  1. Yeah, Olenna didn't have direct access to the cup or the wine. If the gem was the poison then she would have had to pass it to Margery at some point (if the target was Joff) which we didn't see happen. The only people who made direct contact with Margery during the feast were Brienne, Cercei and Joffrey, if I remember correctly. So many clues but many more questions. Fun fun. Whoever dunnit, they sure wanted it to be a spectacle, didn't they? The royal wedding doesn't seem like the greatest place to carry out a murder unless they wanted to make a show of it. Seems like he could be much easier dispatched amidst his daily goings-on. Overall, I loved how they painted so many people as a suspect. Oberon coming to town with revenge on his mind but with no obvious link to the murder. I was also intrigued by the many shots of Varys, looking very solemn and uncomfortable in every scene. Like he may have known what was going to happen. In fact, the first we see of the wedding, it is a slow pan up to Varys in the crowd. Wonder if it means anything.
  2. Couple thoughts on poison and the Tyrells. I believe the Tyrell -> Dontos -> Sansa -> Tyrell theory is the likely one. There are enough degrees of separation to avoid a clear link to Lady O as opposed to her riding down to the poison market and picking up a vial. The necklace gift, Lady O picking out a gem, the movement of the cup and Dontos being there immediately to sweep Sansa away is way too much to ignore IMO. The pie was served to a lot of people as was the wine, so yeah. All that said, I hope I am completely wrong and caught completely off guard. As for why they may have done it- Perhaps the Tyrells have come to Kings Landing in order to pry power away from the Lannisters. Lady O is well aware of the Lannister's debt (and keeps reminding Tywin) and an epic wedding would help drain their fortune even further. The Lannisters hold several important positions of power including King, Hand, Queen Regent and Master of Coin (I suppose.). The Hand is appointed by the King as is the Master of Coin and the Kings Guard is sworn to protect the current king. With the King dead, all other positions of power fall like dominos -IF - Tommen is discredited as a Lannister love child before taking the throne. Lady O knows about Joff and Tommen's parentage as shown in the episode where she asked Tywin about the "rumors." So, if that were to happen, we have already seen the throne can be taken by whoever has the fatter wallet and city watch. That would seem like a much bigger power play than having Margery become the Queen. Just take the throne!
  3. Path of the cup: First shot of Joffrey seated at the reception. Only him and Margery at the center table with a guard standing on both sides. Margery has a glass goblet while Joffrey's is gold. Cup sits in front of him. Joffrey raises cup to announce the Queen would like to say a few words. Doesn't drink from it. Sets it back in same place. Joffrey takes a sip during the "war of the five kings". Cuts right before he drinks, but he is in motion. Places it in front of him. Looks to take another sip before the camera cuts during the performance. Spits wine out while laughing. Back in front. Picks up cup and pours wine on Tyrion's head, dips his finger in cup and licks finger. Holds cup and drops it in on ground. Kicks cup and it rolls under table. Sansa picks up cup out of view and hands it to Tyrion. They make eye contact and Tyrion looks inside the cup. Tyrian fills cup with wine from his table and extends it to Joffrey. "Community" wine that others have presumably been drinking. Joffrey takes cup, takes a drink and hands it to Margery. Margery turns and places cup near the end of the couple's table. Pie is brought to everyone in the wedding party. Margery points to the cup as Tyrion is ordered to get his cup for him. Joffrey drinks, coughs, dies.
  4. I've been considering the adventures of Arya and the Hound. I'm simply having too much fun with their storyline and am convinced that something terrible is bound to happen. The men they killed in the inn were with the Mountain, ravaging the lands and engaging in so much torture that it was getting just plain boring for the King's men. As our two heroes rode into the sunset last episode, you could see the landscape in burning shambles. Are they on course for a showdown between the Clegane brothers? Feels like it. Perhaps this is where they will part ways, with the Hound captured/dying to allow Arya to escape and make her way to Braavos. The show has certainly made me care enough about the Hound by now to allow for another painful character exit. As for the dragons, I'm curious if there has been mention of how they died? Are they nigh-invulnerable creatures that die from old age? Or, did people figure out how to kill them and decorate their throne rooms with skull-trophies? I just don't have a great sense of how powerful these creatures are and if the three of them alone present an awesome danger to the large armies of Westeros. Perhaps they will participate in the next (several?) attacks on slaver cities and we can find out.
  5. Was just watching the first season when Tyrion is visiting the wall. Benjen and The Lord Commander say there are less than 1,000 men of the Nights Watch. Not sure how many died north of the wall since then. Stannis is coming, but his army was torn up at the siege of KL. With 100,000 Wildlings and an army of wights and white walkers coming, it doesn't look good. Bran better hope he can warg in to an atomic bomb. Either that or man kind better forge an alliance and start chipping away on dragon glass. I'm desperately hoping to see some escalation of events here this season. Someone also mentions that the days are growing shorter and that this will be a long winter. Since then, I don't recall seeing any signs that summer is changing to winter (other than some stray dire wolves). Maybe winter is still a ways away and the white walkers won't try to come down until Westeros is covered with snow? Meanwhile, a bunch of fat cats are down south in KL preparing to drink cartloads of wedding wine and throwing priceless necklaces off balconies. What is it going to take to wake them up to the realities of the whole winter situation?
  6. I hope the smaller of the two new swords is for Tyrion. With Jamie sticking with the Kings Guard, Tywin needs an heir to Casterly Rock, right? Whoever it goes to, I want both swords reunited with the Starks one day. The Doom of Valyria... Sounds bad. Is Dany is anywhere around Valyria? Besides making great steel and some Doom-y event, do we know anything else about this place? It comes up frequently enough that it probably ties in somehow. Perhaps Dany and Co. will swing through on their "attack every city on the continent tour". I'm a little restless with this storyline, apparently, but this next city, Mereen (?) might be a notch up on the evil meter. Could be fun. The Fool and Sansa sequence, for me, felt like it put her on the path towards becoming something more than a victim. Perhaps we see her start playing the game now. Everyone would surely underestimate her to an extreme degree, leaving ample opportunity to strike one for the good guys. Lastly, I wonder if the Wildlings and Nights Watch can form an alliance with the white walkers coming. Jon's Dances with Wolves experience might have given him the insight to question why, exactly, they are about to slaughter each other. They seem like two feuding siblings who have been fighting so long they may have forgotten why they even started. I guess cannibals are kinda bad but Ygritte and the gang seem like decent folks.
