Not to be picky, but Albert was actually addicted to MorPHINE. As a child, I had no idea what had happened to Sylvia; I was a sheltered child and my parents just told me I'd understand when I was older. I did know she was pregnant, but that was only because Sylvia was "with child", and I knew that phrase from the Christmas story in the Bible. My traumatic episode: "Gambini the Great". No other words necessary.

I would assume that the family smelled the syrup and bacon on Pa when he came home. But Pa worked hard, so a proper lady wouldn't begrudge him the extra food. *Gag*

I'd say the only living Wilder relatives would be descendents of Almanzo's siblings; Alice, Royal and EJ all had children of their own. "Not for nothing had Pa always said she was as strong as a little French horse". I love that.

Technically, in real life, the family didn't pay for Mary's College education, the state did. Although, it seems like it was kind of a waste of Laura's money to send Mary to College and then have her sit in a chair for the rest of her life.
