  1. I'd be happy to see the 'America voted" stuff go and the canvas vote - why make someone feel bad about a tattoo they just received, if it is bad it will be/should be in the judge's bottom 3 anyway.

    And yes to back-up canvasses.

  2. 1. feelings on marijuana aside he broke rules and had to go - fair enough

    2. all the tattoos were crap and I wouldn't want any of them on me. Josh's lady firefighter had the weirdly short arm and the shark completely missed what the canvass wanted to say with his choice and that is a tragedy for someone with an amputation trauma who obviously wanted something specific as part of his dealing/coping/rehabilitation/owning it.

    3. part of me wonders if Josh self-sabotaged - scared he wouldn't win and so set it up so he ultimately wouldn't have to.

  3. Perhaps where the show goes from here is some kind of redemption story for Tom...surely Tom's comment to Liz that she had the wrong answer to "did I really love you?" leaves a lot of doors open...I'm not sure I trust the writers enough here but if it's done well it could be a nice story.

I simply do not care if he loved her at all  ever  or not.

  4. and here I was under the impression that Emily WASN'T READY TO GO! and would have to be dragged out kicking and screaming :-(  I really was waiting for a refusal to go or some other crazy - I am dissapoint

maybe she saw the guys in the white coats parked out the back LOL

  5. Thank you!  That kept bugging me.  I couldn't figure out who she reminded me of.  She even sounded like her and had the same mannerisms.

For me I kept thinking that the unsub was the same actress as one of the living dolls in the Frakes ep - "The Uncanny Valley", had to imdb it to be sure.

  6. Oh really Cleen, virgin skin is extremely picky, say it ain't so. Who isn't going to be picky for their first tattoo.

In real life news, a work friend just got a first tattoo. It is terrible. Like really, really bad, bad, bad. I actually gasped in horror when I saw the photo on FB over the weekend. While I have many nice tattoos, I have absolutely no poker face to speak of. As you can imagine, the in-person reveal on Monday was very difficult for me to navigate politely. I actually resorted to, "Did it hurt?"

IMHO all skins should be picky about all their tatts. They are wearing them for life - be open to suggestion from an experienced artist yes but get what you really want.

I just pointed out a misspelling on a friends tat without realising she didn't know :-( now that's an awkward conversation

  7. The most fun in this episode was when my OH and I simultaneously shouted "pluffins" at the tv when we discovered the plague was in the muffins :-) and at every opportunity after that when the baked goods were mentioned

seriously NCIS flew Di Nozzo to NO to get on a ship wearing a hazmat suit like everyone else did? zero sense made

  8. The losing horse was horribly deformed; an elephant had bacon tree bark skin disease, and a gorilla was turned into a blind impressionist's painting. However, I will grant you the judging criteria was on dimension, which is not the same as realism. So if the smug bitch's gorilla had shown greater 3D depth, then it could be as impressionistic as she wanted and won. But she didn't, so I danced in schadenfreude glee.

interesting that everyone was worried about doing the colour of the horse and yet it turned out so ugly that the colour was the least of it's problems - bacon tree bark skin disease sums up that elephant beautifully and I want to work that phrase into a conversation somewhere, sometime!

  9. How good would an NCIS be with both CCH Pounder and Linda Hunt? All kinds of awesome.

As an Australian viewer I have to say that NO appears to be all about the music and the drinking and some shiny beads with some voodoo thrown in maybe - that is the impression I have got from this (and a few other shows too Criminal Minds did an ep and so did Bones) on that basis it doesn't really appeal as a tourist destination I am sorry to say.

I should point out tho that I am sure there is far more to NO - I'm not ragging on it.

  10. Leave that to Michael.  I doubt he'd be able to get away with actually saying "State Farm," but I can definitely see him trying to slide in a "I thought you sold insurance" ad lib to that effect whenever we do meet Jake.

except this would make no sense to those of us non-USA viewers and I suspect the show is aware enough of its global market to avoid americancentric jokes

  11. and we all know where you can find a vessel - camel herding nomads probably left one in the bushes 'accidently a long time ago'

I guess in theory you could use a magnifying glass simply to heat water directly but it'd take forever, so slow that the heat you apply would probably just make it evaporate.  Far better to use the glass to make a fire, which we didn't see them do.  I wonder why.  My guess is that they weren't allowed to, although even if they were they'd have needed some sort of vessel for boiling.

  12. henripootel you make some excellent points - Michael was very much saying "I expect to get sick at some point" with the sub-text of "they will save me/not let me get too sick/medics are close by" while it is all well and good to take that chance (and I am only talking sick not attacked by an animal) I remember a contestant who was still recovering from a serious infection(?) months after her experience and I wouldn't be setting myself up for that so nonchalantly.

  13. I wish that the editing improved - the continuity was rubbish in this episode - you can clearly see the bananas/plantains in the background shot during one scene then Josh is shown finding them a day later! Nit picky maybe but it ruins it for me.

I totally get that the vomits etc would make it hard but I don't think he gave it a full on go and yeah Amanda really just sat it out for most of the time - props to her for doing most of the initial work tho.

  14. OMFG! those tattoos were atrocious. My heart bleeds for the human canvasses - I know they are taking a risk by participating in the show but they have the right, I believe, to expect a reasonable piece of quality work, not that shit that was inked on them this week.

  15. Looks as though it will be more about the personalities and the drama than the tattoos. The female contestant who continually derides everyone else can go, and go now. I'm fine with having a high opinion of your own work but the self-satisfied smirk and the attitude she displays are aggravating, and it is before she even sees their work. Fair enough she may know their work but not under the manufactured conditions of this show.

I also don't understand if lettering is one of the first skills learned and Ty'eesha (sp) didn't do a good job of it why she wasn't the first one to go. Surely she should have a good handle on the basics?

  16. Agreed! I kept thinking of how amazing her hair was throughout the episode! The curls were perfect. It was shiny and looked clean. It never got flat or matted. I would kill for hair like hers. She wins Best Hair Ever on N&A.

I was too busy watching her gold sparkly tipped fingernails to notice the hair - they looked like a possible acrylic job but never grew out.

Also I kept hearing the puma talk in my head in Arnold Swarzenegger's voice saying "it's not a puma!" (referencing the it's not a tumour phrase from Kindergarten Cop)

  17. I'd be just as happy to never see or hear Angela again, pretty much the same for Tommy. I think that Korsak is the best character, and well played, at the moment. I'd like more crime solving than family drama/comedy (?) in what is supposed to be a police show.
