I had to chuckle at that, too, but I did think Pedro was very, very sweet to his goofy-ass wife.  There are many men who would not have been (or even had the ability to be!) as comforting as he was.  That last shot of him carrying her up the stairs was surprisingly genuine and heartfelt for a TLC show.  Someone on production must have just watched a Nicholas Sparks movie or something.

I'll say it again: This family would function completely differently without that she-beast of a mother.

I thought the same thing. I forced myself to watch this show and almost gave up a few times, but that scene got to me in a good way. It felt truthful and genuine, and I loved how sweet and comforting Pedro was to Chantel.

If we're to believe this show, Pedro and Chantel both have toxic families. I  think there's a lot of truth mixed with a lot of acting, but I DO believe the Coraima/Chantel stuff was mostly real. I would never try to get my brother to hook-up with a friend just because he was having marital issues. I am far from perfect and far from a prude, but I love my family, and that includes my in-laws, even when we're all human and imperfect. Never would I show that kind of disrespect.

  3. Lamar was funny in Utah (Children of the Corn 😂 ), but for the life of me, I cannot fathom what Andrea sees in him. I get that it might be the bad boy thing, but even good women with bad men usually have shared interests. What common interests do they share? I'm sure he makes her laugh (and that's great), but humor alone can't sustain a marriage, especially when it's two people who seem to be from different planets!

He still wants to dabble in that life and she's 100% not about any of it. I just don't see how it's going to work out. Her kids are so wonderful. I hope they don't get their hearts broken. I'd love to be pleasantly surprised by these two.

If I had to bet on Tito or Marcellino winning that  fight, I'd probably have bet on the wrong person. It was pretty mild overall, but I was surprised when Marcellino pinned Tito down. That said...

Did anyone else notice how much weight Tito lost since we last saw him? He looked kind of sickly. I hope he hasn't relapsed and that's it's just weight loss.

I wonder if Sarah will go through with the divorce. I'll be shocked if she does.

  4. Initially, I thought Dale was going to be one of the angry, combative, butthole hoarders, but he was a pretty quiet, low-key, gentle guy and his family seemed to love him.

I liked him and even found myself tearing up when he did. He may be making slow progress, but getting into counseling and refraining from dragging home more stuff are both important steps. I hope he succeeds! I think having a community will be a good thing for him, as long as they don't overwhelm him.

    I'd love to see a follow-up.

April Briney They spent the three days after I left going through my personal papers, reading my journals looking for any dirt they could find and "packing" up all my stuff. I'm sure it was all very well intentioned.

I saw that, too, and I have no doubt it's true. I can see them doing that!  On second thought, it lends a bit more toward April being desperate (since she left her journals).

Hopefully, she can heal herself and the kids. Although I'm over all these families,  I'm rooting for April.

I still believe Auralee about those particular clothes, not that it matters to me. I just think they are all full of it.

  6. I believe Auralee, but ...

    I am glad April left.

I think ALL of  them have "issues".

April's decision to leave, IMO, doesn't absolve her of her own complicity in that shitshow. Hopefully her children have a chance to live a more normal life.

I do applaud April for getting out, but (barring any abuse) I hope the kids aren't alienated from their father. (I think polygamy in itself is abusive, but I guess that's subjective.)

Even if her decision to get out was just an f-you to Drew and the other wives (which I tend to believe), it's all good. Maybe she is the sane one, but again, I think they're all assholes -- April included.

  7. Regarding Luke and Kate:

Not to beat a dead horse about her smoking, but I'm pretty sure that during the on-camera interview he mentioned smoking when asked what could be a deal breaker. I definitely remember one of the guys saying it.  I'm pretty sure it was Luke, but I could be misremembering.

Either way, there's no reason to use a phrase like "dead inside" and "repulsed". That's what makes him a jerk, IMO.  He doesn't have to be into her -- that's totally fine. I can think of many nicer, less assholish ways to tell someone "I'm not feeling it with you".

  8. Marcelino is the kind of guy who initially makes an impression as a chill dude, but...

If one pays close attention, his "buttons"  bulge against the need for control and his barely-contained rage.

He seems to be the kind of guy who would cut your throat when you break up with him.

I could see in Brittany eyes that she most likely sees his true colors, but she had no resources to escape him during that dinner.

I truly hope she gets away ASAP. Alarm bells are blaring and screaming-- I truly feel she could be in real danger.

Interesting theory about methadone. Don't they usually have patients come in for their dose super early, like 7 AM or earlier?

I hope Sean sticks to treatment. Jade is about to crack from all the pressure. I can't think of another time when I've thought, "Thank goodness she has some MTV money coming in." But that's definitely where I am with Jade. She's taking care of too many people on what has to be crummy restaurant pay.

(I may have misunderstood about the meetings, so the methadone idea may be totally off base, but--) Yes, methadone clinics typically dose early (say 5am to 9am). On weekends and holidays they may only stay open for an hour or so (but they try to give as many clients as possible a take home dose). (I'm familiar with how the 2 in my area work, but I can't speak for all the them.)

Sometimes this show makes me sad. There's just so much dysfunction and helplessness. When Kyler the Lump is goals, well that's a bit frightening, lol.

I can't help but root for these people, though.  The babies deserve a chance so that they don't perpetuate another cycle of this mess.

    Agreed about Jade's mom -- she's a damn vulture.

I'm certainly no fan, but he does physically take care of the kid.  True, it doesn't seem like he has anything else to do, but that's not necessarily an impediment for a lot of the teen dads.  That's the one, and only, redeeming quality I can find in that schlub.

I'm pretty ignorant about social media, but I was impressed when he said he'd blocked her because he was choosing not to know what's going on with her, and not very many people seem to have the willpower to do that.  But then he fucked it up and apparently found out what she was doing after all and worse, acted on it.  But I had a glimmer of hope for a second there that he was doing something mature.

And I'm equally ignorant about the world of fingernails, but it grates when Jade complains how broke she is, while brandishing those nails.  I'm sure "it's only a few dollars" and "she deserves a treat" and all that, but still.  But then I'm not too impressed with many of the financial decisions we've seen her make, starting with "lending" her mother money all the time.  Or Sean's "rehab," another area I'm (blessedly) ignorant about--paying $17 for a "meeting"?  When she said she was paying for rehab, I was picturing the ones that cost $10,000 a month.  So I'm glad it's not that, because she clearly doesn't have it, but I'm not confident the $17 for a meeting will be money well spent.

I wonder if Sean is going to the methadone clinic. Many of them have in-house counseling -- some of it's really good and some of it isn't. It depends on location as far as what's offered, the costs, if insurance covers it, etc.  $17 a day sounds about right for methadone. Most of the time methadone is a daily, in-house treatment, taken in front of a nurse. Once the patient proves they're responsible (clean drug screens are the main thing, but maybe working the program, etc), they can take home weekend doses, then work up to taking home maybe three days, then 1 week, then 2 weeks worth, even up to a month. Again, it really depends on the state (though I think there are some fed guidelines).

Methadone can be a godsend or it can be a shitty substitute. It really depends on so many factors.

The way they're describing things, it really sounds like that's what he's doing.  If he can get clean and get his shit together (and he and Jade can learn to communicate rather than argue), more power to them.

I so feel for Russ.  I think he is the one who had the most pure intentions going into all this.  He met a girl, in person, fell in love, and wants to make a life with her.  It depresses my hair too.  Pao is delusional.

I think Pao is the most selfish person I've ever seen.  When she's in Miami, she might as well be back in Colombia.  She hangs out with friends who all speak Spanish and lives a single life.  The only "work" we've seen her doing, besides that music video, has looked to me like posing for a pinup calendar.  Is she supporting herself?  Do she and Russ actually live together?  And what is he doing now?  Poor guy, poor stupid guy.  I'd love to see him ditch her and move back to Oklahoma, get a good job and have a wonderful life.  And he is the only one who didn't go looking for a (non-liberated) foreign bride, so he really deserves better.  But boy, Pao got one look at Miami, and Russ was toast.

I agree about Russ and Pao. I feel for Russ. He chose someone who is his equal, he's  low drama, responsible, seems genuine, isn't mean/spiteful, and truly seems like a good guy. Pao also once seemed genuine and was enjoyable to watch, but not now. She's always seemed somewhat self-absorbed, but she's changed so much, and not in a good way.

They were one of the couples I thought would be fine, but I have a feeling things are much worse than what we're seeing here. I hope that some of the drama is for TV. I don't like to see good people get hurt, and Russ seems like a good guy who deserves better.

  16. Fabio:  I appreciate his aesthetic and think he makes beautiful pieces. Some of it may not be to my taste, but I like looking at it, appreciate it on others,  and would wear some pieces.  I sure do love Fabio himself, though ... MMMPPHH.  I don't think I could tire of him. Besides being (and sounding) beautiful, he seems so genuinely kind.  That makes him even more beautiful to me. (More Fabio, please!)

I ended up really liking this season. I loved the finalists, loved their interactions, and appreciated the almost non-existent drama. I'll take more just like this. (I do wish Ken had a spot in the finale, too. I really felt for him!)

Any of them winning would have been fine with me. I liked all the collections, though some pieces from each stood out more than others. There was nothing life-changing here, but it was all beautiful, well-made, solid, lovely work. I don't envy the judges.

I hope PR and PRAS are not canceled. I really love all incarnations of PR. I'm not too proud to admit it. :)

  17. Everything you all said re: Ryan, I agree.  I couldn't like posts fast enough!

If Jackie decides to stay, I would caution her to pay close attention to his drinking. While I've seen "angry drinkers" to a level Ryan hasn't even come close to matching, he does seem to get combative when he drinks.

    But ...

I'd be done if I were Jackie. Ryan has way too many red flags. He may be ready some day, but I think he has a selfish nature, so who knows.

Ryan's "me and Jackie" was bad enough, but he topped it with "ek-specially".

  18. Just popping in to say:  I'm caught up on Season 2 and ready for more!

The acting in this is really good, the sets are gorgeous, and the actors are pretty nice to look at, too.

Some of the plot could easily come off as absurd, but there's a good balance that tones it all down. It isn't perfect, but not every show can be a "Breaking Bad". (Nor does it have to be for me to enjoy it).

I forgot to add that Stephan looks like Andre 3000.

Yes! It's the angular features and how he sets his mouth at times. It was bugging me because I couldn't place the resemblance,  but that's it!

I am not a violent person, but if Stephan got up in my face the way the previews show him doing to Kayla's mom...pffftttttttt. He'd never do it again, one way or another.  That's unacceptable, disgusting,  and I hope she called the police on him. At the very least, he should be removed.

(Shades of Lexi's boyfriend Shayden the Shithead from "Unexpected".)

He'd never step foot in my house again, that's for sure. That punk prick forgot whose house he was in. Nothing says - "I'm a grown man" -  like threatening your child's grandmother. If he'll do that to her mom, surely Kayla isn't off limits.

  20. I do think these brides put on a bit, but I also think they're very much being themselves. The people around them give it away --they either have the hostage-to-tantrums mentality or they can barely stifle laughter when the brides go over-the-top.

Remember Karen Refaeli, the queen of Bridezillas? She will always stick out as one of the worst, if not THE worst. I'd like to watch her episode with fresh eyes to see if I can spot any acting, but I recall her being genuinely entitled and nasty. I recall her then-fiance's (Lee?) words & look of disgust and horror at her nastiness. (I wonder if they're still married.)

Isaiah looked like he was genuinely over Carmen's shit.

  21. My heart hardened toward this show a long time ago, yet for some reason I kept watching.  This episode is why!

I have to admit that I genuinely teared up and felt a real connection between Savenia and Dylan. It really warmed my heart!

I'm happy for them and glad it worked out. They both seem like nice people, so good for them.

Shallow moment: Fwiw, I thought Savenia looked prettier in real life vs her photoshopped pics. I like her awkwardness and little quirks!

  22. A few thoughts (and one big cringe-worthy admission):

I don't really have one type when it comes to men. Though I've usually ended up with a certain type as far as long-term relationships, that's just how it worked out. I've dated, loved, and am attracted to many types (oddly, my 2 fave type are complete opposites). I just wanted to make those points before I say these things:

Ryan isn't my type; his incessant chatter would exhaust me, and I wouldn't go for him as far as what I am seeing on television. I don't think he's unattractive, it's just that he reminds me of a certain type of guy--one who usually works my nerves. Cringe admission: I thought he looked dorky as hell but also sort of sexy in his fireman gear, at least from the waist down. My eyes kept going to that little back-curve above his ass. No worries -- I hate myself for even typing all that, lol. It was all offset by the tighty-whities peeking out, so it was a short-lived moment anyway, lol. Please confiscate my remote and smash my DVR. Thanks.

     Jon and Molly:

While I've had my share of purely physical relationships, mostly I tend to work my way into physical intimacy and ultimately sex.  In all of my long-term relationships, I don't think I had sex with the guy before 3-ish months.  Cuddling? Yes!  Kissing? Yes! Making out? Yes!  Lots and lots of making out, getting so close to sex that I almost couldn't stand it? Yes, please!  To me, that was part of the fun, part of what made it so hot--the anticipation and the progression of going from nervous first date to the second date, to handholding, to kissing, to boyfriend, to various levels of making out, to sex.  I say all that to make the point that even with the accelerated relationship, I would be OK with not having had sex yet. Yes, things are accelerated, but there still shouldn't be expectations or a time limit on actual sex.

Based purely on the timeline, I don't find it abnormal that they haven't had sex.  At the same time, I'd definitely be cuddling, kissing, holding hands, making out, etc.  Molly is so distant and they have no intimacy, even when she's draped across him. I have more intimacy with my male friends, or hell, people I just met. I would expect some sort of something, like maybe cuddling during a movie. (You can't build intimacy by creating more distance.)

I do get what Molly was saying about finding a guy attractive but not being attracted to Jon. John is one of those guys I think is attractive, but to whom I wouldn't necessarily be attracted. There are plenty of men I can look at and know they are attractive, but still not be physically/sexually attracted to them. It just doesn't work that way.  I think one of the issues is that maybe Jon doesn't understand that, AND there are some mixed signals going on.

I really don't get why Molly put on that red wig. She knew it was Jon's "fantasy", so it was weird to me that she'd even go there.  Why put on the wig, sit in his lap, talk it up, and mentally grind on his dick? She's talking about fantasies and shit all while doing everything but locking herself in a chastity belt! She has NO obligation to sleep with him (and who'd want that kind of sex anyway?), but if you're not attracted, why go there? It's no wonder John lost his shit. He's confused. What he said was assholish and juvenile, and I don't excuse it; I do chalk it up to frustration and hurt feelings.

I am glad Molly admitted that she isn't attracted to him. That was the right thing to do, even if it hurt Jon. I hate for anyone to get their feelings hurt, but it's much better to know the truth. There is no easy way to tell someone you're not attracted to them, but one way you don't do it is by dressing up like "Red-headed fantasy girl Rebecca" and teasing something that isn't going to happen.

On another note, I thought John looked sexy as hell in one of his angry talking heads. He was in a green shirt and doing a talking head after the wig drama, then he says he needs to talk to Molly, and then they have the fight in bed. After that is another talking head, but in it he's wearing a red t-shirt. I thought he looked sexy as hell in the red shirt talking-head. It must have been the stubble and blue balls, lol.

I wonder why Molly thought this show would be a good fit for her. This type of commitment demands going outside of one's comfort zone and being intimate (not sex) with a stranger -- this show is based around all the relationshipy stuff that Molly wants to avoid. I really don't get it.

Jephte and Shawniece were adorable this week!  Their sexual chemistry has obviously taken off, and I hope the non-sexual intimacy can match/keep up with that.
