  1. Sometimes it seems like no one's allowed to just have a NAME anymore on this show, you gotta be named for someone. (But then I was named after a character on a TV show so what do I know?)
  2. One of many, not the sole producer, though she must have at minimum some input into her storylines, you'd think.
  3. Well he didn't even have a bedroom at 'home' so...
  4. As far as I know most states are red by area because big open nearly-empty areas with very little government AND very little population skew red, and most US states have a lot of those big empty zones.
  5. speaking of David: https://www.cinemablend.com/interviews/the-conners-sara-gilbert-jay-r-ferguson-share-thoughts-johnny-galecki-david-return Basically just confirming that the situation continues to be what it's been for years. They'd be happy to have Johnny back and would find some way to work David into the show if he wanted to be there, but they "can't drag him out of the woods of Tennessee" where he's busy with his wife and kids.
  6. Even back in the 80s parents sometimes freaked out about children singing songs that have potential adult implications (even though the kids usually don't get it and aren't bothered by it). There was a TV show that had little kids dressing up like popstars and crooning the tunes, to the kids it was just playing dressup and they were having a great time, but adults had meltdowns. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minipops It's not quite the same as it is today but people often get upset about things when it comes to kids.
  7. Plenty of vegans have nothing against pets, the anti-pet crusaders are a weird minority afaik. Keeping chickens and taking decent care of them isn't necessarily a problem. Obviously you can't eat the eggs yourself and call yourself vegan but many vegetarians would consider those ethical eggs.
  8. Considering she destroyed a funeral home in favor of modern white, the Darlene that would have liked a weird job is long forgotten.
  9. would you believe i'm not actually watching the show, just trying to figure out what happens in the episodes by reading everyone else's posts? it's like archeology 😄
  10. heh, I have one card with a stupidly high limit because I got it long, long ago in a time period when banks were overly generous with credit. It's never gone up, but I can't imagine ever spending that kind of money on it in a year, much less a month! credit card limits can be surprisingly random.
  11. David had more of a spine when he was first introduced as well. It seems to be a factor of what the writers want out of a partner for Darlene in order to bounce jokes and demonstrate her bossiness.
  12. Even the stove had some balance to it iirc. The first stove delivery guy was a major jerk, and Roseanne made at least a cursory attempt to refuse delivery on the second stove before thinking "well maybe I deserve this..." and plotting to sell it. And DJ (in his brief religious phase) got involved and started telling her that she shouldn't, and then a THIRD stove rolled around and I believe at that point she decided that while one free stove might be deserved karma, two was just not right. My memory of the episode, anyway. It was a little more nuanced than just having no morals. The one that really shocked me in terms of integrity was the Disney World episode where Roseanne was just cheerfully cancelling other people's holidays for her own convenience. ha-ha, so funny, other families who've done literally nothing to her will show up at the airport and discover they have no tickets anymore. Ugh. Even the blatant grocery shoplifting Roseanne did in the revival season was better than that IMO. (So sadly it's not quite true that they've never been thieves and fraudsters)
  13. on the one hand i want becky to have a nice man, on the other hand, that should not be her definition of success. a degree and career are more important.
  14. On a show like this the writers are generally just doing what they're told by the people in charge - they flesh out the details but they're not generally choosing the storyline direction.
  15. ABC is not currently planning to air ANY new shows until midseason, except for reality TV, because of the writer's strike.
