  1. A little late on this, but I really liked Episode Gladiolus. It was short, but I really liked that it was just him and Cor. I also liked the balanced tone, it wasn't too light or dark. I also like the Rugged outfit they give you for getting 500k+ in the score mode. Gladio has a nice tatoo and even better abs. ;) Sadly, I think it will be forgotten about after Episode Prompto and Ignis. Gladio probably is my favorite character character after Regis and Noctis. They never revealed who he was dating either.
  2. I do vaguely recall watching the premiere at night. I could just be remembering the Batman Beyond premiere though. Man Lenard Nimoy has lots of cool VA credits. Anyhoo, thank you.
  3. Does anyone remember an animated cartoon that aired circa 1996 or 1997 about aliens suddenly making their presence known? It aired Saturday mornings on the WB/WGN and followed a mother and son. It was revealed the son was half alien and supposed to be something of an ambassador. It was dramatic a la Batman: The Animated Series season 1 and 2.
  4. This is the saddest, funniest, and thoughtful thing I've seen today. I think I want to see this movie, but I can't make it through Precious. Don't see myself making it through this movie.
  5. I don't know. I did love the movie though. And I have to say, if women and poc aren't going to be focus of a story. At least write and shoot (with a camera) them well, like Chapter 2. I count the number of Black women (now people in films) and I love that of the few here they were all characters first. I counted Charon, Cassian, the Rome Continental concierge, Laurence Fisheburne. And for once there was a nude scene and I didn't feel uncomfortable about it. I hope more action movies are made like this. I was reading about the production of John Wick and it seems quite of few of them (director and actors IIRC) worked on the Matrix franchise.
  6. So, I just watched Chapter 2 and it was awesome, the ending was excellent and depressing though.
  7. Bump. FFXV got updated today along with WoFF. A lot of preorder DLC was released for general purchase today, as well the Chocobo/Moogle Festival. You get to travel a festive Altissia with Carbuncle to earn a fireworks studded ending. You can also collect two new recipes, a new rod and wheel, two new outfits, completion of the event nets you a dream egg. There's news slated for Episode Gladio on the 31st. WoFF got the Sora Champion DLC today as well. I gave WoFF a second chance and reached chapter 19. I stand by my initial reaction, though I would like to expand on it. It well done from an artistic, musical, story and gameplay perspective, but all together it's the least interesting game I've ever played. I just can't connect to the main characters. The best part of the game to me (miniventures) pretends they aren't even there! By the time I reached the Eclispe region, I just fast forwarded through their dialogue. Having said that, the crossover aspect is really well done.
  8. Oh, hey y'all. I was actually thinking over FF today, and it hit me like a ton of bricks. Sania is, as far as I know, FF's first human Black woman with voiced dialogue. YMMV on Donna from X, she reads more SE Asian to me. There's only one other human Black woman character that I know of otherwise and that was the Sephiroth fan in Crisis Core. Same director, Tabata. Apparently Tabata has implied that Lucis is more open than Japan under PM Abe (IIRC), but I can't remember where I read this. Any, I just found that an interesting tidbit. ETA: Tabata speaks of it briefly during an ATR for XV this year and was referring to friendliness of the gov't. Also, Sora was released as free DLC for WoFF in Japan today. Keep your eyes peeled.
  9. Two. I like Pitbull, he comes across as a down to earth, but fun loving guy. I read up on his background and it seems like he's matured over the years, so I don't get the hate. And I hate Johnny Cash's? cover of Hurt. Hurt isn't even a good song, but he doesn't even sing it. Just singsong it.
  10. There's a link in the DiC/Cloverway dub thread. Anyhoo, has anyone seen the overdub Ford Fusion ad with the new Sailor Moon English VAs (Stephanie Sheh and Michelle Ruff). Very exciting for me because I drive a 2006 Ford Fusion. XD
  11. Uh, Nicki Minaj's Anaconda... With rabbits... Nevermind. XD That's the one that gave me pause. It's best if you don't think too much about it.
  12. I don't understand why every "teen" movie nowadays needs to follow "outcast" teens. One of the things I really liked about Power Rangers was they seemed like super decent kids, well liked enough that it didn't matter they weren't super popular like the Saved By The Bell kids and didn't get involved in teen pitfalls like drinking, sex... and diet pills. Ugh, I can already tell that the romance angle will kill this movie. And I tired of the Black kid being the spoil sport in these types movies (super hero, adventure, horror, comedy... well, I guess all types XD). There's a difference between common sense and caution and being too terrified to take a leap of faith.
  13. Catch a tonberry for me. :) Tonberries were ALWAYS my favorite.
  14. This is the funniest thing I've read all day. I just watched The Day After too...
  15. Apparently, SE is working on adding more characters to the party. Their also working on redoing Chapter 13. I hated it the first time around because I wanted to finish quickly, especially given how short the prior two chapter were. Now that that's out of my system, the second time was a lot better. Also, we have dozens on button on the PS4 (and presumably XBONE) controller... Why is jump the same button as accept/talk (command).
  16. Saw the trailer for it, and another similar animated film with singing animals, when I went to see Moana. It's either going to be very good or very bad. Having said that, I also think it could lift a few spirits regardless of quality. Ain't nothing wrong with that.
  17. I tried replaying IX a few years ago on the PS3 and could not get past Lindblum because of boredom and the slow battle system. I played IX all the time on the original PS and replaying the PSN versions of VII, VIII, and HD remakes of KH and FFX did not have that effect on me. I've beaten the game and like and enjoy it. I'm doing post game content right now and looking forward to the patches and DLC. It's less buggy than Skyrim, has less lore than Dragon Age, great gameplay a la Crisis Core meets KHBBS, but what I like the most about it is the characters. I grew really attached to all the characters, major and small. Having said that, I think the scenarios of VsXIII and Nomura as a director would have been better. I love Hajime Tabata, as he was the director of Crisis Core, but XV feels like a PSP game at the end of the day. Reading some of his interviews and the "leaks" about XV's development makes me think Tabata should have had a partner in directing. XV is a unique experience, as every FF should be, but Tabata is right. There is a FF disease and it seems like all the fans want is for SE is do VI again, VII again, or X again. Well, you (general) can have those kinds of experiences... with the rereleases of VI, VII, and X. The long and short of it is, XV draws heavy inspiration from VII, VIII, and X in terms of plot and mechanics. And it should be noted that ever since VIII was released, every new FF is the worst FF and FF is dead. Also, forgive me if this rude, but the criticism of the story in XV drives me batty. I have heard people complaining about the story not making sense or having to watch Kingsglaive or Brotherhood to understand the whole deal. No, you don't. It's true that SE added scenes from Kingsglaive, but it was primarily fixing the tell, don't show problem of the fall of Insomnia in the story. All you have to do is pay attention. Maybe this is my aspiration to be a writer showing, but if you can't remember the details that are spoon fed to you by the game, then how... how you (again general) did beat any other RPG and understand the story? How did you pass freshman English? You want to be treated like an intelligent audience, then you have to do the hard work of paying attention to the material, just like you would a book. On a lighter note, I enjoy the boys' fashions, but their One thing I've noticed. It seems that Nomura has gotten away from fully designing characters... Is it just him, or is this apart of a larger trend in Japanese game development? I mean Lightning and many of the XIII saga characters do have part time modelling gigs with Armani and Louis Vuitton. Is this the new normal?
  18. I do have WoFF, bought it day one off PSN. It's ok, but it didn't grab me. It was painful looking at very KH meets The World Ends With You style art and no soul. By the by, XV is also on X-Box 1.
  19. Anyone getting XV this week? Can't wait, some people already have it... Getting mine on PSN for the mini soundtrack.
  20. I'm mad. Cary Elwes got into a twitter fight with Trump and got blocked by him and his tiny hands and no one here mentioned it. But what makes me angrier is y'all not using nickname Elwes gave him. Prince Trumperdink. Elwes will go down in history for that.
  21. Looking forward to this. Only see trailers for it with "Black" movies though. This is why we have problems people.
  22. Have you (general) ever worked in government environs in the US? It's always been 5 years or so behind private sector tech. A few years ago the IRS was still using Windows 7. They use programs to replicate Expedia, but are 5 times harder to use. Depending on your status you can't even reserve a room on a US base online. That was an issue when Obama took office. I find it hard to believe Hillary was competent enough to have an entire private email server setup and still use a blackberry by choice.
  23. I have seen that exact same attitude from women from something as trivial as female mages in FF. I was called the worst kind of feminist because I dare spoke out about about the role of women in FF and their state of dress. I'm not a feminist, but I don't like minorities of any sort being treated as an after thought be the real world or fiction. Fuck that. If there's something you can or want to do, and it doesn't hurt anyone, do it. I voted for Bernie in the primary as a Black woman and Hillary in the general.
  24. This has come up multiple times about different anime and the bottom line comes down to how much the animators care about quality. This isn't my opinion, this is from one the people that animates One Punch Man or whatever. Its not about money or time (about every anime has about a week or two of production time between episodes). It's clear to me that the first 2 seasons were done on the fly and then some because of the number of errors. Wrong brooches, confusion about Queen and Princess Serenity in the opening and episodes, off model and extremely limited animation--really seems like the animators were given clips of the transformations from the 90s and the manga and told to make it work. This isn't bad, Kill La Kill's last episodes were being written and animated pretty much right up until it actually aired. Anyone who has seen the animation studio episode of Paranoia Agent can imagine what that was like--sans mental illness and murders... I guess this season will last for 13 episodes and the Dream arc will start. The Chibi Usa ending is not only annoying, it spoiled the end of the last episode.
  25. I don't have an issue with them dying, so much as how Uranus and Neptune killed them in less than 5 seconds. Only for their dumb gambit to fail. And worse, they had formed a family with each other. We never saw Uranus or Neptune apologize for that mess.
