  1. I so hoped Sam would win today! The authors I thought of were all sci-fi - Bradbury, Heinlein, Asimov, Le Guin. I'd not heard of The Duellists.
  2. I respectfully disagree. It's a Christmas season, whether secular or religious. We have pre-Christmas office parties, lunches or dinners with friends, family gatherings on days near Dec. 25 if we can't get together on THE day, etc.
  3. It's not a one-day holiday. It's over a month! There's Advent, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day if you have British relatives, and the Twelve Days of Christmas ending with Epiphany on January 6. As long as it's after Hallowe'en, and not more than two weeks before (American) Thanksgiving, I'm all for it!
  4. I love this one! I'd seen only a shortened version from Dillons (owned by Kroger), so glad to see the full version.
  5. Tina was over the top with her just coming over whenever and giving gifts that were her taste without checking if Marty/Niecy/Malcolm were OK with them. I think she’ll back off, but it may not happen easily. And yes, Grover’s 12, plenty old enough to be doing some household chores and obeying basic rules. I think the ones his folks spelled out were reasonable at the end.
  6. This brings up another question/possible continuity flaw. If Beth was pregnant with Rip’s baby as a teenager, why is she going on a first date with him the night before leaving for college? I thought she was in high school when she had the abortion.
  7. John Dutton is sworn in as Governor of Montana; as John settles into the powers of his new office, he makes bold moves to protect the Yellowstone from his opponents; the bunkhouse and the Duttons enjoy the Governor's ball. Description is from Rotten Tomatoes. I was unable to find a description for E02. Looking forward to seeing resolutions with the Dutton family, neighbors, friends, and enemies. Starts tonight on Paramount.
  8. I have a perfect oval for the week - a big zero! Week 9: 0/5 no * YTD: 20/45 one * That really blows my average for the season. I'll struggle to get back to 50% for sure!
  9. I was spoiled via facebook re: Sam winning, but it was still a fun game to watch! I was pleased that Sam won, I didn't get FJ. Wouldn't have gotten any in the celebs category either.
  10. I've had plaice in a fish and chips shop, but they also offer cod as well as other fish, and I prefer the cod. DD prefers plaice. Their peas are very much like ours, but that may be a nod to foreigners not familiar with their mushy peas.
  11. The exhibition game was fun! I still like Amy, liked Matt much more than I used to. Mattea still bugs.
  12. I expected to see comments about Melissa Conway and that she and Andreas had been together before Susan knew him. It may mean nothing, but at this point I’m intrigued.
  13. The Weird Al biopic, out on Roku. From imbd: Explores every facet of Yankovic's life, from his meteoric rise to fame with early hits like 'Eat It' and 'Like a Surgeon' to his torrid celebrity love affairs and famously depraved lifestyle. We watched it tonight, and it is indeed weird. It's a fun parody of parodies. Too many well-known actors to list, but I loved Quinta Brunson of Abbott Elementary as Oprah. Daniel Radcliffe was excellent as Weird Al. Watched through the credits, as I always do. Interesting to say the least.
  14. Week 8: 1/5 no * YTD: 20/40 one * I made a big batch of stuffed pepper soup, so I'll bring that.
  15. We can hope, right? I was amused at Chen pranking about the radio left behind. Disappointed that the DA's office caved so easily. I'm sure this will come back to bite them.
  16. That was a lovely purse. For 2k, it had better be! I liked the two locations, and “Felicia” playing hide and seek at the market. Both cases were intriguing. Simone messing unintentionally with Cutty’s love life was amusing, but glad it was getting sorted.
  17. That was my experience too! Loved him in The Cool Kids, and his being on Call Me Kat cemented my choice to watch it. He'll be so missed!
  18. This show is so interesting to me. Unlike so many procedurals, I'm not able to predict what's next, and I like that I can't. I was amused when Annika is talking to Morgan about where she's getting the liquor, and Morgan just walks over and opens the liquor cabinet.
  19. Andre Braugher was also in Men of a Certain Age, another underrated show cancelled much too soon. I’m enjoying this tournament. I don’t really remember any of the contestants, though.
  20. I didn't understand that part. Did Sarah introduce herself as Lulu? Why? I liked seeing how Connor got into investment banking, knowing how he ended up wealthy and didn't stay the clueless athlete. Also enjoyed Denise meeting Marina, Sarah coming out to her mother, and the end with Lupe. I still want to see how she was hired by Connor. Isn't it Wedding Bouquet?
  21. Am I correct, we don’t do the FJ Contest during tournament weeks?
  22. Week 5: 3/5 one * YTD: 14/25 one * I did! Wow, what a great bit of good news for your daughter's friend!
