  1. I do think this season is focusing too much on Diana. Maybe because I lived it, I'm kinda bored. I feel Elizabeth Debecki was so lauded here that they felt they had to milk it and extend this story. I'd rather they started this season after Diana's death - I don't feel this is adding much to the conversation.

I'm much more interested in the Queen and what's going on with her as that stuff wasn't in the press as much. I like the subtle stories about events they dealt with and it was more focused on character, not what happened. I realize Diana's death was a thing for them to deal with, but I don't need multiple episodes leading up to it.

  2. This shortened season just seems off to me. The subjects, while having good stories, for the most part don't seem very excited to be there. Then again, aside from Jonathan, I don't think the hosts are excited to be there. They all just seem to be going through the motions now.

On a shallow note, Denton was bringing the Pedro Pascal-ness. He was super cute and did seem like a genuinely nice guy. His exchange with Jonathan about his name was so sweet.

  3. I'm all in this for Alan Cumming. He chews that scenery like a rabid goat and I love it. I don't watch the Housewives-type reality shows so I know very few of the people but it is still a fun watch. Can't wait for the turret scene to finish next week. Phaedra was pissed (although its a total overreaction).

Kevin is hot but dude, close your mouth. I imagine he's probably a douche based on his show but I can still look at him. Also, Bergie is super cute so I wonder if he was as endearing on Love Island. Doesn't seem like the type of show he would be on.

While I enjoy this show, it's basically nonsensical. The traitors basically have the run of things and have to do very little because someone belches and suddenly they're a traitor! There is just no incentive for the traitors really when it comes to challenges. I wish there was something like a separate pot for them and whatever the Faithfuls don't get, the traitors do so it's in their interest to sabotage.

I've only seen Trashelle on her initial season of The Real World (which is the season that caused me to finally tap out) but I can't STAND her. I

Same here. Las Vegas made me need to have a Silkwood shower and she was the main reason.

  5. Just finished watching the series and I have some thoughts. Scott Speedman is incredibly hot here but man, Ben was a terrible, terrible person. I know he had shitty circumstances growing up but I have whiplash from he and Felicity's back and forth and he was always such an ass.

I really enjoyed John Ritter (RIP) as Ben's dad. Not a fan of the pregnant Lauren thing but he did elevate that storyline a lot. Also liked seeing a lot of these random CW-type actors in their early days (except Amy Smart - she annoys me).

The biggest travesty on this show was the Elena character. She barely had any storyline ever and then they kill her off only to bring her back with no explanation. I know there were cut scenes explaining it, but it shows how little they thought of her to think the viewers wouldn't question it. I did enjoy the Javier/Elena friendship but it wasn't developed enough.

  6. Yeah 161's pettiness with 302 was the final nail for him. If he had been more gracious, he might've made it out. And Dr V...what was he thinking? Making yourself so visible (and pushy) right before the vote was not the smartest idea. This was a time being a wallflower was a good idea.

If 432 had made it through the game, he probably would have been gone in the voting so . . . .

Yeah there was no way he would've made it through that first social challenge. I think they tried to humanize him with his talk with Leann, but to me it fell flat. Then he mocked someone for crying again and I was done with him.

  8. I came into this mainly for Matt Bomer (and a bit Jonathan Bailey) as I am big fan. But Hawk can be such an ass. I guess this is a testament to MB's portrayal that I love and hate him simultaneously.

And I want to root for these 2 guys but I've realized while this is a love story, it is also a toxic relationship and as we know how it more-or-less ends, there is no happy ending here. It sucks for Tim because he never got to experience true happiness and it also sucks for Hawk because of the same (just in a different way).

I will say that at first, Tim's sister annoyed me but as I've pondered, I realize she is totally justified and I hope she comes back and continues to give Hawk the death glare.

  9. Finished this last night. Not much more to add from my previous post but I will reiterate that Mark Ruffalo was miscast and a lot of things were dragged out for suspense that didn't need to be.

I also read about the book to TV differences and there were some significant ones that made me question some of the TV choices. Although now I want to read the book so I guess that's a good thing!

One thing I missed - when they were first walking into the tent at the beginning of the show, Matty said he didn't even know what "botanicals" were and had to ask "Lara." Who? Who's Lara? Is that his girlfriend or something? See, we need more backstories with the bakers.

Yes she is his fiance. We saw her in Week 1 or 2 in the back story part for about 3 seconds. I do agree we need more "at home" time.  Also, it was odd him saying he doesn't know what botanicals are because they've all known the theme of the week for a while. I guess he was just being cheeky.

Her interpreter is translating simultaneously, so I was surprised they didn't just put a microphone on him. It's not like they try to downplay his presence.

I wonder if he talks on screen, they have to pay him more or something? Like an extra versus a speaking role. But, I do love sign language and the silence of it is refreshing in a "chaotic" show like this.

  11. I tuned in for the hot leads and the promise of hot sex scenes and I enjoyed both (I also did not expect to see peen in this).

But, I also actually enjoy the story. Matt Bomer playing as ass is an adjustment but he's good in the role. I think this first episode was supposed to show his hardness but at the end, he had softened with the request for cuddling. So, I hope moving forward, their relationship is a bit healthier.

And I don't know why, but I was surprised by how much I like Allison Williams in this. I think the fact that I hated her on Girls still is in the back of my mind but in movies like Get Out and The Perfection, she has shown she actually can act so I'm on board.

  12. I've not read the book so I can't compare. I've watched the first 2 episodes and I'm mostly enjoying it.

I'm not sold on Mark Ruffalo's accent. The Nazi's seem cartoonish at times (that doctor at the academy was way over the top). I'm also not sure we need the big cliffhangers each episode as it's only 4 to begin with.

But, it's an interesting story and I'm excited to see where it goes.

  13. I am probably one of 5 people who don't really care for the Sazz character so am not looking forward to more of her next season (in flashback). But, I do think it will be a good mystery as it is personal to them.

I am so happy Uma got an episode about her this season because I could watch Jackie Hoffman read a phone book. Her commentary at the play was magical. She's so good.

It was weird with all the job offers for Loretta. I imagine she would have a contract with the musical to stay for a while. But maybe with the producers in jail and her romancing the director, it's not a concern. They should want to keep her though, since she seemed like the best part of the show.

Overall, as a Broadway geek, I enjoyed the season and the mystery. The show is uneven at times and veers off on random tangents (the whole concierge doctor thing kinda went nowhere except to get Oliver on stage) but a good season overall.

  14. I think Roo was talented but the last couple of episodes she gave off this superiority vibe which I didn’t love. It obviously bothered her to not get a ding dong towards the end. But having said that, she did deserve to make it to the finals as did the other two. Saphron deserved the win and am happy for her.

And speaking to stank attitudes, Wezley annoyed me a bit too. He was way too cocky at times and I actually laughed when he was so confident in that faceoff with the Smokey eye and then got cut. He did not see that coming.

Overall an okay season. I feel they keep veering into FX as the primary makeup and I love the glamour looks.

  15. I know this show has so much history but I really wanted a Crushinator/Bender scene in the Momazon episode.

The pandemic one was interesting. I'm glad Hermes (and LaBarbara) got to shine but thought the whole voodoo thing was just a bit off to me. I did both laugh and cringe at the Professor sticking that swab up his nose.

But she has an expensive wardrobe?

Didn't Mabel say in Season 1 that she is wearing her aunt's clothes? Or maybe the aunt buys her outfits. I do wonder how Mabel eats and pays for anything though.

Agreed on the Joy disappointment. I was so rooting for them and they seemed so sweet together last season but they've leaned into Andrea Martin's quirky abilities to the extreme. Also, did they mention her moving in before this episode? It seemed out of nowhere but I may have just missed it.

American here too, but I think that prom DID happen at the end of their school year. Google says that GCSEs are in May and British school year runs from early September to mid or late July. So I guess the Paris trip people got to miss a week of school in, like, June or something, and then when they came back it was basically the end of the year and they had their prom. There's also a conversation between Nick and Charlie that mentions the Summer holidays coming after the Paris trip.

Thanks I missed that part but makes sense. I just assumed the Paris trip was into the summer since they finished their exams.

  18. I loved the Tao/Elle arc this season. I love Charlie/Nick but their story seemed a bit of the same each episode with Nick fretting about coming out and Charlie reassuring him. So I am glad he is out now and we can move on. Hope we delve into the eating disorder a bit more.

I felt this season was somewhat filler and more a bridge to next season because so many good stories were set up: Darcy and her mom, Elle's art school adventures, the teachers' relationship, and Isaac's figuring himself out.

Also, as a 'Murican, do proms always happen at the end of summer/start of school in the UK? Here they tend to be in the spring/end of school. When they were first talking about it, I thought "they are really planning ahead!".

  19. I agree the holding hands, especially at the Eiffel Tower, was a bit much for people trying to be covert. I get that Nick is not "stereotypical" but it would be so obvious to me they are a couple.

Of course, I'm not the demographic for this show as I am an old man. I think it's so cute that a hickey is this big dramatic event. Oh to be young. But I love it so much.

Also, is that the end of Charlie's eating disorder storyline? I don't need it to drag but it seemed resolved pretty quickly.

Finally, is Isaac not out? Someone mentioned that Charlie and James are the only gay guys on the trip. Isaac is so underdeveloped that I realize I know very little about him other than he likes books (and James).

  20. A good start to the season. The boys are just so cute with each other and I loved the montage of their relationship. I laughed at Charlie's parents reaction to the Nick reveal and his dad getting huffy about potential "hanky panky".

I know there will be some downs coming (Ben!) but this was a nice start.

  21. Love the "pillow" talk! The whole thing seems very Tricia who is in way over her head.

Bridget Everett is so very good in this role and I will repeat that it is a travesty she wasn't nominated for an Emmy for Season 1. I hope they rectify that in Season 2. Even though I thought Sam overreacted to the Joel "betrayal", I totally understood where it came from especially with the sister reveal and all that's going on with her family. This show is just so realistic on several levels and I love it.

Also, please more hot neighbor in Season 3.

    I wonder why Calculon died.

IIRC, he died drinking poison in that Romeo and Juliet competition with the other actor. The crew brought him back to star on his old show and then he died again when he got crushed by falling debris.

Even though the first episode was super meta, I still enjoyed it. I like how they've settled into the Fry/Leela relationship: she knows he's an idiot and does dumb things but loves and supports him anyway.

Now that it's over, I get why they don't do their best numbers on the broadcast, but for Christ's sake:  DO YOUR BEST NUMBERS ON THE BROADCAST

Totally agree. My partner and I were saying this. I get wanting to highlight the whole cast, but why the opening of Sweeny Todd and not one of the other numbers? And Kimberly Akimbo and & Juliet's choices were not the highlight of those shows.

At least NY NY knew to play their finale in their performance as it's the best part of the show. Probably won't help it extend its run though.

Did we need a jukebox musical version of Romeo and Juliet?

I know it's been discussed but this is a cute show. And the plot is post-R&J if Juliet had lived (and stuff involving Shakespeare and his wife). But, this and Beautiful will tour well which I think is the goal. It's almost like Broadway is becoming the launching pad of national tours. There used to be some breathing room between the show and tour, but Funny Girl is heading out already.

Oh and yay! on Alex and J Harris winning. And so many queer winners overall.  I wish we had seen Lea's face when Alex won.

  24. I am rooting for Heidi and La La. I like both of them. Alexis has stepped it up too so good for her. I'm bummed Monica went home because I think she could've brought it if she had more time. Plus, I'm not a huge fan of Darienne.

And I don't know what it is, I just don't like the huge breastplates that these queens wear. I get it with Jimbo as an exaggeration, but they never look real to me and always distract from what is often otherwise a nice outfit.
