Wow! what a wise man Killer Mike is! I had never heard of him before Grammy night and I must admit I judged the book by its name. I have changed my tune. The story of him and Ana on Bill Maher's show (in 2016!) was cute.

He's been on Real Time w Bill Maher several times, so I was familiar with him.  I did love him taking Sunny to task after she said he supported Georgia governor Brian Kemp.  For all of Sunny's degrees, it seems she can't grasp the simplest of nuances.

Chef, (be still my beating heart), his food looks amazing but dear lord he moves like molasses going up hill in the winter.  That will bite him in the ass, nobody wants to sit for an hour between each course, he better figure out some stunning dishes that take less time.

That would turn me off in a big way.

When Kevin and Sandra were doing so well I figured it was Sandra figuring out the answers but they showed Kevin get one right away so it might have been him and he might be playing dumb. He’s laying it on a little thick if so lol.

I've watched Bling Empire.  Trust me, Kevin is not playing.

This episode was disappointing because nobody left.

So disappointing!  The best thing about Traitors is the high body count.  Somebody goes home in the first five minutes, someone goes home in the last five minutes.  It's a winning formula.  Stop fucking it up, producers!

Ah--in that case, just a big party that Truman Capote through with a very carefully considered guest list that made a big splash.

Yes, I'm familiar with the actual party.  It's funny, CBS Sunday Morning recently ran a tribute to the late great Charles Osgood, they reran a few of his stories, one of which, was of course, the Black & White Ball.

Let the man speak and then rebut if you've got facts that contradict him, but stop talking over anyone who isn't singing Biden's praises. An informed public can stand to hear opposing viewpoints.

Right, it's not as if someone's going to say "You know, I was a [Biden or Trump] supporter, but after hearing what Chris Christie said, I now support [Biden or Trump]"  That's never going to happen.

Yes, me too. But the writers of the show are being careful to keep the conversations about things known in the news like someone’s divorce without going into details that would make the scenes more interesting.

The scenes are more than interesting to me.

Since the black and white ball never happened, I’m thinking the real life lunches and dinners were boring and the show doesn’t have anything interesting to say about the swans except that they are rich and either cheated or got cheated on in one of their many marriages.

I haven't watched the episode yet, can't comment.

The article Capote wrote for Vanity Fair and the aftermath are known but exact meetings and conversations between him and the swans is just being guessed at.

Of course it is.  That's why I'm watching.

  9. Bobby and Tan are my personal all-stars in this cast.  They both do their jobs well, and it shows they know what they're talking about.  I could easily do without Jonathan or Antoni, I would welcome a re-cast.  But it's Karamo who I would love to see booted.  I don't need to hear any more mushy platitudes or dime store psychodrama.

In the flashback, it’s shown that Gabrielle (and friends including Patrice) shot her husband, Jacques for betraying the country and trying to flee to Argentina. Philippe and his mother witnessed the killing from their home.

That was a compelling scene, one by one, citizens coming out of the shadows!

Is it really necessary to provide Jean Pierre with such a detailed backstory?

It seems like he's an integral part of the plot, so we'll see.

Nope, he made her a screwdriver. So lazy.

Not that it matters, back when I was tending bar in the 80s, a vodka with oj and cranberry was a madras.

And can anyone explain the point of Phyllis Diller being at Joanne Carson's Thanksgiving?  She did nothing, said nothing, but her presence was very much a distraction.

It illustrates, in a fun way, that Mrs. Carson is a C-list celebrity collector.

She only named Gretchen Whitmer who has not expressed any interest in running.

In March 2023 both CBS Sunday Morning and 60 Minutes ran glowing stories about Whitmer and her work as governor.  Politicians don't start a PR campaign for no reason. It led some to believe, like myself, that she was laying the groundwork for a run for the ticket.  Biden didn't say he was going to run until April 2023.  During that month, I suspect there was some DNC tomfoolery in GW backing down and JB going all in.

  15. This show is just weirdly produced.  After losing the charismatic Moses, the producers focus on the two leads only to have the third episode in a six episode season a "When they met" episode that relies on flashbacks with two younger actors, followed by one of the leads disappearing for episode 5.  That being said, even after that lame kiss, I still get more of a brother/sister vibe from our two leads than anything else.

He went and told all of his friends dirtiest secrets and expected them to all be cool with that because "he's an artist" which is a really shitty thing to do no matter what.

And he did it for money.  What a piece of shit.

I hope that we get a few more scenes of Demi Moore as Ann Woodward, she made a huge impression in her brief scene.

I hope so too.  There's a good TV-movie/mini-series called The Two Mrs. Grenvilles from the 80s, it's a fictionalized account of Ann Woodward's story, based on the novel by Dominic Dunne.

  17. This show is a great companion piece to the Phillip Seymour Hoffman film Capote, where Capote essentially sold his soul to get his In Cold Blood written.  At the point where F:CvTS begins Capote is already swirling the drain, in a death spiral.
