Sadly there really isn't too much to discuss on here till audition season gets closer but, I just got done catching up with one of my friends who lives in Frisco/The Star area and I feel like I have to share!

*This is gossip I am sharing from someone who is very familiar with the day-to-day prodancer lifestyle in the DFW area so take it as you will!*

They were explaining to me how you can better guess who is re-auditioning for the upcoming season and who is/has been giving a *tone up* warning.

Please let me know whatever you think! I am currently stuck inside because of Year 3 of Dallaska and miss the discussions!

This sounds like a reasonable theory to me!

  2. @StepKickClunk I thought the same thing and was disappointed that those two decades were lumped together.

    @cherryblossom YES to fresh music!

@ShellyB, you looked amazing, per the usual. Please tell K&J, Charlotte, and all the DCC and Retired Sweethearts that we LOVED seeing them and that we always want more, more, more, lol! Personally, I'd continue to follow the journey of the ladies in whatever capacity that you guys can make available to us. Before the announcement that CMT wasn't renewing the show, I was looking forward to being able to see two legacies on the team at the same time, especially since that hasn't happened before

Thanks for finding this. Sophy recovered like a true professional. I can only imagine how devastating and jarring that must have been for her.

Just got on here after a couple of days away and all I have to say is ...

    1. How absolutely happy I am it seems things are picking up again. Someone said it before, and they were right, but the board these past months (year) has been pretty dead recently so it's cool to see conversation starting up again.

Right on! The excitement when you open this tab and see so many new replies to read is REAL!

Idk if I ever spoke about my thoughts on the 5 year term limit, Long story short, I don't like it. If a girl wants to be a DCC forever, let her be a DCC forever. And yes that includes VK (although I will not be happy about it lol)

As long as they go through the audition process like the rest of the girls, then people should decide when they want to retire

And if that doesn't work, then they should do a 10 year term limit, instead of 5 (cause no DCC EVER has done 10 years, the longest has been 8)

I completely agree. The job seems incredibly challenging in a multitude of ways. If a dancer can hack it and earn her boots year after year, why wouldn't you want that kind of leadership, loyalty, and reliability?

Also, Tia is just goals. She’s amazing. Top 3 DCC ever in my opinion of course. Why does no one mention her?!

I love Tia too.  So bubbly and charismatic.  She looks even better now.

I'm with y'all on Tia. She brought a unique look and I thought she was great. Seems like I remember some posters saying that she was one of the party girls or something like that. Maybe that has something to do with the lack of "Tia appreciation". And yes-STILL gorgeous.

But, she's also an amazing power house and I absolutely loved to see her dance.

Anyway, I wish her well and am really pleased that everything worked out for her in the end.

Same! She's an energetic and flawless performer and she seems to be enjoying the life that she's built for herself. I'm a sucker for nostalgia, so I'm already pumped up to see the group of alumni we'll see in TS at her wedding. After six years on the team? So ready for all the videos and she's barely been engaged for 24 hours, lmao!

Also, love how involved her coach and teammates are. Such a cute party they threw for Jenna and her fiance.

UO, I didn't think the choreography looked all that bad & I thought Tyra did a good job.

Before I watched it, I expected it to be way worse based on the comments. 😆 I'd give it a B, especially viewing it under the lens that @UnicornKicksBack offered.

JennA's prep classes are more about DCC technique and prepping for auditions than to be edgy or even entertaining, etc. Yeah all that's important, but she drills basic Dcc moves that if you can't do correctly, you have zero need to even show up at auditions.

Your assessment totally makes sense. After seeing Tyra and Jensen doing the same piece, it looks way better on Tyra to me.

Have we talked about Sasha's daughter? Decent technique, kicks, power, looks - look at all her insta posts. If this girl wants to be a legacy, they'd be blind and stupid to not take her. https://www.instagram.com/p/B0lndMDAkmu/

Thanks for the links; I've been meaning to follow her. I'm keeping alllll of my fingers crossed that she tries out one day!

It was a complaint filed with the Florida Commission on Human Relations in 2018. The basis of the compliant was discrimination and retaliation based on gender.

The cheerleader (Kristan Ware) had spoken freely about her faith, posting something about her baptism on social media. She had also spoken with her teammates about her plan to remain a virgin until marriage.  This info made its way to the coaches and they brought it up when she interviewed for a third year on the team. She was chosen for the team that year, but felt that she was bullied about her faith and her virginity. She said she had written blogs for the dolphins website that contained references to her faith, and those references had been removed. She resigned from the team before the end of the 2016-17 season, and filed the complaint a year later.

Anyway, the main gist of the complaint was that the football players were allowed to talk openly about their faith and post about it on their socials, but she was forbidden to do so and it was a double standard as well as a hostile work environment. In response, the Dolphins said they had dealt with the issue the year it happened (2016) and apologies had been made.

Kristan later dropped the complaint and has not commented on her reasons for doing so.

    Well yes...and no.

Dorie appears to have been relatively unscathed, probably because she was already pretty removed from the cheerleaders by the time the complaint was filed in 2018 (even though the cheerleader who filed the complaint called her out directly by name, saying that Dorie had told her to keep discussion of her virginity private).

Dorie was dolphins cheerleader director from 1996 to 2003, then moved into overall event and brand management and away from day to day management of the cheerleaders. By the time the lawsuit happened, Dorie had been Senior Director of Entertainment and Brand Impact for several years, so she was even more removed from the scene. I think she was kind of a Charlotte, someone one turned up for auditions and key events, but didn't have much to do with it the rest of the time unless something needed to be escalated. Dorie was reprimanded but was not demoted and her role did not change as a result of the complaint. In fact, she stayed in that role until she left the Dolphins this year, after 25 years with them. She is now a VP with Formula One.

Brooke, on the other hand, either resigned or was let go in the wake of the lawsuit and was replaced by Natalie Chernow, who for a few years did double duty as Coach/Choreographer for the Dolphins AND Coach/Choreographer of the Miami Hurricanettes, which is a role Tess Guidry took over this year. Small world.

Anyway, the Dolphins really cleaned house in 2018, with a new manager Johanna Torres, and Chernow, who had been teaching some technique classes to the DCC at the time (among her many other dance commitments)

Not quite sure where this belongs, but this includes a very young director Kelli talking about the auditions for the 1993 DCC.

I noticed Jill Marie Jones near the end of the clip towards the left side of the screen when they're showing all of the ladies who made the team. According to Pompedia, it was her rookie year.

Leeza's shade at the end is golden; her expression is the best.

I knew that would happen so here’s a screenshot.

Thanks for including the date, too. If it was fine for over 2 years, why remove it now? (Not you. Judy of course.)

*"Fine" meaning: she's not trying out, she's just a kid, she was hurting, ...insert any other reply for why post this, but drag Ava through the mud for whatever her video was.

Ashley Paige (over Morgan and Kaitlyn in season 8)

One veteran cut I will never understand is Carmen Butler from season 3. She was a 2nd group leader in season 2 and going into her fourth year.

The Ashley Paige situation still baffles me. They said she was stiff, but they brought her back into training camp. If the problem was her style, which remained the same, why bring her back? If she wasn't as bad as they made her out to be, what was the real reason for her cut(s)?

Okay. I wish someone had the tea about Carmen's situation. In season 2, they loved her sexy walk across the room, too. Her body still looked lithe season 3 and she went on to dance for the Mavs that year, so what really happened? She looked devastated and in disbelief when they cut her.

Justice for Lacey, whose muscular arms are covered by a damn blouse just like a cankle is covered by the damn boot. I’m willing to bet Lauren with the insane abs was also putting on a majestic gun show, same as Stephanie, Lisa, etc. Like hey that’s some great, hard earned, strong bodies these women have busted their ass for and fueled up to get.

Exactly! I feel like there was more to the story than we were shown. Cause how??? How does she not get an invitation to TC? Same with LSU Kat with the dark hair and phenomenal kicks.

    Kat from LSU.

I loved Auto Amy, but I give her a pass — God really did have a better plan for her, with the Golden State Warriors during a championship season.

Totally agree about Kat, which reminded me about "muscular arms" Lacey, who I also thought should've made the team. Forever love Auto Amy!
