  1. I don't think the modeling industry has changed much in that respect. As much as Fred dying would've made sense, given how frequently patients with tetanus do (1-2 people out of every 10 who get it, according to the CDC website), I'm so glad he didn't because he's always been one of my favorite characters. And Cliff Parisi really deserves a meaty storyline; he was extremely good here. I knew he was going to get ill after that cut, but didn't think of tetanus until the first muscle spasm hit. Then it was obvious. I didn't interpret her reactions as being entirely about the appearance of the brace. She seemed pretty upset that her daughter was clearly uncomfortable and thought it was actual pain. Honestly, I thought last season should've been her last. Marrying Matthew would've given her a good exit storyline. Logically she wouldn't still be working at the same level in the same district for so many years. I definitely think it's time for Trixie to be moving on, as much as I like the character. I don't think it's out of character for Trixie at all. I just think in previous seasons we saw more of her doing other things so it wasn't so obvious.
  2. Honestly, Nolly (as presented here) did seem really hard to work with and definitely a bit of a bully, so I don't blame the director for saying that. Although thinking the network guy wouldn't use that against her if it suited him was very naive. Still, I couldn't help but feel indignation at how Nolly was treated by so many of the men who'd had power over her life and career. Val was a real piece of work in that respect, to both her and his wife. And the end, oh man, that absolutely had me tearing up.
  3. And honestly, there's nothing wrong with that. Many moves, both within a country and abroad, are because one adult in the family wants it. Especially when it's a short-term move, which is what this one was presented as being. Plus, this show is fake as hell, so the narrative given in the episode probably only bore a very limited resemblance to the truth anyway. (I'll confess to being a bit biased because I absolutely would've insisted on the place right by the beach.)
  4. I got FJ pretty quickly. I thought of Turkmenistan first but realized there was at least one closer to the end of the alphabet. Uzbekistan popped into my mind pretty quickly after that. (Weird note: I forget a lot of capital cities, but I will always know that Tashkent is the capital of Uzbekistan. So watch them change it next week.) Never even considered Ukraine, though. I was rooting for Dhruv, but was fine with any of the contestants winning. And Victoria was a beast on the buzzer. I know it but sometimes the word is in my brain and won't surface in time and this was one such occasion. Needing a specific number of letters often trips me up.
  5. And yet Angie is still in it at this point. So we'll see how valid the criticism turns out to be.
  6. Kind of a Latin American version of the full English breakfast. That probably is how it started out. Like the aforementioned English breakfast. Nicolas and Donald (grandson & grandfather) made it to the final 3 in AR12. And they're not the only less physically impressive team to make it that far. I've definitely enjoyed the seasons with a wider range of contestant types more than those with mostly young, strong teams. I was hoping for that. God knows there were enough negative comments during the seasons which were mostly 20-something alphas. Some people aren't happy no matter the what mix of contestants. I wouldn't assume that. We've been surprised before.
  7. While I found them rather annoying overall, I have to agree about that bathroom. Sorry, but bathrooms have sounds and smells I do not want in the bedroom. I absolutely would, especially if it's not forever.
  8. it's got to do with having people at the different task locations during covid restrictions. They didn't want the crew spread out too much. Since this is the last season with those restrictions, I don't really get worrying about it.
  9. No fair, Jeopardy, making my very first Jeopardy boyfriend play my 2nd most recent Jeopardy boyfriend! (Cris Panullo was my most recent one.) Don't worry, though, Brad - you'll always be the One Jeopardy Boyfriend to Rule Them All. Not a great game. There were a lot of stumpers and no one got FJ. To be fair, neither did I. At least Monica didn't win. I couldn't stand her during her original appearances, couldn't stand her during the All-Star tournament, couldn't stand her on Masterminds. If I'd been forced to choose at gunpoint, I'd have been rooting for Sam too. I've never read the book or seen the movie, so I had no chance of getting FJ.
  10. It was steep and narrow with no railings, but still, man up. This season was filmed while still under covid restrictions in a lot of places. I imagine they released teams in bunches for logistical reasons which wouldn't have existed without the pandemic. Seems right to me.
  11. Duuuudes, you were so, so useless. It did sound really good. Not fond of chicarrones, but otherwise, yum. Yes, Lena & Kristy during the haystack challenge in AR6 and Marshall & Lance at Giza in AR5 both got Philiminated in the field. Although technically M&L quit because Marshall's knees were too bad for him to keep going. But Phil came out to tell them everyone else had already checked in. Idk, but they do. Most of them power through but there was that one girl during the Globetrotters first season (AR15) who wouldn't go down the really high water slide because she was afraid of heights, I believe. Maybe? I forget how many switches constitute a regular bald snark.
  12. Mine neither. Did not get FJ. I knew meso meant middle but other than that, I was clueless. Sometimes too much knowledge hurts too. Or we can't make our brains work the right way in the moment. All I could think of was "socket", like a wall socket. But yeah, that's not obnoxious enough for Tesla. So port was kinda disappointing in its simplicity.
  13. Ah, makes sense now. Thanks. 🙂 Yes, this was one of the new apartment blocks built by the council to house people who'd been moved out of the horrible places. It was probably built quickly and as cheaply as possible, though, so shoddy workmanship and materials happened.
  14. I loathed Arthur Chu when he was originally a contestant. Like Yogesh-levels of dislike. He wasn't actually too bad last night, but I'm glad as hell that he missed that DD. Which I got right away, btw. I really liked Dave Madden in all his previous appearances, so I'm thrilled he won. FJ seemed really easy to me but if you didn't know enough Latin to realize that argentum vivum mean living silver, you probably didn't. Not that I know a lot of Latin. I remember him from his original run (19 wins) but even more for his being a member of Team Brad during the Jeopardy All-Stars tournament. Neither he nor Larissa were flashy winners and thus weren't chosen until picks 6 and 7 in the team draft, but they both had experience creating quiz competitions since their original games and Brad valued that. Clearly he was correct because his team won, more on the basis of their performances than his own. Not that he played badly but they were phenomenal. I really want a Pet Jeopardy tournament now. Since the producers are obsessed with giving us umpteen zillion tournaments anyway.
  15. Ugh, Amy and Austin in the same episode. Oh well, at least I got FJ even though it was a guess. I knew the Argonne was WWI so I guessed someone with a wound/scar who was famous in the period after that. Totally missed the category title. So did I. Both seemed pretty obvious to me, but again, if you know it, you know it and if you don't . . . He definitely wasn't as bad as before. And also, not Yogesh.
  16. I guess "pick up" doesn't necessary mean "have to carry separately the whole time" as long as there were two bunches of each color when they handed them off to the judge.
  17. Well, PBS is American, so why would they be trying to sell uncut DVDs to the Brits? Maybe I'm just confused by your comment.
  18. As long as they had two bunches of each color, I'm not sure it mattered who carried them.
  19. My biggest objection to Matt is that he looks like a serial killer. That smile during the intros screamed "Let's kill Batman". But at least he isn't Yogesh. (Yes, I now have a really low bar for tolerable contestants.) Me, too. Apparently dinosaurs walked the earth when I was a child. Fox 45 usually does but there was one a couple of weeks ago where they didn't for some reason. Fortunately the local NBC channel isn't the one which runs Jeopardy because I can't get METV on my satellite.
  20. They did with the seasons I've seen on dvd. Not sure if they still do. But they definitely don't mention it during pledge drives.
  21. They say that but they really aren't, even if you're on public sewer lines. Just like "flushable" tampons. They flow through your house sewer line but create clogs outside. I saw the Dude Wipes commercial and cannot express in English how much it offended me. They already do that. Pink women's pens from Bic, for example.
  22. No, a woman inheriting the throne was not Targaryen tradition. The opposite, in fact, as we saw when the Great Council of Jaehaerys passed over Rhaenys in favor of Viserys despite her having the greater claim. That was the entire point of that scene at the beginning of the series, to show how resistant the nobles of Westeros were to having a woman on the Iron Throne. Okay, so this is my comment on the eternal argument. The trailers, both of them, were fantastic and really make me look forward to the new season.
  23. Her having three bastards who clearly resembled their actual father rather than her husband was a huge mistake which had a broad effect on the realm. She could've chosen a husband who could father an heir for her but she chose to be a brat and blow off the tour of eligible suitors her father had arranged. That was not a mistake, that was a stupid decision. Then she almost fucked her uncle and chose to coerce her bodyguard into sex in order to scratch that itch. And all of that was before she stood there watching her half-brother getting his maimed face sewn up and decided to make the moment all about her sons being bastards instead. So no, I don't agree she's a good person. She's just a lousy as most of the rest of the adults. Although I do place most of the blame for creating the conflict on Otto and Viserys and Daemon. However, we've gone round and round about this in the episode threads and I know we're not going to agree, so I'm leaving this argument here and just go back to talking about how cool the trailers are.
  24. I think there was a leg involving mining for emeralds in Colombia. Maybe it should be but it hasn't been since the very first season. Teams have always helped other teams when they wanted to do so.
