  1. Georgina and Esther went on a bit too long, but was still enjoyable. The mattress sketch - the ending just killed me, Peele's face and him holding the stuffed animal. The texting sketch was so spot on. There are only so many smiley icons one can add to a text, and if you're in the wrong mood in the first place, nothing will change it. Love these guys.
  2. This clip of Crowded House doing "Distant Sun" on the Tonight Show is so good. I actually like it better than the album version of the song. The musicians are all on point, Neil's voice is excellent, and Paul Hester's hoots in the background are so much fun. They're really playing the hell out of the song.
  3. Similar to "If I hear that song one more time..." but not quite the same. What are some songs which pop in your head randomly and stay for hours/days? This song, with its harmonies and repeated chorus, stays with me. Luckily, it's a gorgeous song.
  4. Well, I love both! The Housemartins were fairly short-lived, but their music was quite good and infectious. And the band spawned two other bigger-time bands, The Beautiful South and Fatboy Slim. Edited to add this. I dare you not to dance in your chair.
  5. Ooh, good list! Don't forget "Obsession" by Animotion.
  6. Because Mary had no imagination. It's a good thing that she's the one who went blind, and not Laura. Could you imagine Mary being Laura's eyes? "The sunset is brown and orange and pink. There are clouds."
  7. So happy to see a new episode! The rednecks in the bar were great, and made me think of the valet parkers, probably because they each played off the other so well and had each other's backs. And Keegan as the pop singer looked just like Sarah Jessica Parker.
  8. Unless you are Asian and you make something from your Asian heritage, then you'll be chastised for not going beyond your comfort zone.
  9. No, I haven't. I've been hesitant to read anything else of his for a while, because Boy's Life was just that perfect. But I'll have to look into it. Thanks for the recommendation!
  10. Yep, I've seen that. He looked just so incredibly tired and sad then. The gentleman hosting the show was part of his crew on Hessie's Shed, wasn't he? And I really like Leaps and Bounds for the specific sense of unity in its storytelling about the experience.
  11. JacquelineLHope, did you ever see Hessie's Shed, Paul Hester's variety show? I caught the Neil Finn/Paul Kelly episodes on Youtube and play them constantly (thank you a million times, whoever posted them). Anyway, they do Leaps and Bounds and it's just so good. I'm living in the wrong place, given my love for all music Australian/NZ.
  12. The video was filmed by Eric Idle, I just learned. So cool!
  13. Same here, except I hear "another rotor in the night" because that makes even less sense. :)
  14. Whatever the darkest shade of green exists, I am right now. So envious of that! But at least there's Youtube for those of us too late into the love and in the wrong country too.
  15. Aw, JacquelineLHope, I'm sure being there just made it even more emotional. I'm sure there wasn't a dry eye in the house. And yay, a fellow Frenz/Crowdie!
  16. Split Enz Stuff And Nonsense. It's a sad, honest song about a man telling his girlfriend that he loves her now, can't say if he'll love her for always, and he knows she loves him more. It's really sweet without being douchey, like it could be (probably because Tim Finn sounds so honest singing it), and just about always makes me cry: And Crowded House's Better Be Home Soon, because Neil Finn sang it at the ARIA awards not long after band member Paul Hester killed himself. Neil's grief is evident:
  17. Small World - Split Enz (from their Time And Tide album) Right lyrics - and a Russian man is sent to spy upon us Wrong lyrics (but I still hear it even though I know the right ones!) - and a Russian man is Santa's firebug
  18. In chronological order, here goes: Barry Manilow (oh, hush, I was in junior high) Foreigner with Billy Squier opening Michael Stanley Band Van Halen (original lineup) Asia (remember that supergroup?) J. Geils Band Robert Plant (with Phil Collins on drums) REM Squeeze Bill Cosby George Burns (for his 100th year, front row seats!)
  19. Midnight Special was my babysitting show. The kids I babysat were in bed, parents weren't home yet, and I watched that. This was before VCRs, and watching your favorite bands in a semi-sleepy state was surreal. I remember a video of Rod Stewart "I Was Only Joking": and George Harrison "Crackerbox Palace":
  20. There's an original "The Hard Winter" at the Mansfield Museum exhibit.
  21. I posted this in the scariest video thread too, but it also belongs here. WTF?
  22. Lou Reed's No Money Down. Robot stripping skin off - eeek!
  23. No, the brothers Finn are about six years apart. They do look alike in that one, though! Here's another good one that haunted people when it first played on Mtv:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrdH4ZHTVJE
  24. Yay, a kindred spirit! Here's another version of that song, when the Enz were guesting on the old Paul Hogan show. I actually like it better than the official video.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVFbNYNPbUY
