if Jill cares at all that she's basically been erased from Duggar TV existence (saw her only once during dress shopping).  Maybe not, maybe she really doesn't care at all, who knows but she seems to still want to be relevant with a social media presence so I wonder if having no exposure even in old show clips bothers her.

  3. Loved the finale.  And I definitely enjoy this series, it's just enough story to keep you occupied, there's a lot of fun and comedy so it's not too heavy.  The characters and their actors are great.  I've always liked Christian and Alex is fun, I like Kai a lot and I love that they have chemistry but there's nothing about them getting into it romantically, it's a good balance so far.   And, I have to be honest, I've never heard of the guy who place Ernesto before this; but, after watching him all season, I would watch The Ernesto Show in a heartbeat!   Very much hoping this gets a renewal

  4. Since Tony was my second choice winner and my first choice wasn't even in the F4 I'm OK with the outcome.  The fire challenge was one of the better that they've had; very surprised and a little nervous when Sarah's flames suddenly shot up and her thread started to glow a bit (only for the whole thing to die down a few seconds later but still).

I felt like a little too much of a Survivor geek when they showed the final challenge from above and the minute I saw curved metal, even from that distance, I said out loud "Oh I love this challenge, it's one of my favorites".   I feel like I should not know that much about the game to recognize the ball chute challenge that quickly.  On the other hand I really want to try it someday, when the stakes aren't as high as being voted off and losing a ton of money it looks really fun.

I liked the longer game portion they had on much more than the traditional 2 hr finale with a 1 hr reunion especially since Jeff didn't break in to commentate live every 15 minutes like he usually does.  Maybe TPTB can learn from this and tweak their finals a bit to focus more on the show and contestants on the island and less on the live stage parts.

Might be a controversial opinion but I liked the fire tokens, I know Natalie getting a ton of them skewed the final challenge toward her but she was right in her final tribal when she said getting those by sending people advantages and disadvantages was her way of staying in the game and manipulating things as much as she could.  Despite that though I would love to see the next Survivor theme be something like "Back To Basics".   No tokens, no extinction, less HII and harder to find,  take it back to the way things were S1 to maybe S5 or S6, get a new group of players and see how they manage when they don't get all the advantages they're used to seeing from the past ten seasons or so.   Except for one thing - that idol hidden in plain sight like on the front of Jeff's little podium; if Adam had been right that would have been a brilliant move, they really need to find a way to sneak that in somehow just for fun.

  5. I feel like Sister Francis said more in this episode then she has the whole series.  Really it was more that she found her voice, she was more forceful, more honest and more vocal than I've seen her before but I like the new her (or maybe the growing evolving her is a better way to put it).

Valerie's story was sad but her look is incredible; she is making great use of the hosiery she won a few episodes ago.   I think Beryl threw away her birth control realizing that if her sister could raise a baby while blind she could have a baby and risk it being blind.  I did have to check in with my Mother on the reality of the pills - I didn't think they had those pop out blister packs in 1965 but Mom says they existed then so another check mark for keeping things historically accurate.

Did PBS really have to fuzz the audio for the word "piss" when they said they didn't have a pot to piss in?  Considering the content of this show and the realistic ways they portray labor, births and other medical procedures (like last night bleeding episiotomy) I'm not so sure "piss" was the place they needed to draw the line.

Moved from the episodes threads because the show posted some behind the scenes clip on Instagram. The eighth one is Mo and Eddie singing Bailamos in a crowded club.

That answered my question, especially the club scene - so the dancers are hearing Bailamos on playback but they're grooving to whatever song is supposed to be playing in the club, completely different beat.  Maybe they have hidden earpieces to help but even if they do I still find that really amazing.

  7. <Sigh>   It wasn't my favorite show on TV but it was a favorite of some in my house and we'd at least all watch it together which you can't say about a lot of shows so I am going to miss it.   That and I wish they hadn't left on a cliff hanger - maybe the show runners will do an interview saying where the next season would have gone if they had been renewed so at least we can wrap up the open "How does he rescue the Captain?" mystery.

  8. I love the show, I like the characters, I want more.  But - We need some sort of vote to see who is in the majority here, the Mandy Hate Club or the Mandy Like Club.  I suspect if there was a real poll for that it would fall on the dislike side.

I don't like Mandy very much.  She is OK to be on the show in some form, she's pretty good when she's interrogating.  But when they move into her angst and personal drama she sucks.  It's not that it's not realistic to have those feelings, I'm sure people in her position do feel the repercussions of the things they have to do, it's just that it's overdone in a bad soap opera sort of way and she further over does it with her acting to the point where it's almost caricature instead of believable.  As for her and Jason hooking  up - well that was the only sour spot in a decent finale that wasn't supposed to be a finale.  My sincere hope is this was a one night stand and we do not have a Season 4 full of should we/shouldn't we be a couple drama.

I suspect the final two episodes would have sewn up the plot around who is staying on the team and who is leaving.  I would have liked to have seen that and do wonder how they'll resolve it next season.  But for now I feel like the shortened end was mostly OK but the final scene leaves me sour, of all the ways it had to end watching those two going at it was not exactly the best final scene to be left with at all.

Despite that I'm sill looking forward to another season and am actually happy they're already renewed.

  9. I think I liked it, the first story Grey Matter had an awesome group of guest actors, I could have watched them do nearly anything.  But the story was the weaker of the two, maybe because I vaguely remembered the King story it was based on so I knew most of what was coming.  I liked the second story better; I'm a little amazed how much I was rooting for a bunch of dolls.  Will definitely watch again but I'm hoping that not all of the stories are so open ended as these two, they don't all need a happy ending but I would like to see some with an actual ending.  It was a good start though.

  10. I loved the use of American Pie because I felt like it tied in to each persons story and foreshadowed season 2.   Max and Simon both got to sing about love, although I was sure Max would get the “I know that you’re in love with him” section.  To me it was also telling that Joan got the king looking down jester stole his crown (paraphrasing) lines since she’s taking over Sprq Point temporarily.  Or at least Danny thinks it’s 6 - 18 months of temporary.

Of course I look at it a little differently anyway since I used to be obsessed with that song.  Not just wanting to learn every word of the long play version nut also looking up the meaning behind each sentence. Which is pretty interesting by the way, referencing not just Buddy Holly but the whole era, deaths at a Rolling Stones concert for one example.

I thought the whole episode was strong and really well done not just the end but the whole build up.  Great ending but I definitely need to hear renewal news soon!

Jessica forgetting her purse was so cliche, it was embarrassing.   They might as well have had her twist her ankle as she was getting away.

Real possibility considering they had her in a skirt so tight she was doing this weird mince step like my ankles are tied together type of running as she went across the street for her car.  The one moment in the whole hour I was pulled out of the show and actually laughed out loud.

For the rest - it was really good if a little quick and at some points cobbled together.  I just read an article on TV Line that explained how they were forced to piece together parts of the two cut episodes and compress a few things so that they could make this the finale.  Based on that I have to forgive any hiccups, it really couldn't be helped since it wasn't their choice to lose those episodes and they didn't have a lot of time to adjust and shoot the parts they needed to make this the finale.   Loved Martin's "My Girl" and how he was the general calm eye in the center of the riot hurricane around him.  Ainsley was right about one thing, when he stops panicking and uses that exceptional brain of his Martin can do just about anything and be stone cold while doing it.

Still this is a really well acted show with a good story and very few missteps especially for the first season.  I definitely want more and very much want Tom Payne, Michael Sheen and Lou Diamond Phillips to all return.   Tom of course is necessary, the other two could refuse a second season in theory but it wouldn't be a show without them.  So I guess it's we'll take what we can get in terms of this episode being the finale but crossing fingers that it's not also the final.

If the horse stepped on a mine, no one heard the explosion earlier to question what's going on? Seems odd the group found out about the mines at that time.

Maybe the horse had the same supernatural sound muffling technology as the helicopter that took Rick away with nobody seeing or hearing?

I couldn't understand half of what Beta was whispering mumbling either but I figured it was along the lines of "crazy talk, crazy talk, kill everyone, crazy talk, crazy talk, Alpha is my spirit guide, crazy talk, crazy talk, Cat!"

Since both Aaron and Alden are personal favorites of mine I did not like that they were both in danger the whole time especially at the end.

It wasn't a bad episode, it was definitely a set up for the big finale war to come but since those types of set up episodes seem to always be a little slow I think it was OK as those things go.

  13. I thought Chuck Norris was going to be the code breaker that Lincoln said he'd contact for McGarrett but since he didn't show up again and he's not in the credits for part 2 I guess that's all for Chuck.  If that's the case it was a disappointingly short cameo.

If the show was being renewed I would have fully supported Adam being killed in the shoot out with the gang and Lincoln getting a pardon and joining the team.

It was a pretty good set up and episode although I'm honestly surprised they spent that much time on the crime of the week and not following the story of the package from Doris; basically leaving the final mystery and the general "goodbye" vibe for the final hour.   This is going to be the fastest mystery in the history of the series; any other time it would be a full season arc.  I am actually a little curious how this is going to play out - my guess is if they don't end with the team in the station like it's just another day and instead have some of their stories or futures come to an end they'll still leave just enough open to accommodate a few TV movies down the line.  It happens sometimes but for the most part they rarely fully close the door on a successful series.

  15. Last episode delayed because of the virus, they can't complete the post production on E16 so Sunday April 5th will be the "finale" and the best they can say about the remaining episode is they'll be shown later this year.

    https://tvline.com/2020/03/24/walking-dead-season-10-finale-episode-16-delayed-coronavirus/

Edited to correct episode numbers - I originally said two episodes E16 and E17 are affected but only one episode (E16) won't air and there is no E17.

  16. I feel like Shaun and Lean are going to go in another direction.  But it's probably my wishful thinking talking not anything I know about the show's plans.  I think Lea get's it now, why Shaun loves her, what she means to him and how she affects him.   So I wonder if instead of oh wow I love him too it's going to be OK now I get it and I know how to have a real talk with him about being close friends, like an adopted brother and sister closeness and continuing to support each other going forward.  Because when you think about it, if Shaun is able to look at it this way, he and Lea did nearly all of the things he spoke to Vera about before they were even roommates.   I'm hoping that's the conversation they have and Shaun get's to that place where he can cut the romance wedge off their little friendship cake and keep the rest.

As for the death(s?) - I really wanted it to be Andrews.  Sorry to all his fans but he's my least favorite character.  He also seems least likely to die at this point.  There was a tease that there would be multiple deaths but never that it would be main characters so I'm thinking at least one of the victims is included in that.  No offense but it needs to be the kid that Park is treating; I think he needs to not win this one.   I'm also suspicious that there's going to be a twist and Carly is going to die - she was my vote from the beginning and she has very little to do now unless the writers plan to get her back with Shaun.  I'm absolutely not spoiled on this it's only an opinion but I'm wondering if part two will toss us the curve of Carly showing up in the ER as a patient from another disaster site and they can't save her.

Speaking of Park's patient,  a few of you made some comparisons of his injury here to another TV show.  I'm going back further and a little obscure but has anyone here ever read the book "Aztec"?  There was a bit in there where the mental picture of it freaked me out as a kid (considering the heavy violence and sex in it I was probably a little too young when I read that book tbh) - A sheet of marble falls on a quarry worker edgewise and cuts him in half just like the kid.  And just like the kid he lives for a time and they even try to carry him home to say goodbye to his wife.  That was all I could think about when Lim saw the injuries to the kids lower half and legs.

  17. There were things to like

Danai crushed it, warrior mode, vulnerable mode, killer neeganite mode, drugged out, crying, screaming.  Even her reaction to finding out Rick could be alive, the shock and     the full on sobbing..       she's one character you don't see break down often.  Whatever they threw at her in that script she went for it full force and deserves every credit for   what we saw.

The flashbacks were sort of fun in a weird way; that first one when she turns her back on Andrea goes all the way to the end of Season 2.  For some of the older scenes it was   interesting to think "Oh I remember that" and to see how they inserted Michonne into the existing footage.

Nice touch with using the name Virgil and using the character to take Michonne on he own personal journey through Hell.

And that's about it.  As interesting as her "what if" trip was the episode was mostly a dragged out mess of a story line.  Even the ending, she doesn't got back to make sure her kids are set up with a secure place to stay?  Maybe tell a few adults "Hey watch them for a year or so will you" get them settled and then go off?  Her plan is Rick is alive....somewhere...in the world narrowed down to possibly the entire continent of North America?  How did she even know which direction to set out looking?  Then we meet the next generation of survivors which appear to be a modern day version of Go West Young Man but that's it, one tempting look and they're gone.   OK maybe they'll come back to that group, either in the series or maybe we'll actually get the movie of Rick's journey they talked about when he left; that's a pretty open unknown   (PS:  Why do these other survivor groups all seem to have uniforms?  Whisperer face skin, Saviors leather and denim, New group animal skin poncho's).

To me this was pretty much a farewell to the actress and the character that they used as a filler episode before they hit what will be (or at least what should be) the action packed last three episodes of the season.

  18. During the challenge someone speculated that Sandra was sitting out as many as she could to rest so she'd be a little stronger than the others and to fake them out as a non-threat so they wouldn't bother getting rid of her before the merge.

Well that all became moot anyway - When Denise made her deal with Sandra at camp I turned to the family and said wouldn't it be funny if Denise used this to vote out Sandra and she'd still get to keep one fire token.  But I never thought she'd actually do it, I wasn't even sure she'd think of it.  That was definitely a move - good for the game and good for her outwit resume if she makes it to the end.

I can't decide about Tyson and the peanut butter.  He has a point about keeping strength up and using it as a bit of a morale boost; but at the same time the fire token could have bought him and advantage in the challenge where they compete to return to the game.  I can see reasons to buy both I just can't decide from an outsider perspective which is the better choice.  I can say though I can see where he has matured and changed a bit (his pretend to make pee pee was a great Dad phrase) and I at least don't mind having him on my screen like I thought I would.

  19. I liked, and when I say liked I mean respected or thought was clever not enjoyed, the way they showed that Randall hasn't changed in how he views his Mother, their relationship and his responsibilities.  A year after Jack's death Randall is very, very sure that his Mom shouldn't be dating or looking at other men, Kevin is automatically wrong in trying to even introduce Rebecca to another guy and Randall can take care of things no other man needed in his Mom's life.  Jump forward about 20 years and - Randall is very, very sure that his Mom should go to the clinical trial he found, Kevin is automatically wrong for even wanting to delay talking about it and Randall can take care of things no need to consult the man currently in his Mom's life even though Randall's solution effectively takes Rebecca away from her actual husband for nearly a year.

Those two scenes made it very clear how Randall see's his role and the lack of respect he has toward others who might have even a small opinion about how his Mother's life should go.

They both landed some low blows in that argument but Kevin was not wrong this time.  I wish he had said this to Randall, I wish Randall had thought of it himself but..........Why couldn't Randall have compromised, why did he have to hit her with the big sell right at the party.  So she was upset because she couldn't remember the hotel name and he wanted to comfort her - how about "Mom I know you get upset when you have an episode and forget something.  In fact I had some ideas about that and Kevin and I wanted to talk to you about it over breakfast.  But let's not let it spoil tonight, let's just have fun and enjoy the party.   We can talk more in the morning if you want, tonight is about fun and family".

Rebecca did look wonderful in that dress.  I do wonder though how late is the museum open that they went to the movie premier after it was dark out, watched the entire movie, spent time at the after party and Rebecca STILL had time to gain admission and see the painting - even accounting for winter's early sunset shouldn't it have been something like 10-11pm by then?

Thanks, Zoey, for making me feel really old, when you said you didn't recognize the song Moondance or Van Morrison. 🙂

I was upset watching the first episode when she didn't recognize "I Think I Love You"  (was and still is my favorite Partridge Family song).  But then again I like oldies as much as I like current stuff and I think we're supposed to believe Zoey has been too busy to get deep into music since she wasn't completely sure about Mad World or I Wanna Dance With Somebody either.  As though she sort of knew them but wasn't sure.

Things I don't hate but have trouble with - Zoey not being as interested in Max as he is in her because, well, it's Skylar Austin for pete's sake, can't imagine turning him down.  Also Andrew Leeds as David because I can't see him as anything but the evil Pelant who tried to frame and kill Bones & Booth multiple times.  Very hard to look past the former character and see him as "nice guy" now.

But those are just perceptual things more based on the actors than the show or characters.  I like the show, I like the song and dance numbers, some more than others.  I like wondering who is going to sing next, why and what song will it be.  It is, so far, just plain fun.   Also very curious if "I Got The Music In Me" is the permanent opening sequence now or if they'll switch it up (or a mix of the two, the song is permanent but picturing them changing up the ending each time from piano drop to Zoey falls in the bay to being hit by a rogue street car - morbid I know).

Oh one other complaint - Mo needs to sing more because Alex Newell has an amazing voice.  Don't want to see him or any of the others over used but do want to hear him at least every other episode or so.

Basically it's just an hour of fun when things are too serious.  Wondering too if it's really successful will they release a soundtrack of the best songs from the series.

Parvati and Rob had the funniest conversation on the beach, and Rob making it through the first tribal council proves he’s still crazy good at this game. However, his love for Amber is 100% Achilles heal, so when he finds out she was the first out, he’s going to screw up his game by getting overly emotional about it. I expect he will not make it anywhere close to the merge.

I have to admit I'm unreasonably excited to see Rob's face at the next IC when the tribe walks in and Rob see's Amber isn't there.  Will he keep the poker face, get pissed, give Sandra the stink eye or keep cool but vent it all in a talking head?  As much as I don't want this to be the Rob/Parvati/Sandra season I am looking forward to the screen time Rob might get for his reaction.

Tyson please don't make me like you - I'm very comfortable rolling my eyes at that fact that you're even a contestant and you have to go and share something cute and sweet with the "My kids and I made a daisy chain to count down the days" remark.

Yul is still a handsome devil and I'm happy to see him go as far as he can.  Ethan too because he's pretty nice and chill but I wonder if he's mellowed to the point where it's too much nice not enough game play or if he's holding back.  Other than that there was too much going on, too many people; pretty much like the first episode of any season where even though we know these people (some more than others) it's too soon to see who is going to stand out, who really has their game play and alliance's going and who is going to crash and burn early.

Also how did half of Sandra's tribe fall for her "I heard so and so throw out your name for the vote" ploy?  Have they never seen her play before?  She is the last one they should be trusting to tell them the truth especially when it's about something that keeps her in the game.

  23. For a show that always has wise pithy comments and serious talks at the ready the one time they really needed it they dropped the ball.  Why didn't they have Regina tell Sophie what she needed to hear...Sophie said don't tell her to get over it.  Regina should have replied that Sophie doesn't have to get over it but she does have to deal with it and attempt to move forward with her feelings even if just for herself because staying in angry mode for months and months isn't healthy.

Didn't see the no scar thing coming.  Even if it is a bit too soap opera-ish I still want to see where that's going.

    Bolded for highlights.

First, their luck was AGGRESSIVELY bad.  They were not 'normal', they really were cursed.  Chuck may have not been directly pulling all the strings, but things like picking a lock is a skill.  They could do it in their sleep.

    Enjoyable moments:
    - J2 comic timing was spot-on throughout the episode. For Jared I particularly liked his facial reaction to "the giant is crying" and his "I think you may be lactose intolerant".  For Jensen it's hard to downselect but I'll go with the 'tap out' moment (actually clever of him IMO) and the quiet freakout before sitting in the dentist chair.
    - Everything Garth.  Very satisfying to see him doing so well.  He's overcome his PTSD about the tooth fairy ('she had it coming'). And he's still got that goodness in him.

and then we come to the "Pink Elephants On Parade" moment (i.e. when Dean is hallucinating on dental drugs).  At first I just screamed.  I don't know if it was laughter or shock but I was just sitting there, mouth gaping as the scene unfolded. Then I watched in awe as Jensen just threw himself into the bit. And of COURSE he's an excellent dancer.

I'm definitely watching again.  I think there are moments to savor.  And I am curious to see how I feel about the episode after the next few episodes air and after the series is over. Personally I have no doubt that Sam and Dean are Big Damn Heroes and that while Chuck may be trying to convince them they have no free will or skills, that's gonna fail.

I agree they're cursed into bad luck, no hero, common man status.  That isn't their real status and neither is their "regular" life of being the full on hero of everything goes right for them because it's been written that way not because of any skills they have.  To me the biggest clue is what was our biggest complaint and topic of discussion in the early seasons (maybe up to S8 or so?)........Which is Sam's incredibly poor fighting skills.  He was always the first to be disarmed, knocked out or thrown across the room.  He was rusty after walking away and going to Stanford.  They built up skills over time they didn't just have it all handed to them by cosmic force.

If you take the episode at face value the boys have been written as extra lucky do no wrong hero's from the start.  If you take it as Chuck screwing with them or a curse or both the boys have skills that have been added to or improved over the years (cue voice of Liam Neeson having a particular set of skills speech) and whatever has affected them has not only pulled that ability but aggressively negated it.  I'm standing on Door #2, boys have skills all on their own.

Dean Dancing - worth a re-watch.  And I really, really want to know how much of that footwork was his and what was a double.  I thought some of the tap dancing must have been a pro double except for that ending on the table seemed to be him unless they CG'd someones feet into the shot.  But even if he only did half of it....<clap>, <clap>, <clap> well done Jensen

Also Jared has that potential Walker Texas Ranger re-make gig lined up after the show ends.  I'm starting to think Jensen should look into a romantic comedy movie or a sitcom.  He's been stuck in drama land a long time but he really does do great with comedy, the timing, the physicality, the facial expressions; I'd love to see him in something light and funny.
