  1. So very much this! I am pretty stone-hearted with tv shows, but Joe's face at the dinner table brought real tears to my eyes. The whole episode was emotional, but it was that quiet devastation that finally got me.
  2. iwasish, I agree with you, but I'll take it one step further. With all of Zoila's threats to quit, this was the first time (at least that we have seen), that Jeff just let her leave, and didn't leap up to tell her not to go. She knew that meant that her time was up, and she was maybe a little relieved. I think she stirred up shit because she was bored and feeling replaced. I shed NO tears at her leaving. Buh Bye.
  3. Admittedly, I am an old fogy, but the septum piercing just looks like snot to me.
  4. South Africa to Rotterdam - Wow. Was that woman one of the most unpleasant house hunters ever? She was so dismissive of her husband, and mentioned at every turn that she was the one bringing home the bacon. I don't disagree with their selection, but did she have to be such an asshole?
  5. I feel (and I think the judges did as well) that Katsuji was the team leader by virtue of pulling the knife. Since the EC is the leader of the kitchen, Katsuji abdicated his leadership to John. So he could just cook.
  6. So glad the judges sent K home. I thought his last lines to the camera said it all. Something like "I'm making history. This is the first time a cook has gone home in Restaurant Wars". He totally gave John the EC job because that was the riskier job. It is always the EC or the FOH that goes home, so he wanted to just cook and be safe. And make sure Tesar went home if things went bad. Also, his ndless slow clap enraged even me, sitting on my comfy couch at home. And I have no love for Tesar.
  7. Could they have dragged poor Francis' imminent death out any longer? Or telegraphed it more completely? I love this show, but this particular story line was agonizing to watch. Not in a good way.
  8. Was it just me, or does anyone else thing Drew really loved playing the Showgirl?
  9. Yes, I was very surprised and impressed with the Chiang Mai HH that she chose the Thai house. I think she may spend a lot of time with her friend next door in the air-conditioned classroom :) Really interested in this because I plan on visiting the Elephant Nature Park in November this year! Really excited to see so much of it on the show.
  10. I wondered if the letter was from Charlie to Oppenheimer, letting him know the plan. It could have been his third demand. But then I remembered that his third demand was for Helen to be his Number Two. So, basically, I don't actually know who it was from either. But I'm still thinking Charlie.
  11. AND it looks like he has had time to grow his own moustache.
  12. Anyone watching House Hunters Off the Grid? Pretty interesting stuff. Had to smile at the woman moving to the Costa Rica rainforest who doesn't like bugs in her house... ETA -- Sorry about this, I originally posted in the regular HH thread, like an idjit.
  13. Yes, Joystickenvy, your second sentence is exactly what I meant. The judges have a history with the designers, and already have formed an opinion about who is best (same as who is their pet--I'm looking at you Anya). Such is life, but they need a few other objective judges, someone whose voices will be heard (like Heidi & NPH) to even things out for the designers that the judges have already decided could never win.
  14. FineWashables, I assume that Sam is the one the judges wanted to win. Fresh! Young! (Boring!) Actually, I liked Sam's collection, but it really wasn't for the runway, it was for the stores. That was his POV and I admire him for sticking to it, but I didn't think he should win for simply standing strong. This finale satisfied partially because we had two GOOD judges who had absolutely no history with the designers. All the regular judges come in with their mind made up, whether they know it or not. Oscar makes "old" clothes and has had taste issues, so he wasn't going to win. Unfortunately for them (luckily for us), strong willed guest judges judged purely on the design and execution, not on the back story or other emotional reaction. They should do this with regular PR. Bring in some truly tasteful and opinionated judges who will look at the final collections objectively. It would improve the show for us, but may be an ego buster for the regular judges, so it will never happen.
