I was creeped out when MJ essentially said her husband was going to be really displeased if she didn't come home with any money, like there might be some dire consequences for her if she didn't win.

    I thought she was joking.

I've learned many valuable lessons from B&B, especially this week. DNA takes precedence over silly little things like putting a bullet in your chest and then deliberately shooting your wife. Losing your shit and throwing away your marriage over an egg donor who ignored you until you married into the family she’s obsessed with is totally a thing that makes sense. Lessons like that. Very enlightening.

    B&B is like The Walton's!

I generally only watch the show when something big happens like Sheila getting knifed.  I just watched this week's 5 episodes in 90 minutes.  I have a strong rule to FF thru commercials, the opening, and any scene with Ridge or Liam.

I did love the opening shot of Steffi and Finn's house on the Monday episode.  After that it all went downhill.  Is it weird there wasn't a fight or a struggle between Steffi and Sheila?  Just Steffi lounging the knife in Sheila's heart?

Of course Sheila didn't die.  The dead woman is Sugar or some heretofore unknown Sheila doppelganger.  The question remains:  Where in the world is Sheila Sandiego? Er, I mean Carter, of course.

Amanda and Kyle aren’t ready for a house and kids? They are 40 and 32, what do they expect to happen to make them ready? Those two…I’m surprised they haven’t already announced a divorce.

I had no idea there was an 8 year age difference between the two.

This tension in their relationship seems so forced and inauthentic to me.  It's like they have a conversation pre-summer like "What's going to be our storyline this summer?", just so they can count on the Bravo check and the marketing for Loverboy.

  4. In the iterations of the show that I've seen (UK Series 1, US series 1) there's always at least 3 people in the final. If there's a traitor in that mix, the traitor gets the whole pot, if there isn't a traitor in the mix the pot is shared by the winners.

After targeting Peppermint in the first episodes I would love to see Trishelle lose big time.  It just wouldn't be fair for Kate to win because she wasn't in the first several episoes.  Sandra and Sheree have been essentially non-entities thus far.  I would hope CT and MJ win and share the pot.

That was funny, too... however, the giggle I had was from Ken reading a clue and chuckling at the very end (as if he just couldn't contain his laughter any longer) and I can't remember the circumstances (the clue)

Could it have been the clue who's question was "What is Some Like It Hot?"?  I certainly got a kick out of it when Kevin answered it.

Really not a fan of Ryan Murphy. It takes some kind of perverse skill to turn inherently interesting source material into something so vapid and so far from actual narrative honesty.

Murphy didn't really have all that much to do with production.  His only title is executive producer, which I imagine is mainly symbolic.  The showrunner, and writer Jon Robin Baitz, is listed as the "developed for television by" and has written the first five episodes.

I often am bothered by Sunny, and her need to always be the smartest one in the room, but today, I was proud of her, and Whoopie for standing up against Dr. Phil.

I was happy Whoopi and Sunny stepped up too.  I love how that asshole says he's going to be dealing in facts, when in fact, he's just  "reporting" ridiculous speculations by a border guard.  Gosh, he's disgusting.

The US versions were filmed before the UK versions: US1, UK1, US2, UK2, so the UK is copying everything from the US but airing it first. Kind of like Cilla Black and Dionne Warwick.

Not true.  Traitors UK premiered on November 29, 2022.  Traitors US premiered on Jan 12, 2023.

And just for the record both Traitors are based on the Dutch show De Verraders.

They take two weeks to film an entire season?

Probably less than two weeks.  There's a daily murder, breakfast, challenge and banishment.

Why was there a recruitment of Kate and a murder?  I thought one could recruit or murder and not both.

They're making up rules as they go on.  No one could have predicted Peter would be dumb enough to refuse an offer to become a traitor.  The dipshit producers didn't have a plan B, so the viewers were left with an episode where no one left. The next recruitment was now either say yes or leave the show.  The producers have some catching up to do.

Sunny said 50% of people in this country believes embryos are babies.

Someone on the panel should've asked her where she got that ridiculous number.  I don't see anyone pushing embryos around in a stroller.

Its like the someone in the writers room pointed out that this whole feud seems extremally one sided, Truman betrays his friends because of his own creative slump, so they had to show us the Swans being petty racist mean girls so that Truman can be at least slightly justified in what he did.

I can't help but use Bennett Miller's 2005 Capote, with PSH, as the prequel to this show.  In Capote, TC essentially sold his soul to the devil to get the story from the killers of In Cold Blood, and killed his relationship with childhood friend Harper Lee.  After that TC was in much more than a creative slump, he was in an alcoholic, pill-ridden miasma of self-hatred that he couldn't quite escape.  While he's using the Swans for fancy vacations, expensive lunches and dinners, and extravagant gifts, he is seething with jealousy and resentment at these women who, seemingly, have had everything handed to them.  When he justifies his atrocious behavior, his selling out of his friends for money by focusing on their foibles and faults, he may be justifying his behavior to himself, but I'm not buying it.  It is fascinating to watch a once talented writer with such promise fall prey to ego, addiction, bitterness and ruthlessness.

Is it wrong that I think that The Catcher in the Rye, Love Story and Jonathan Livingston Seagull are waaay too overrated?

I don't know any person, place or thing that holds Love Story or Jonathan Livingston Seagull in high regard, so they can't be overrated.

The Catcher in The Rye is definitely overrated.  I feel bad for any student that has to read this stuff.

One think I clocked this episode was the number of times someone used the word "nowt." I've been watching this show since episode 1 and don't remember hearing the word before but it was all over this episode. "Nowt?"

I remember nowt from Wuthering Heights and the Dalziel/Pascoe novels by Reginald Hill.  Nowt = nothing, owt = something.

  15. I really hope there's another season.  I loved the visual of Spade and Teresa putting on their shades, and the visual of the monk getting shot by various shooters, just like Gabrielle's first husband.

  16. You are not alone.  I'm not surprised if viewership is down after last week's worst show ever. Good news is this week's show is much better, but the damage may already be done.  I'm looking forward to a Phaedra/Kate alliance.

I first noticed him [Tom Hollander] as the mousy little husband in Gosford Park who finally at the end gets up the courage to .... well, watch the movie. He also has a wonderful scene with Sophie Thompson (my favorite Thompson sister). I just love that movie.

It was just on TCM the other night, so good.

Felt very sorry for Truman's long-suffering former partner Jack Dunphy - I just love the actor who plays him - he often shows up in Ryan Murphy productions.

Joe Mantello.  I saw him on Broadway in 2010 in The Normal Heart where he gave a Tony-nominated volcanic performance.  He was amazing.

He was also show runner Jon Robin Baitz's partner from 1990 to 2002.  Mantello mainly directed, Baitz was (and is) a playwright, they were considered a Broadway super couple.

She must be getting paid well, that coat, while not too outrageous, is still expensive for someone who was struggling to pay bills not that long ago.

Maybe she's struggling to pay bills because she buys expensive coats!
