  1. Yes, that was a powerful moment when Jon said that when he looks past the shtick, he sees Biden as someone "who knows what loss is," and "knows grief," and Stephen both times said "That's it," and how deep grief "humbles you." I like that they're such good friends that they'll talk about this on the show. It was fun seeing Jon's kids' names on the blackboard behind him. I noticed in this episode and the Bolton one that it was very jarring to see Stephen's "we have to go to a break" segments, which were obviously done later (he didn't interrupt the interviews to actually go to a break). Especially because they were so jaunty in the Jon episode, compared to the discussions that they were breaking up.
  2. I should have been more clear. I call it time wasted because we can hear only Stephen's half of a conversation. It's not part of the show, it's just him and family member talking. Unlike the hand contact, which I consider part of the show, since it's entirely visible and audible to the audience at home.
  3. To me, the beginning notes of Seth's theme song sound like "Deutschland Uber Alles" (why do I even know that song???) and that's all that's in my head for like an hour after the show
  4. Tonight I was finally annoyed enough to come see if anyone felt the same way. It's less irritating to me when I hear a whole conversation, but I don't like the time wasted at the beginning of the show when we hear only Stephen's side of things. Maybe he feels like because his family is helping, he should direct some remarks to them. I find it aggravating.
  5. I watched a bunch of "The Listener" episodes over the last few weeks, and tonight they showed the series finale but they edited out something big! They had a shot of Dev leaving his super computer out and Tia looking at it, but they cut out where she used it and they also cut out I thought that there was something odd about Tia looking speculatively at Dev's laptop. I found the whole episode on YouTube. I have no idea why Ion would cut that out in syndication.
  6. This time around, Billie reminded me of Dakota Johnson, but that might be because I saw Dakota the other night on Jimmy Kimmel's show. I laughed all through the apple picking sketch, again.
  7. What is going on with Seth's eyebrows? I don't watch his show regularly, so I don't know if someone in the studio fixes them and that person can't get at them now, or what. They look like a half an eyebrow each. I can hardly focus on anything else (other than how many books are on the table next to him).
  8. Don't let Jake and Amy and Bruce Willis see this, even in jest.
  9. Holy moley that baby was big. I guess parents, even stage parents, don't want to hand over actual newborns for a tv show. For no good reason, I was hoping for a Lin-Manuel Miranda guest shot. I did like Scully and Hitchcock coming up with the birthing room.
  10. I think that Georgie meant to replace the money without telling anyone, and that's why he didn't report it. If baby Dale hadn't come home early, he never would have known.
  11. She started out with that high voice, too. It took her a while to get low.
  12. Boy, Dale looked absolutely evil at the end. Poor Georgie. He was doing a great job. That actor is so good. Not enough Missy, but I guess that Sheldon has to be the main character *sometimes*.
  13. I just saw my tivo'd episode with Jennifer Aniston and I really loved it. One thing that this shelter-in-place thing has done is to let us see people/celebrities when they don't have to promote anything. Just being themselves. If I'd thought of it, I would have known that of COURSE Jennifer Aniston has friends that she has jokes with, and she sometimes orders the wrong thing on Amazon, and she'd be gracious and appreciative to a nurse fighting on the front lines of COVID-19. But this is the first time I actually got to SEE it.
  14. I didn't like it, and I thought the "caper" music was inappropriate. This wasn't a caper; it wasn't smart or funny. Josh the front guard did surprise me, so there's that I guess. eta: that wasn't directed at you, preeya: I wrote my post before I saw yours, sorry.
  15. I was wondering if maybe a few things got cut for the tribute for Hal Willner. It seems like they should have some material all ready to go if they do another of these.
  16. Kate' cat Nino has a twitter account (maybe also IG but I'm not on that) https://twitter.com/NinoMcKinnon?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^author I wonder if they got the idea from a Scottish sportscaster who's done sports commentary on his two dogs; first one and second one I agree with whoever said that the popcorn kernels were oddly compelling. And I guessed right!
  17. Or Bowen either, right? At least not in any kind of sketch. eta: Ah, thank you, Dev F! I've never even noticed that before!
  18. I liked it and appreciated it. I laughed at Heidi/Bailey saying that Emma stole from Clueless. I was baffled at her promo for Louis CK though. Pete Davidson might have found his niche as a home performer. Go, Pete's Mom! And that tribute to Hal Willner was really moving.
  19. And Oregon's out-of-state tuition is 2.5 times that of a University of California school, 5 times that of a California State University school. I could sooner think that he'd get admitted than that he could afford it without asking his parents to pay for it.
  20. I can't believe that Heidi was criticizing anything when she wore such horrible horrible clothes for this two-parter. I mean like really ugly. The love for the Beetlejuice dress baffled for me. None of those stripes lined up with each other. Is that not a thing? (I am not a designer or a designer clothes wearer, so this is a serious question.) I figured that at least one of the "out drinking wine in the courtyard" people would go. I think it's a tough choice between doing something easy that you've done before, and trying to stretch in the 7 hours. That decision was harder for the designers who had been criticized, I think. Tim Gunn needs to get back his money for the fencing lessons. Four years?
  21. I think these shows are working for Stephen partly because he started with people who would roll with it, and partly for the longer conversations. I love Stephen and I always watch his show, but I think he's a terrible interviewer. He doesn't let conversations flow naturally; he's always making awkward segues back to what's on his cards. He's not doing that this week, so that's great (with John Oliver, it helped that they're good friends and that John Oliver is John Oliver).
  22. Yup, I agree with everyone: Missy and Meemaw for the win. Especially the little moment about the documentation (and of course the end). Coach was nice, too. Boy, Raegan and Iain are getting so tall.
