  1. What a privilege it is to ignore a crisis others are dying from. How anyone can watch this show, see the pain the ladies go through while explaining their experiences with racial inequality and say I dOn'T wAnT tO wAtCh PoLiTiCs is truly disturbing. Black women are supposed to entertain you but not have real conversations about racism that make white people uncomfortable. Got it.
  2. Showing Americans fighting for human rights isn't political. For some of us it's a matter of life and death. Sorry you don't find it entertaining 🙄.
  3. Because they were big, scary, black men? They literally did nothing but walk towards the car. These biases about black people are literally getting people killed.
  4. So tired of shows like this treating black people as props and the lives of black children as meaningless. Adam's life shouldn't be treated as being any more important than Kofi's, yet he is the one tortured and jailed because God forbid he face any consequences for his actions. You would think that in this day and age the folks at Showtime would have thought twice about airing a limited series that is about white privilege but doesn't address it in any meaningful way. The racial bias is almost laughable. In episode 1, the black men walked towards the car, an action so terrifying that Adam had a panic attack and lost his inhaler? Come on. It's 2020. We know better. Let's do better.
  5. I'm trying not to let my dislike of Brian Geraghty cloud my judgement but the ridiculous plot where he fights off three attackers after being stabbed with a heel isn't helping matters. I'll try one more episode before I peace out.
  6. If Michael treated Angela the way she treats him, everyone would be justifiably disgusted. Him being a black man from Nigeria doesn't mean he deserves to be disrespected and Angela having biracial grandchildren doesn't mean she isn't a racist. Angela served her future MIL pizza. Can you imagine the reactions if Jess served Debbie pizza the first time they met? Her family pulled out all the stops and she was just dating Colt. The xenophobia on this show is disgusting.
  7. Barely black? Let's not forget the trip to the plantation which accounts for the appearance of most of the ladies. Enslaved women being raped is why she looks the way she does. Questioning her race, saying she isn't black enough, it is disgusting.
