  1. I really like this idea, it would have been a great way of incorporating her profession and workplace into storylines but would bypass the constant "family emergency" issue of the sister's having 9-5 style jobs. When I re-watch season 1 I always feel nostalgic for Quake. I really enjoyed the more relaxed vibe of the restaurant/bar and it seemed like a realistic place for twenty somethings to hang out in. Quake was a lot more versatile - the sisters could go to for food, drinks, coffee etc. I also feel like Quake could lend itself to all sorts of different events - book launches, tarot card evenings, speed dating etc in a way that P3 never could. Add me to the list of people that could never really buy Piper's move into the nightclub business. I would have bought it more if they showed her having any sort of passion towards the club but she always seemed to moan about it or show a complete lack of interest. I always thought Phoebe and Paige were creative types so perhaps they missed a trick by not having the sisters take on a more active role in the business. I thought it was strange that Phoebe didn't do nightclub promotion/bar tending when she was in college in season 2 especially as that's what I thought she did a bit of in NYC? P3 became so irrelevant and it's a shame that Piper's storylines about work dried up, it would have been nice to see her realise her dream of becoming a chef in the later seasons. I've enjoyed reading the discussion surrounding Phoebe and Paige and the similarities between the two characters. I always wonder how the writers would have tackled this if the show was being made today. I reckon Paige's artistic streak would have been pushed a lot more and she would be a sort of San Francisco hipster type (not in a bad way). Like others have said, an only child is perhaps more similar to an older sibling and by making Paige have a slight pretentious streak (in terms of tastes, where she hangs out etc) I think she would have felt a little more like Prue.
  2. Taking my lead from desertflower, here's a thread to discuss the college years of Beverly Hills 90210. From Avocado Heads to Zuckerman's deflowering, this is the place to talk about all the soapy goodness that came post high school.
  3. I've just finished watching seasons 1-3 of the awful, awful reboot (don't ask me why) and it really made me appreciate how great the high school years were on the original 90210. They did a great job of bringing all of the characters together and making them into a believable group of friends, something that they failed at miserably on the reboot. I think that's why the famous Brenda/Dylan/Kelly storyline worked so well, it was because we were so invested in each of the characters and their relationships with one another, you got the sense that things would never be the same again - which they weren't. I think that's why looking back I'm really glad Brenda was alienated from the group, yes it was a shitty way for them to treat her but sadly it was very realistic because in these situations people don't go back to being best friends afterwards and someone is usually ousted from the group. All of those final senior year moments were made all the more bittersweet by how things had changed from the year before. When it came to things like Prom and Graduation in the reboot I didn't care because I had no emotional investment in the characters but in the original they packed one hell of a punch. I don't think any other show has managed to do their high school years as well as Beverly Hills 90210 - a complete joy to watch!
  4. Hello everyone, I've come over here from TWOP as a longtime lurker whose looking to start participating in some of the 90210 discussion and snark. I only started watching the show in 2008 but I absolutely love it, there's nothing quite like it. I'm ashamed to admit that my new found obsession with BH90210 has resulted in my sister buying me a Brandon Walsh heart shaped cushion off etsy which I now sleep with... I'm 25 years old :/
  5. Loved most of the fashions in season 4 but then I'm a sucker for floral prints and maxi dresses. Brenda looked gorgeous in seasons 3 and 4, loved the flippy skirts, striped bodies and leather waistcoats. The college years post season 4 featured some pretty dreadful fashions usually worn by Donna and Claire. The two of them seemed to be competing for who could wear the most hideous fabrics in one outfit. Anyone remember the horror of Claire's bin bag dress at that concert? I think she was wearing a pink feather boa with it as well! Or when Claire wore those black PVC trousers with some sort of Chinese embroidery style top. 90210 is the perfect time capsule for all of those hideous 90's trends - black strappy platform sandal anyone?
