  1. Thanks for the recap! I watched while doing other things so thought I must have really missed something. Debating whether to read the books now. So many things to read and so little time!
  2. Yikes, who was Tobias? It's only been a few days and I can only identify Ethan, Kate, Theresa, and Ben by name now. It was definitely mindless summer fun.
  3. Ugggh. Between the townspeople and their thirst for a reckoning and if those kids represent the future, I'm on team Abbie for the win. On another note, what do abbies normally eat. Are there tons of wild animals roaming the earth and repopulating constantly? The abbies can't seem to pass up a meal if something crosses their path. Do they run in groups/tribes and eat rival groups? I hope it wraps up and doesn't come back for another season. I like the idea of a mini series with a beginning and end.
  4. I enjoyed re-watching the pilot. It's been a long time but I enjoyed it as much as the first time around. Sometimes when it's been awhile since you've seen a show and re-watch, it's not as good as you thought. Not the case here. It was a geat start to the series even though, to me, it was a little slow during the scenes with the Prophets. But I liked that everything wasn't all bright and shiny - either with the setting or with the people. Neither Kira nor Odo were overly impressed with or happy to see the Federation. I liked the grittier feel but also liked the more spiritual side, if you will, concerning the Prophets and the religious beliefs of Bajor. As always, Avery Brooks was awesome. I loved him in this role. Excellent choice. I was originally bummed when Ro wasn't to be a part of the series but ended up really liking Kira from the pilot on. Favorite moment of hers for me was the look she gave Bashir when he was going on about frontier medicine.
  5. Jessica has started to grow on me over the season. I like her voice (even though it is nasally which I don't usually like, go figure), and loved her rendition of Jolene. I think I heard her say it was basically her arrangement. I don't think she has dead eyes but I was nervous watching her at first. I thought she looked half amazed about being on that stage and half petrified, like she was going to either pass out or run off the stage. I think she's gotten better over the weeks. To me, it just seems to me like she needs to relax and loosen up more. I thought this is what Harry was getting at in his comments. Not that she should be dancing around literally, but that she needs to loosen up and let the music flow through her. I like Jena also but prefer Jessica. I'm sure, though, she is not going to outlast Jena.
  6. Know it was time, but dang if I didn't have tears in my eyes. I'm more a fan of Jessica but sure she won't be final three. It would be interesting to see a hometown visit to Slapout though!
  7. Hi all. I like Shaw now too. I didn't like her at all at first but have come to appreciate her character. I like the actress, though I haven't seen her in anything else. I also never liked Root and wasn't thrilled about her greater role. Part of it I think was because I loved the relationships between the original four and really liked Carter and hated to see her leave the show. I have started to like Root a little more now; it always cracks me up to see her come in somewhere, guns blazing! I started to like Shaw more with the episode with the young girl who asked her if she was a robot. I thought I could see a little bit of feeling deep down inside instead of always the total blank, unemotional façade. And, of course, anyone who likes Bear can't be too bad in my book.
  8. So glad I found this site (from mentions on TWOP) and this Forum. I recently obtained the DVDs and was just getting ready to start re-watching. This gives me more incentive to get started! This was my 2nd favorite series (after the original, of course.) I never had 'Star Trek' friends before so it will be nice to 'watch' with others and get other's thoughts and insights!
  9. I love this show! I happened across it and thought I would give it a chance. The moms aren't over the top yelling at each other and Dianne is tough but not mean (a la Dance Mom's Abby). I like that she is respectful to all the girls and appears to be teaching them all and not just a favored few. She also seems to care about the girls and is trying to also instill hard work and self-esteem in everyone. I think you can be tough and still be respectful of people. Critiquing and teaching is different from yelling and screaming. Hopefully the show will catch on.
