  1. I didn't even know this show was coming back until it showed up on the DVR. I never removed the timer from season 1 so it automatically recorded season 2. I really wish the outdoor kitchen aspect had been changed...the humidity presents too many preventable issues for the bakers. I was wondering though why the couple who had to leave were the only ones who couldn't manage the fondant. Everyone else had fondant somewhere on their cakes. The bakers seem confused by Johnny. He says "start" and they just stand there. He says "go home now" and they just stand there. I don't get it.
  2. Unpopular opinion here, but I liked the Nina challenge. Far too many times during finale judging we hear them criticize the designers for not having this or that piece as part of their collection, as if including it would have pushed them over the top. Maybe it would have in some cases and winners might have changed. I don't know about going that far, but this way no designer is left with the "missing element" critique. Also no one was asked to make anything they hadn't done before, so it really should not have been that hard to do. Hester's only criteria was single color; she could have made any crazy-ass thing she wanted aside from that fact. Sure Garo's tailoring was harder, but he had previously pulled it off during the regular challenges so there was no reason to expect he couldn't do it again. By the nature of what everyone presented to Nina there was going to be disparity in what she said to include, but it was something they as designers should have already thought to add to the collections on their own to make them complete. I was rooting for Bishme, I'm sorry he got eliminated like that. He had some truly great stuff this season and should manage to overcome this setback. Dealing with family health issues is no joke but it sounds like he has a strong support system.
  3. Oh that was horrible!! Glad Lucy won though. I hate when part way through the finale they eliminate someone to get it down to 2 people. Its insulting...and then to bring back Oz for who the hell knows reason?? They could have kept Diana there and talked to her, it would have made more sense. Ashley knowing the winner before opening the envelope was a major mistake. Axel should demand a recount.
  4. I didn't see the first few episodes of this season, but it's worlds better than the first season! Still has a way to go though....too much multitasking for the contestants to be good at everything. I did notice that Ashley didn't give Jayson a hug before he left....didn't she hug everyone else or am I flashing back to Alyssa on PRAS?
  5. The unicorns were awesome! The sheepdog was extremely cute but I also was wondering why there was only one. It didn't say "wedding" at all to me. The other confusing thing was the one guy said he didn't like the taste of the chocolate peanut butter cake, but the reception photo showed that same cake flavor. Did they use that exact same cake for the reception, like the same day? I assumed the winning baker would make changes or improvements before providing the actual reception cake. Hubby wants to go to Las Vegas for his birthday in a few weeks... I have already looked up the location of Stephen and Jared's bakeries. I plan to overdose on their cupcakes. :)
  6. Oh I will not miss Adriana's voice! It's so painful to hear her speak, as if every word is a struggle. Gorgeous woman though. I too thought that wasn't right for Sir John to not give Andrew any specifics when he did so for Corey and Sandy, though Corey got the most. I was hoping for an Andrew win since I liked his looks the most throughout the show, but he did kinda drop the ball at the end. A few weeks ago there was a crawler on the screen that said they were looking for contestants for season 2...hopefully someone figures out how to do it better! Either hair or make-up but not both together. There was some not so great hair that was saved by great make-up from the assistant a few times. I also didn't like that the assistants were not contestants themselves. What did they get out of it all? Maybe have a rotating pairing of the hair and make-up people all season, like the pop-up salon did? Way too many issues with this show as it stands.
  7. Happy that Victoria went home, was getting really tired of the same outfit each week from her, which pretty much matched what she was already wearing. Surprised they kept Jaxson over Jesse, I think Jaxson will be the next to leave. Matt is annoying but he does have some good ideas, so I don't mind him staying for now. Loved Maya's outfit, I want it. Best part of the episode was seeing SWATCH!!!
  8. I posted on the Hannah thread asking who the heck she was...oh boy! Is that the best they could do? She is pretty awful. I couldn't stand the way she was talking down to the contestants. Yes they are kids but you have them in an adult style competition, so treat them as worthy of being there. I liked how Christian and Kelly took the time to explain what was wrong with the various designs rather than just saying "I don't like it" in a tired-voiced Nina Garcia way. I also think Tim will be a better mentor on this show. The adults don't ever think they need mentoring...they want Tim to either say its fabulous or to tell them what to do if they are stuck. They don't want criticism or to be reminded of time management issues. The kids need that and accept it.
  9. Am I supposed to know who this woman is? Because I've never heard of her... Not impressed by her. You're not teaching preschool; talk to the contestants as people, not as 3 year olds.
  10. I'm glad Eddie won. I loved him on Masterchef and even though I agree the BBQ thing has been done to death I will still watch his show. They did a pretty big concept change from Damaris' first season to her second, so maybe Eddie will get the same kind of change if they decide to keep him past 6 episodes. I think Jay also deserved to win and I am sure he will be getting a show as well at some point. I knew he was out when the comment about the winner needing to appear on different types of shows was made. All I could think of was Jay walking into the Italian restaurant Dom visited and saying "yeah you've been here for 100 years but do you have a CAJUN meatball??" Im surprised no one commented on what I thought was the best exchange from the flashbacks: Sunny = I would watch someone boring if the food was good. Giada (looking shocked) = Seriously?? Sunny = Yeah, I watch Bobby Flay all the time!
  11. I'm so glad Oscar won. I was afraid when I heard the Asha love being handed down by the judges. For what?? I agree with whoever mentioned it above: Bianca Jagger at Studio 54 is NOT a compliment!! So glad NPH and Heidi have sense and voices and actually understand the judging criteria for a show like this. My biggest problem with Sam's collection was that it was all done in that one fabric. It looked like the same outfit repeated 5 times except maybe with a stripe from an exploded highlighter pen here and there. I would have liked it better if he used it as an accent with other fabrics as a way to represent his growth...that he didn't need to cling to what he was at the beginning so much. Shan...what happened?? Did seeing your cute kids turn some creativity switch off in your head? I was sorry he was last but it was disappointing. Anyway I am glad this show is over and I plan to ignore the Season 2 thread because I only have 1 wish: NO SEASON 2!
  12. Glad I found this site so I could keep up with this trainwreck to the end and validate that my opinions are shared by others. Thankfully I am not the only crazy one (according to Mondo) who sees no talent whatsoever in Asha! That dress was horrid, in every iteration they showed on the dress form. And she totally stole that strap idea from Natalia! Grrrrr. Oscar and Shan are the only ones who make anything wearable for the most part. They need to be top 2. And Oscar the dog can be third. Tim needs a reality check. I have lost all resepct for him after his recent comments. I didn't comment much on TWoP but I will here if the regulars don't mind another newbie invading their turf. Hi eveyone!
