  1. I can't think of any reason I still watch this show. I started watching during a period when most of my other shows were on hiatus and my dvr was empty. It has gotten progressively more treacly and ridiculous. The hair, makeup, costumes and Elizabeth's terrible wig are so distracting. The Hallmark lettering on all the town signs is laughable. The over-acting is so blatant, it seems to be deliberate. The medical stuff....well I can't. Even. I know that Hallmark movies are fully formulaic, by design and I only watch when there's absolutely nothing else to watch. Why they would develop a period series that is so totally not period, I can't imagine. Don't know why I find it so hard to quit a show after watching it for a season or two, but if anything can get me to quit, WCTH is the one. Sad.
  2. Probably an unpopular opinion here, but I can't help but feel like I'm being totally jerked around by a show that's taking itself way too seriously. I am, however willing to give it another hour or so before I decide. I guess I have more spare time than discerning sense.
  3. So many things...feeling off balance. Happens to me all the time in life. I could so relate. As a woman in a predominantly male profession, as a step-parent, so often off balance, trying to do the right thing, be the right thing. This ep brought a lot into focus. Then there was Kevin. And vodka. As soon as Randall started searching for Tess, I was panicked. When she popped up in the back seat, I was terrified. And I had another "moment" at the exact same time, thinking about the fuse box/electrical panel and how that's probably what causes the house fire. But now I have to wait a month to see how the rest plays out. The story weavers here are simply masterful.
  4. This season has been a treat to the 15 year-old girl in me and tonight's episode was my 16th birthday party! I teared up when I saw Ellis in the gallery. Real tears. In my 60 year old eyes. Cheesey, yes. As only Grey's can do.
  5. I'm sorry but Season Last of Ray Donovan is leaving me flat. What a shame for such a previously great show to go out with such a lousy whimper.
  6. Have to give a shout out to April in the parking lot: "Check EVERYONE for smoke inhalation!". Looks like she really did learn that lesson! Also, do the writers really have to force these characters to act like teenagers and keep the hospital as their only dating hunting grounds? Let's broaden our horizons here, people! I'm jumping on the happy wagon regarding "Men? Ick!" being fired. Finally. Let her slink away quietly and be quickly forgotten.
  7. I was just thinking about how much I dislike the character of Minnick when it occurred to me that some writer somewhere is still giggling about naming a lesbian "Men? Ick."
  8. I am not 12. I do not enjoy watching shows that are ostensibly for an adult audience where the writers provide material that make the adult characters act like they're 12. C'mon Grey's, you used to be better than this.
  9. Maybe after they all graduate Junior High School, they'll be allowed to use lipstick and learn to actually dance instead of just hopping around. We can only hope.
  10. Good story, good pace. I liked it for those reasons, but hated that Alex was relegated to one scene at the dinner table, showing him laughing with all the others. I realize this was Maggie and her mom's story, but they did manage to set up some relationship angst-to-come, with Mer, Maggie and Riggs. Seems like they're trying to show that Riggs is thinking that Mer will never make the time for him yet Maggie needs him. That was the vibe I got anyway. Glad to see that Richard finally told Bailey off. He needed to get that off his chest to allow for air-clearing to occur, which it sort of did. Don't fully understand his comment about Ellis never forgiving him though. That felt like a bit of a retcon in the middle of the Richard-Bailey moment. Loved the sisters over lasagna scene at the end.
  11. Lovely, lovely episode. Of course the acting is the best I've seen anywhere for so so long, but I'd like to take a moment and give a little credit to the casting, writing and the music folks here. That song. THAT. SONG. Perfection. And how it tied to "I'd rather them remember me looking up, not looking down" was truly masterful. If I had to list the high points for me, it would be the entire script. So many beautiful moments stitched together to make the strongest hour of television I can remember. And I'm old. That's a lot of television. Thanks, TIU, for giving us some quality TV for a change!!!
  12. I was thinking about posting a rant about how every time a homosexual character is introduced, they almost immediately become a love interest of the other homosexual character(s) in this show. But then it dawned on me that every time a single heterosexual character is introduced, they almost immediately become a love interest of some other heterosexual character in this show. I guess it's just how they roll. It would be nice, however, to have some characters who are never interested in hooking up, like Meredith and Alex, who back in the day joked about it, but just remained pals. I seriously disliked this week's episode because the grown-ass doctor people were acting like children and the patients all suffered because of it.
  13. As an overweight stepmom who came from a hugely dysfunctional family, this episode hit me right between the eyes. The scene when Kate was boarding the plane was truly wrenching. The sadness in feeling left out reflected in step-grandpa's face was truly wrenching. The controlling perfectionist unseen mom on the phone was truly wrenching. Sheesh, these writers were so inside my head that I feel like I deserve a royalty check. This show is tremendous, my biographical information aside. The writing is only bested by the acting. I sure hope they can keep up this quality.
  14. In my state, to change my name, all I'm required to do is start being known by that name. I have to notify institutions like banks, credit agencies, employers, etc. that I have changed my name and start using it for all ID, but no legal action is required.
  15. So NotJo may testify and her abuser husband may surface and she may lose her job due to impersonating a person named Jo. DeLuca may drop the charges in sympathy for NotJo. Alex may take a plea deal. Amelia may leave Owen. Bailey may quit being chief, and Richard may lead a resident revolt. That's a lot of threads to try to remember until January! Whatever happens, I'm just sad we won't get to see Alex in those turquoise scrubs anymore. Dayum.
  16. OMG, this was such a mess of an episode. I hate retcon and I hate when they show attending and chief surgeons who are impaired due to ridiculous overwork. Combine those two things and I really hate it. And I hate strident overwrought Meredith, even if she did make up for it at the end.
  17. I've loved this show from the beginning, but thank God that season's finally over. I hope next season reverts back to the normally great storytelling that used to be Ray Donovan.
  18. Well, it was a CT machine, not an MRI, so no big magnets. I don't know enough about breast cancer staging to call foul at the "Stage 0" diagnosis with a bilateral mastectomy treatment plan ("They want to cut my tits off."). Seems extreme for Stage 0. The cop car passenger side airbag wouldn't have deployed unless there was someone sitting in the seat. There would be Ray's DNA on the driver's airbag, if anyone took the effort to look. Loved the bedside singing. Very sweet.
  19. So Penny isn't a likable character, but she's been forced on us as a wedge to pry Callie out of Grey's? Maybe. I just want to know how the writers have been able to redeem Amelia and change her from horrible to one of the more reasonable voices on the show. Maybe the histrionics of April (reminding me of "A dingo ate my baaybee" levels) and Jackson and Callie vs Arizona are just pushing Amelia to the top? Perhaps it's merely a 'lesser of evils' situation and I'm tired, after all these seasons, of being jerked around.
  20. Thank you for your responses. I understood that he was the Rev's adopted son and the Rev was using him as an example to Frank about how you can love and bond with a non-bio child. Based on some other posts, probably from the "Bookies", I thought there was some backstory on him I had missed. Thanks again!
  21. I'm new to the Outlander series and basically binge-watched the first season to be ready for season 2. It was a lot to take in in a short time and I was dumbstruck by the last episode of S1. So, in the wake of that, I seem to have forgotten who the little kid with the airplane is and what's his significance in the story. Would someone mind filling in that gap, please?
  22. So I guess we needed the plastics/reconstruction patient to ensure that Grey's remains a medical drama, but it felt a little cheap to me. If the point was to get my total sympathy squarely placed on Jackson and increase my irritation with April, the writers were successful. I can only wonder why Jackson didn't pull the plug way earlier since April is clearly only invested in the "me" part of "we". And the fake out about the patient's wedding felt cheap too. Now if they poop all over Alex next week, I'm really gonna get mad.
  23. The thing that makes me so mad is that this persecution story line makes me hold my breath about each and every other story line throughout the entire episode. I hold my breath waiting to see what's going to go wrong with each and every character. It needs to end weeks ago and please put our Severide back in charge of his team where he belongs.
  24. So much in this episode! First, Markus had a personality transplant since last week. He went from being the spoiled schizo-rocker to being the talented, hard working, sensitive and supportive BFF. Ba-baam! Maddie went blonde, but who really cares? Colt went withdrawn so hard he needed four therapists (or maybe just a dad who valued him more than his "brand"). UGH. Luke thinks honesty about his "relaaaaationship" should be enough to fix the problem. Clueless. Avery's a hardworking single dad with a broken heart who can sing the shit out of a tender song. Will's a talented songwriter with a broken heart who wrote said tender song. Gunnar and Scarlett should go unplugged way more often and leave their personal lives out of their careers. All. Of. The. Time. Deacon needs to learn that no bar will assuage his sister-guilt, no matter what he names it and Rayna needs to learn that saddling a 16-year old with her baby sister just ain't gonna fix the problem. But tune in in two weeks to see more of Dysfunction: Nashville Edition!
