  1. I enjoyed Season 1 and the rough edges of a new show. Those owners (IIRC) were all from the New England area and understood what the style was. As soon as I saw this couple was from California I knew that gorgeous house would end up Chip-n-Jo’d to the max. I’m a Jon girl from the NKOTB days so he can do little wrong in my eyes. But that chicken coop was a monstrosity.
  2. I don't think so. When we saw her reaction to the pew bench seating my husband and I said, "she does NOT like that" at the same time.
  3. That brick backsplash....ooo. I think that's the first HGTV thing I'm seriously thinking of trying out in my own home. I'm so sad I only have one episode left this season.
  4. I love blogs, so I started reading hers from post 1 (it's taken me a LONG while to get to the point where they film the first season) and the way this all happened for them seems so organic and genuine. For example, one day she decided to do a watercolor of her childhood home and then started painting others' homes as a hobby. Something will cost too much money, so they'll make it themselves. I love it and I think it's really gotten me into the show even more. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a season 3.
  5. I often wonder how many houses Chip & Joanna "Fixed" before HGTV came calling? I caved and bought their book The Magnolia Story. Chip has been fixing up houses to flip/rent out since college, and Joanna joined in after they got married. If you are fans, I recommend the book. It's cute (they each tell the story in separate fonts) and you'll find out that Chip was/is actually the brains behind it all. The story that opens and closes the book is about Chip buying a houseboat for them all to live on while renovating their current house without telling Jo in advance. They never fixed up the houseboat enough to get in the water, and I strongly suspect that's the houseboat that was featured a few episodes ago. They keep stumbling into genius moves.
  6. Brian Arnold had his girlfriend watching him. I'm 90% sure that a few seasons ago when he made the big announcement that he quit his job to train full time that he had a wife and kids. Does anyone else remember this? I am also over Kacy. She didn't even make it to city finals. Much respect for being the first, but the course now is tweaked more to favor parkour runners and rock climbers and less toward gymnasts/runners. She, like a lot of the old guard guys, can't keep up with the newer athletes.
  7. Maybe there was some sort of NDA in place, since the stories were published months before the episode aired. But yeah, dude Bell...you did this all yourself. Yup. Even though my mind is boggled over tiny houses (they couldn't even show their guests in the house at the end of the episode because it was too small!) I liked what they did except for that pulley. I wonder why they couldn't have a more efficient pulley? And the kids are adorable. I'd rather them look like they'd been playing outside and having fun than all primped and polished for the camera.
  8. This couple irritated me for reasons I can't put my finger on. Maybe it was wanting a 4 bedroom home for a family with one 18-yo kid who's probably going to Baylor? Maybe it's another middle-aged dude who just can't be without a dedicated music room? Or the desire to have a beachy-looking home in Waco? Oh, wait, it was the pretending not to know where your grandmother's house was - the one she lived in until she died. And that it was for sale. Or that it was likely just given to you or sold to you cheaply. Those shenanigans piss me off for the entire show. ** "Do you think grandmom is looking down on this and happy?" "Nah. You painted her bricks blue."
  9. I always gasp in horror when people paint, "smear," or otherwise eff with brick. But I liked how it turned out - it was a little out of Joanna's design sphere and I always like seeing some color. I'd have rather had Clint than Max Lucado, to be honest. Then again, I unapologetically ship Jo and Clint.
  10. I think the vaulted ceiling suggestion was going to be the money-grab call and the call went poorly, so it didn't make the cut. I don't think the couple was mean on the phone, but there was probably no good way to script a "nope, too much money" call and not make anyone look bad. Because Chip and Jo went from "let's vault these ceilings!" right to Jo's "since money is a factor we didn't go with vaulted ceilings" talking head. I discovered this show a few months ago (bought a house of our own this summer and now all I do for fun now is watch HGTV because we have to rebuild our savings!) and am really enjoying season 3 more than season 2.
  11. The triplets thing ... I can't even form a coherent response yet. Donna's storyline was lovely, but I didn't think she was unhappy not having a love interest and being tied down. The way the writers are trying to force conventionally happy endings on the characters reminds me of how the comic strip "For Better or for Worse" went during its last two years.
  12. Reston was the Democrat in the race, and he was basically eliminated from public favor after the video of him visiting/berating his wife in prison leaked. "So, you know, I'm totally satisfied with this as the ending of the show for me." Exactly. I'm thinking of not coming back next season. I like the idea of Olivia and Jake standing in the sun together too much to watch the show destroy it. I just hope she buys a new phone.
  13. Ack! Sorry! I thought with a name like that and the role it played in the plot, it had to be made up.
  14. I just about peed myself laughing with Other Ron's spirit animal (a white hawk?) landed on his arm. I love the Rons. Leslie's pregnancy? Eh. It's weird to me that Leslie would be surprised by a pregnancy, since you'd think she'd have a three ring binder dedicated strictly to her fertility and would be contracepting like a boss if she didn't plan on having a child yet. (Which I don't think she did, considering her surprise and Ben's epiphany to start a family.) But I guess she's the magical unicorn .3% who bust right through birth control with perfect use.
  15. I think Dominic's hair went toward the DNA test that OPA "fixed" so that Team Sally wouldn't find anything out about young Jerry. All they needed was *someone's* hair to run it, and then the money made sure the outcome was the desired one. Which, for that one, was that Fitz WAS the father and that threw Sally off of the trail. I can't think Cyrus is just going to let the memorial service get blown up. Even though it would take Sally, Leo and Andrew (sigh) out of the picture, it would probably also destroy most of the sitting Congress, who would be there to honor their colleague. One of those three *has* to make it through. Poor Fitz can't win an election on his own. How long does it take for Air Force One to get from fictional Defiance, OH back to DC in time for Olivia to return to her office and see her Dad still alive? From a gunshot that likely happened while Olivia was still in Ohio? Team Mellie for life. Bellamy Young is amazing at letting the emotions run across her face.
