  1. I don't like the concept of bringing back past chefs, period. But I am grateful that at least I don't dislike all of this crew. I can't stand Sam or Casey and would really prefer to never see either of them again, but the rest I can live with. Brooke was an all-time favorite of mine until late in her season, when she started to seem a bit too entitled and snobby. I still like her okay and think she's an excellent chef. Sheldon is good too. Katsuji, Shirley, and Tesar are annoying, but not the worst possible candidates for returning chefs. I now remember Amanda thanks to the posters who mentioned the booze in kids' food incident, but I don't think I felt much one way or another in her season, so I have no feelings about her return. Seems like there's some good potential among the new chefs, too. Silvia Barban is semi-well-known in NYC, and I'll be rooting for her, but I'' also intrigued by Sylva and Jim. I liked Gerald right away--too bad he was the first to go. And best of all, NO BLAIS! I don't love Graham Elliot, but I'll very, very happily take him over King Smug.
  2. I was surprised at how much I liked Erin's, despite her tedious use of yellow again. The paper doll concept sounded like it would be kind of predictable, but it worked for me. But there is definitely something weirdly juvenile about Erin's designs. I think she has talent, but her overgrown tween aesthetic gets in her way. Roberi was robbed. He's the most creative of the bunch, IMO, and he's not always successful at translating that imagination into his designs, but he rocked this challenge. His dress wasn't totally original, but it was striking and well thought out. I'd have given him the win. Fingers crossed that next week will be Cornelius's last.
  3. I'm excited for Charleston. Only been there once, but I absolutely loved it, and I had a few memorably great meals while I was there. The new chefs look like a talented bunch. I wish there were more of them so that the likes of Casey and Sam could have just stayed home. I'm kind of indifferent to the rest (not a Shirley fan, sort of a Brooke fan, can't remember Amanda to save my life even after watching the Bravo preview), but I hate the concept of bringing back past cheftestants. Maybe they just couldn't get enough qualified new chefs to apply?
  4. The more I see from this group, the less talented they seem. There just wasn't anything on the runway tonight that was new or beautiful or particularly editorial. I liked bits and pieces of outfits--the cut of Cornelius's dress was lovely, Mah-Jing's mix of fabrics was nicely done--but overall, it was just a big parade of meh. My favorite outfits were the two that were safe--Laurence's and Roberi's. But even those were merely okay. What a yawnfest. No disagreement with the aufings, though. Those were both terrible outfits.
  5. I liked Rik's; it was well made and fit his mom very well. But it wasn't all that interesting and looked very off-the-rack. I was fine with it winning, but I thought both Roberi and Mah-Jing made more interesting and creative looks. Mah-Jing's in particular was fun and suited his mom really well, which is especially impressive considering the total lack of warmth between them. Their dynamic was a little uncomfortable to watch, even more than Jenni's eye-rolling petulance with her mom. How many more chances are they going to give Erin, I wonder. That dress was horrendous. It reminded me of something I wrote to a middle-school dance in the 1970s--and I was *not* a fashion-forward tween.
  6. Dear show, please don't make me hate Dexter. Sigh. Team Blue was the obvious choice for the win--their collection was gorgeous, every bit of it. Those were some of the best clothes I've seen on Project Runway for a while. But I loved a lot of the clothes tonight and half expected them to not send anyone home, because no one truly deserved to go. But no, they had to pull out the "who should go home?" nonsense again. I especially hated it this time because Erin and Dexter were gross Mean Girls, but Cornelius wasn't necessarily the wrong choice to send home--he's not as talented as almost any of the remaining designers. To be honest, I'm sorry Tim used up his save on Cornelius. I felt awful about the way Erin and Dexter treated him, but a more talented designer may be eliminated with no hope of a comebacck just because Tim wanted to make Cornelius feel better.
  7. I did too, and I didn't think it was hoochie, either. The color was rich and warm, and I loved the way he used the fringe (and I never love fringe). And Laurence was absolutely robbed. Her dress was exquisite, and just in a completely different league from the others. Jenni's was okay, I liked the color and didn't dislike the embellishments as much as I disliked Erin's last week. But in no way did it deserve a win over Laurence's. I also haaaaaated Rick's...thing. Zack made a good point about the quality of the leather, which did have a nice burnished look. But it was a butcher's apron, not a sophisticated cocktail dress. Just awful.
  8. She mentioned it tonight, too. I'm glad Tim didn't use it tonight, though. It's still too early.
  9. I hate the ridiculous "who should go home?" nonsense more than words can express, but all the falling on your own sword drama in this episode's version made it even more excruciating. I desperately needed Santino to come along and start singing "Lighten Up, It's Just Fashion." No real argument with Alex going home--that dress was pretty terrible--but pretty much anyone on that team except Mah Jing would have been an equally good choice. That said, there were parts of the collection that I liked. My problem with it was that it was so, so boring. The other team's collection had its flaws (Brik and Jenni's dress, mainly), but it at least had some life and fun to it.
  10. Finally Ana is gone. I loved her daughter, though. Maybe she should have gone on the show instead. Can't wait to see which of these unappealing, uninteresting finalists wins...oh wait. Yes I can.
  11. I doubt I'd watch a show hosted by Joy, because her POV doesn't interest me. But I would probably break my remote in my haste to change the channel if I tuned into a show with Ana hosting. She manages to be both dull and actively unpleasant to watch. It's like staring into the void.
  12. I *hated* Valerie's dress. I thought it looked cheap, and there was nothing baroque OR particularly modern about it. And it wasn't couture. I was relieved that it didn't win. Ken's wasn't my favorite thing on the runway, but it was interesting, at least. I loved Layana's fabric, but the look was a bit costume-y. Still, it's a good thing she stayed and Mitchell went home. If it had been the other way around, I'd have given up on this season for real. Tasya, I agree--Dom was robbed. Again.
  13. This was my favorite episode in a long time, and I can't remember ever envying the racers quite so much as I did during the paragliding task. It looked like just about the most awe-inspiring, fun thing ever. Sheri gets my total respect for facing her fear of heights and just getting on with things, tears notwithstanding. I haven't had strong feelings about her or Cole so far, but I was rooting for them to climb out of last place tonight. Even the screamy screamers couldn't spoil the pleasures of the Alpine scenery. Although Bro-die and Blair definitely tried.
  14. I like Amar, and his food always sounds great, but I think I might skip the finale. I just have a gut feeling that Jeremy is going to win, and I have no interest in seeing that happen. He was mediocre for a good part of the season, then got the sudden redemption arc, but his entitled bro attitude didn't waver no matter how well or how poorly he did. I don't need to see him smug his way through the finale.
  15. Admittedly, there are a ton of candidates, but Valerie's outfit has to at least be considered for worst thing ever on Project Runway. Good God that thing was foul. Not just the color palette or the blobby shape, but the entire concept. Sam's wasn't good, but Valerie should have gone home. I liked Emily's--it was a nice change from her usual design-for-depression looks. But Kini should have won. I loved everything about his outfit. It seems like these judges just aren't into him, unfortunately. Which makes me value their opinions even less.
  16. I kind of loved Fade's outfit, which was dramatic in spite of the stiff fabric underneath, and I thought Emily's was just awful. I was sure she'd be sent home, and it's disappointing that it was Fade instead. Really sorry to see him go. Sam is insufferable, but I did love his dress, and it deserved the win. But Valerie's was *so* boring, I was shocked by the raves it got. I didn't like her in her season, and now I remember why. Tears, drama, and mediocre designs.
  17. I'm happy and somewhat surprised that Daniel Franco is back. He earned some of the teasing he got on season 2 with his spacey pronouncements, his somewhat oversized ego, and all the "follow your bliss" stuff. But the collections he designed independent of Project Runway, years ago, were gorgeous. I always thought he was more talented than he was given credit for. And he was very sweet, really. I hope he does well. Also super happy that Kini is back. But I can't for the life of me remember who Mitchell is, even after reading about him.
  18. I'm very happy with the outcome, though really, I'd have been fine with any of them winning. I loved at least a couple of things in every collection. Really really sad that this is over. I'm going to miss these kids.
  19. When the designers were explaining the inspirations behind their designs, I realized that they're not just better designers than the majority of the Lifetime-era seasons of Original Recipe PR, they're also more articulate and thoughtful! I loved all the looks tonight, tbh. Peytie's and Maya's especially, but they were all good.
  20. Well, that was awful. Why couldn't they just send Jaxson home and not Zach? I was really hoping for a Tim Gunn save for Zach, though it would have been pretty awkward to do that for just one of the two eliminated designers. Maybe they'll surprise us with a Zach save next week... Maya's outfit was SO good! Samantha's was excellent too, probably my favorite thing she's done this season. But Maya's was amazing.
  21. I completely agree--it seemed very close for the first two rounds, and then Line's dessert sunk her. David's dessert sounded like much more of a "wow." I would have been fine with Line winning. She kept getting stronger and stronger throughout the season, which was cool to watch. But I think David was just a notch above everyone else all season, and he earned the win.
  22. I so wanted it to be Sabrina and David in the final. Sabrina is a little too cocky, but she's so talented--more creative than Line, and though Line is obviously an excellent cook, I felt like she barely squeaked through a few times, so she was lucky to get all the way to the semifinal. I'm okay with either Line or David winning, but I also don't care as much about the outcome now.
  23. I just love these kids. They don't bicker, they don't whine, they support each other, and they're *so* talented. Even Matt was sweet and appreciative in defeat. This show is my happy TV place, basically. That said, I kind of think Zach was robbed again. I'll grant that Peytie and Maya's look was more surprising, but Zach and Samantha's had such a good balance between modern and classic, and between understated and wow. I didn't think there was anything really bad on the runway tonight (although Zachary and Matt's really was tortured, as the judges said), but Zach and Samantha's was the one I wanted to steal right off the stage. Nice to see some of the more likeable PR:Original Recipe designers. Not Amanda, but the other three are all talented and nice.
  24. Really sad to see Jesse go--Ihe seemed like one of the more talented people there, and a very sweet kid, too. I expected him to go much farther. Based on the quick glimpse we got of Bridget's outfit, I think she might have been my favorite. The skirt almost seemed to be referencing a plaid flannel shirt tied around the waist, skatepunk style, which is really cool. And Maya's outfit was excellent--I wanted it, and I'm about a million years past school age. But I thought Peytie's outfit was very cute and original, and I'm fine with her winning. These kids are just so talented, and so likable. I wish original recipe PR were even half as enjoyable nowadays.
