That doesn't really make any sense to me. I understand the necessity for chartered flights but once they've all arrived I see no reason teams couldn't start in the order they finished the previous leg. They're all in the same location either way.

it's got to do with having people at the different task locations during covid restrictions. They didn't want the crew spread out too much.  Since this is the last season with those restrictions, I don't really get worrying about it.

  2. No fair, Jeopardy, making my very first Jeopardy boyfriend play my 2nd most recent Jeopardy boyfriend!  (Cris Panullo was my most recent one.)  Don't worry, though, Brad - you'll always be the One Jeopardy Boyfriend to Rule Them All.

Not a great game.  There were a lot of stumpers and no one got FJ.  To be fair, neither did I.  At least Monica didn't win.  I couldn't stand her during her original appearances, couldn't stand her during the All-Star tournament, couldn't stand her on Masterminds.

I really want to know why they won't release teams in the time slots in which they arrived at the mat, and why they create these bunches at designated time intervals.

This season was filmed while still under covid restrictions in a lot of places.  I imagine they released teams in bunches for logistical reasons which wouldn't have existed without the pandemic.

Has Phil ever eliminated a team mid-challenge to put everyone (especially the audience) out of their misery?

Yes, Lena & Kristy during the haystack challenge in AR6 and Marshall & Lance at Giza in AR5 both got Philiminated in the field.  Although technically M&L quit because Marshall's knees were too bad for him to keep going.  But Phil came out to tell them everyone else had already checked in.

Oh, and Ileanna Douglas's character literally skating on Suzanne's icy grave? *chef's kiss*

I thought she was skating over her brother's final resting place.  Admittedly it has been years since I saw the movie, but obviously I was seriously confused.

I was a bit confused with this storyline because we have seen numerous stories of the horrendous living conditions in Poplar and the effect it had on people's health. Was it that this was a new building, supposedly better but built with shoddy materials and poor craftmanship therefore not much better than he crappy old buildings?

Yes, this was one of the new apartment blocks built by the council to house people who'd been moved out of the horrible places.  It was probably built quickly and as cheaply as possible, though, so shoddy workmanship and materials happened.

  8. I loathed Arthur Chu when he was originally a contestant.  Like Yogesh-levels of dislike.  He wasn't actually too bad last night, but I'm glad as hell that he missed that DD.  Which I got right away, btw.

I really liked Dave Madden in all his previous appearances, so I'm thrilled he won.

FJ seemed really easy to me but if you didn't know enough Latin to realize that argentum vivum mean living silver, you probably didn't.  Not that I know a lot of Latin.

I didn’t remember David at all, and I say this in the most positive way possible, but if I were the casting director for a character who travels with three parrots, he’d be my guy! Also, good for you, David!

I remember him from his original run (19 wins) but even more for his being a member of Team Brad during the Jeopardy All-Stars tournament.  Neither he nor Larissa were flashy winners and thus weren't chosen until picks 6 and 7 in the team draft, but they both had experience creating quiz competitions since their original games and Brad valued that.  Clearly he was correct because his team won, more on the basis of their performances than his own.  Not that he played badly but they were phenomenal.

I really want a Pet Jeopardy tournament now.  Since the producers are obsessed with giving us umpteen zillion tournaments anyway.

I thought they read the clue as seeing "each team member" had to pick up a set of balloons. Therefore both should have carried 3 sets, one of each color.

I guess "pick up" doesn't necessary mean "have to carry separately the whole time" as long as there were two bunches of each color when they handed them off to the judge.

I’m pretty sure the dvds have the full episodes, and they’re not trying to sell them to the Brits. They’re getting the max ad money they can per episode and relying on diehard fans to buy up the uncut dvds. (The UNcut versions are not streamed, else dvd sales would plummet).

Well, PBS is American, so why would they be trying to sell uncut DVDs to the Brits?  Maybe I'm just confused by your comment.

Release the full uncut episodes on DVD, then that would give people a real reason/a greater incentive to pledge to PBS and be able to watch the full uncut episodes.

They did with the seasons I've seen on dvd.  Not sure if they still do.  But they definitely don't mention it during pledge drives.

She wasn’t being installed. She was inheriting her throne as tradition. Aegon was the one who was installed.

No, a woman inheriting the throne was not Targaryen tradition.  The opposite, in fact, as we saw when the Great Council of Jaehaerys passed over Rhaenys in favor of Viserys despite her having the greater claim.  That was the entire point of that scene at the beginning of the series, to show how resistant the nobles of Westeros were to having a woman on the Iron Throne.

Okay, so this is my comment on the eternal argument.

The trailers, both of them, were fantastic and really make me look forward to the new season.

I don't know how to approach this thought. I think Rhaenyra has shown herself to be a reasonably good person. She made some bad decisions but those had more personal effect IMO rather than broad effect to the realm. Installing Aegon as King is seemingly a far worse decision than anything Rhaenyra has done.

What would have been the amicable solution, have Rhaenyra's babies be squires and/or cup bearers? I don't really know the answer to that question.

Her having three bastards who clearly resembled their actual father rather than her husband was a huge mistake which had a broad effect on the realm.  She could've chosen a husband who could father an heir for her but she chose to be a brat and blow off the tour of eligible suitors her father had arranged.  That was not a mistake, that was a stupid decision.  Then she almost fucked her uncle and chose to coerce her bodyguard into sex in order to scratch that itch.

And all of that was before she stood there watching her half-brother getting his maimed face sewn up and decided to make the moment all about her sons being bastards instead.  So no, I don't agree she's a good person.  She's just a lousy as most of the rest of the adults.

Although I do place most of the blame for creating the conflict on Otto and Viserys and Daemon.

However, we've gone round and round about this in the episode threads and I know we're not going to agree, so I'm leaving this argument here and just go back to talking about how cool the trailers are.

That's not to say that anyone on team black never did anything wrong or are moral and good people.  But nothing any of them did, unlike the greens, was directly responsible for the war or what led up to it.

Eh, it's both sides.  Rhaenyra brought a lot of this on herself by making bad decisions and refusing to own them.  Both sides are so concerned that they have the right to the throne and don't give a tinker's damn what their argument does to the realm.  There are very few good people here, and none of them are the ones vying for the throne.

And to be clear, I include Aemond in that none.  I understand a good bit of why he's the way he is, but that doesn't mean I agree with everything he does.  He's just so hot that I don't care.

I couldn't make it through the first episode when they had Henry VIII's uncle killed. What uncle? His only uncles were the princes in the Tower.

Especially since since the fictional uncle was more dynamic in his five minutes of screen time than Jonathan Rhys Meyers' lackluster Henry was in the entire first season.  Which is when I stopped watching; I only stayed that long for Maria Doyle Kennedy's magnificent Catherine of Aragon anyway.  Well, her and Jeremy Northam.

Yeah, basically Jonathan Rhys Meyers was horribly miscast and I gave up after the first season because of him.

Me, too.  But at least the first 3 contestants in this one were all people I liked during their previous appearances.  And Pam wasn't using the full title of every category, which was very much appreciated.

I so should've gotten FJ, with my interest in the US Space program and thus in the Soviet one, at least tangentially, but I had no clue.

I was amused by the Ice Ice Baby category but got none of answers because I've never actually listened to the song.

I noticed they didn't say the full name of the categories, and when continuing in the same category, sometimes almost didn't say the name at all. The J! culture has changed over time so much!

When I was a contestant, they specifically told us not to say the entire category title after the first time someone picked it so the game would go quicker.  It's only this season where I noticed that had changed and everyone was saying the whole title.

    17 hours ago, Bastet said:

So I'm not burdened by knowledge, plus I doubt based on experience J! ever asks about any other than those three; the only "he" of those is Gagarin, so it had to be him.  So, certainly not an instaget, but I was sure of it by the time I got there.

Sometimes having a little knowledge about a subject is a good thing.  I probably should've gotten it because, as you say, if it's a male cosmonaut, it's almost always Yuri Gagarin.  I think there might've been a clue about Vladimir Komarov once, but that could've been a different quiz show.  (For future reference, if they ask about a cosmonaut killed when his space capsule crashed to Earth at the end of a mission, it's Komarov.)
