  1. Black women have to work 3times harder to get a third of the respect, especially from Black gay men. Soda was making sure that Venus and Hunter felt like part of the Tribe once the merge came, not crack it apart when strong Tribes last longer past the merge, Tevon. "She's playing too hard." is such a stupid thing to say. He's not as irritating as some but his wanting to be Sole Leader of his Tribe is off-putting.
  2. Don’t be silly. Mrs. Hondo doesn’t make mistakes (unless she’s disagreeing with Mr. Always-Right).
  3. One laugh? That was more than me. I’ve thought Hart was mean-spirited since he told a”joke” about buying his kids’ love then sending back to their much poorer mom. Here he wasted time and a spot for a “prank” that he didn’t even wait to see if it landed. Not cool and not funny. I think that Starfish is because they sure are bouncy!
  4. I never watched The Good Wife or The Good Fight so all I knew about the show was from the ads, which were all about how "quirky" she is. To paraphrase Lou Grant, "You're quirky. I hate quirky." I got that it was a modern day Columbo early on, but Elsbeth doesn't gave Columbo's charm. So I'm iffy -- I'll have to see if it's too quirky for me. What was with the business of the killer switching the pills in the dressing room and back in the apartment?
  5. I agree that was bad, but if she was like that even most of the time, I don't think that she would have been made so welcome or have been so supported by the other women at the beach party. There's a difference between making an offensive comment once and being overly defensive about it, and being a "mean girl" which seems chauvenustic to me.
  6. Tim said "I believe in female empowerment -- my mom, granny and wife are female and 'some of my best friends are female' but we have to ice some bitches." Maybe not those exact words but close enough! @peachmangosteen, I applaud your optimism! Unfortunately, you're probably right! The two guys seem to have found all the numbers pretty quickly, and it's a pretty common thing in word search puzzles for the unused letters to spell a phrase. If the had thought of that, I think they had enough time let to solve the puzzle. There's an allergy called FODMAP (fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides and polyols) which severely limit what you can eat (think of it as Celiac diease to the 10th power). It causes an extremely severe reaction, too. Definite not something you want to go on Survivor with!
  7. I don’t get that at all. She avoided Sarah Ann and has been very supportive of the other women. She doesn’t suffer fools AT ALL, which makes her awesome, not mean, in my book. Brittany (who was with dolphin-fetishist Kenneth) or Jessica?
  8. LOL Marisa Clark on Irrational has the same house as Gabrielle "Gabi" Mosely on Found. When Jace was by the door to the basement, I wondered where all locks went! ========================== I will be so glad when any writer even suggests a “Cartwright Curse” or “fridging” a woman, he is taken out back and soundly whipped.
  9. They have fridged several women, notably Erika Rogers. Lyndie Greenwood was on the show for a handful of episodes as a semi-main charactor before the shot and killed Erika. This show has always done wrong by its female cast (remember when Nichelle actually had a personality?) I wouldn't be at all surprised if Powell is really dead -- would Gabriel be dumb enough not to make sure? That "fight" was so stupid -- I'm sure that SWAT members are taught how to break chokeholds!
  10. Ghosts (US, which is funnier and less mean than the UK version [also true of The Office]) and Bob ♥ Abishola are excellent comedies and are starting in February, The Futon Critic has a line-up of all shows as well as a short description. Not Dead Yet isn't knock-down comedy but it is fun. It's about a woman who's visited by the ghosts of people she's writing an obituary for. Abbot Elementary follows a ragtag group of teachers as they educate their students.
  11. Drew was still picked out of hundreds (or more) "nerdy guys". And if he watched Survivor, he'd know that the "nerdy guy" is going to be picked last. It's on him to realize that it's no one's obligation to pick him just because of his history.
  12. As for Drew's "I've always been picked last", Survivor is a horrid place to try to rectify that. I thought that had seen previous seasons!
  13. Sorry I'm late, but here's the final chart: Rob and Corey came in 3rd in 4 legs out of 12 with 3 2nds and 2 4th place finishes, 1 each of 1st, 5th and 6th. Greg and John had 5 1sts, 3 2nds, 2 3tds and 2 8ths. Joel and Garrett had 3 2nds, 3 3rds, 2 7ths, 2 9ths and 1 each of 1st and 4th
  14. Same! Dee & Austin would be the second consequetive successful showmance (if it continues after the game). From all accounts, Matt and Franny are still together.
  15. Late to the thread but: Adrian Greensmith did a great job, but Candy was "fridged" (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Women_in_Refrigerators just to give Spoon angst. There's no reason plot-wise why she couldn't have been rescued too -- unless she was "spoiled" because men touched her which is even more icky.
  16. Dolly has said in the past "It takes a lot of money to look this cheap"/ During the overnight, Gerry told Leslie "Til death do we part" and other things that I took as serious commitment -- before the overnight with Theresa! So, yeah, he was a lying liar who lies "in that moment". Yes, that Nightline. Once the hostage crises was over, it morphed into a "true crime" broadcast.
  17. I was hoping that Bee (the girl with yellow streaks in her hair) would win. Nope. Then I switched to Hailey (Bee's friend). Nope. Now I'm torn between Mai (for targeting Ashley in the dice game -- but she did a crap job explaining why she did) or Phil, who seems like a nice guy. Sam is too little too late -- but I have a friend who can't visit her parents, because being trans in South Carolina is a death sentence and her parents refuse to see her as who she is, so some sympathy there.
  18. Nothing to say that hasn't been said, so here's the chart for this week There's been a LOT more scrambling thi season than in a lot of others
  19. Dee has done what you're supposed to on Survivor: find an alliance and keep it tight. She may be a little smug but she deserves to be. "A woman has to work twice as hard to get half as much appreciation." I think the fact that she is "conventionally attractive" works against her too. I said so too, and added that they almost certainly feel comfortable confronting him.
  20. In the past, we've had legs with little or no shake-u[, but, other than Greg and John, that hasn't been the case this season. That's a Good Thing.
  21. If you have to ask if you're being overbearing with your wife and daughter, odds are very high that you are. And no way you would tell someone that. Yeah, "amazing". I'm absolutely s8ure that Probst gad nothing to do with it. (I don't think that he was quite as stretched as the other two. How would they even measure that?
  22. Would Theresa give up the job she worked so hard to build? I know that she said that she would, but I think it would be a very hard decision. And being Gerry's money manager in nowhere near the same. My ick moment was when he made all the lifelong commitments to Leslie before his date with Theresa. Those were strong promises to make when he still had deciding to do.
  23. Interesting that after last week's chat about electric vs internal combustion cars, this week they seemed to be driving with a manual transmission -- I thought I heard Lena grind the gears for a bit. Phil told us at the start of the show that Slovenia had been0 independent for 32 years. So any viewer that got it wrong gets behind Lena and Garrett! Going down a slope is usually harder since you have to "brake" as you go, Several Runners said that the binoculars were a bit fuzzy *they didn't have the crystal clear view that we did) and If Lena was nauseous, that would have made it harder to tell 7 from 1 or to see the lines on the 9s, This week's chart:
  24. I'm not sure how they make it informative. Any kind of PSA, in the show or after, is going to seem kind of weird. But it's a moot point so i won't say more. At least one local knew what they wanted without looking it up. One racer asked for a cologne that had a 4 digit name and got the answer immediately.
  25. Start times went from 6:42 for Greg and John to 9:18 for Robbin $ Chelea Another mix-up for end times: I thought that was weird too. Maybe now that "Munchhausen by proxy" is a known psychological condition, it might be confusing to use his name.
