I saw a photo album like that at the zHallmark store a couple of years ago. Have you checked Amazon or target?

Too right! Being late requires an apology, not a huffy defense. Especially when they're not late because of something unavoidable but rather their own poor time management.Sheesh!
ETA Tattle Teeny I hope that hotel room was a hospitality suite with snacks! LOL

Here's my peeve: people who have to reschedule and are SHOCKED and SURPRISED that I too have things on my plate and can't be available for whatever new time they've arbitrarily chosen. Like the world revolves around their calendar and whaddaya mean you have other commitments? Huh? Especially when they do this last minute. Grrr.
Sorry to hear about the office kitchen renos. That sounds like a headache. But how generous that everyone will still be able to use the restroom! Boss Of The Year.

Yes, I thought of the fact what artists, musicians, actors, etc. are going to want to attend White House events, like State Dinners & concerts? Chachi & Chuck Norris are going to show up?! The Obamas always had cool concerts and invited new artists. The Kennedys had more Classical musicians and artists attend events, but always very classy. Will the Trumps be hanging gold wallpaper in the personal living areas?!
Not just any gold wallpaper, folks. The best gold wallpaper. Tremendous gold wallpaper. The best gold wallpaper the world has ever seen. It's gonna be terrific, folks.

I love you so much for this right now!!!! A laugh was sorely needed.
Did someone mention North Korea? Trump has already spoken eloquently on the subject:

Washington Square by Henry James. I really, really wish I could enjoy James as much as other people do, but.... nope. :(
Recently finished My Sister, My Love by Joyce Carol Oates (which I picked up in light of all the recent JonBenet Ramsey hullabaloo). I enjoyed it although it dragged a bit (for me) during the novella-within-the-novel. It's a pretty quick read, too, despite the page count. I suppose Oates's theory on this murder is as good as any...

Wind in The Willows sounds like a great choice right now. :)
50 items a month? Wow! Now I have to check what my library will let me get away with. lol

Why would "a friend" - a dentist - give the victim, Tom, a dose of that drug so "he could sleep?" Who sleeps in the parking lot of a gym when the person has a home and is supposed to be at work in a few minutes/ an hour?
I have a theory about that low dose: Tom had severe sleep apnea, which makes sedatives far more dangerous. A dose that is enough to make someone fall asleep *is* potentially a lethal dose for someone with severe sleep apnea, which is why anesthesiologists and pain doctors have to be very, very careful with those patients and a dentist woud darn well know it. So I think he either slipped it to Tom in a drink or gave it to Tom as something else, hoping that the sleep apnea would kick in and finish Tom off. And if it didn't, all that would happen is Tom would wake up in a parking lot and everyone would tell him that unusual exhaustion and daytime sleepiness is normal for someone with his condition.

This was just sad. Every time they showed a picture of Shannan Gilbert I wanted to reach through the tv (and through time) to give her a hug. That child needed so much more than a hug, but a hug would have been a good start. And then the kicker at the end that Shannan's other sister murdered their mom. Good lord.
I think it would make sense that the killer had something to do with law enforcement because of the way he taunted the families but knew not to stay on the line for too long. Or maybe that's Criminal Knowledge 101 and any old serial killer would know to do that?
Obviously the burlap is a key. I'm surprised they didn't go more into investigating the source of that burlap, there must be a way to tell where it came from.

I haven't seen his statement on that, but I see part of it when I do a search. However, I can believe it. His comments about Rosie O'Donnell on a national debate watched by 80 million viewers were vile. I remember thinking, she is a woman with kids who have to go to school tomorrow.
Here you go:
There were no witnesses to the attack. The victim had no memory of it, and DNA evidence was in its infancy and was not presented at the trial. The five youths were convicted almost exclusively on their confessions, which they testified were coerced by detectives.
In 2002, another man, a convicted rapist and murderer, confessed to the assault, and his DNA did match semen that was found on the victim. No DNA evidence has been found to tie any of the Central Park 5 to the crime.
The Central Park 5 were exonerated, and in 2014, New York paid them a $41 million settlement.
Trump, however, still is not buying their innocence.
"They admitted they were guilty," Trump said this week in a statement to CNN's Miguel Marquez. "The police doing the original investigation say they were guilty. The fact that that case was settled with so much evidence against them is outrageous. And the woman, so badly injured, will never be the same."

That link also contains a video clip that includes quotes of Trump's various statements.

And this one is a lesser offense but speaks to the larger problem: Can he please stop "othering" minority groups when he speaks?
Gret point and I don't think that is a lesser offense at all, because as you said it exhibits his racism and xenophobia and general ignorance and awfulness. He loves "his" Jews? What are they, his house pets?
3 minutes ago, sistermagpie said:One thing you maybe could post is that there are not riots going on. A peaceful protest is not a riot.
BINGO. With the exception of the burning and vandalism in Oakland it's been pretty good, right? What i don't get are the people complaining the protesters are "suppressing free speech". Um, by exercising their right to free assembly they are doing the exact opposite of suppressing free speech. FFS have we entered an alternate universe where up is down and down is up?

(and if I am, I am sure you folks will let me know :) I don't think he spoke against gays, blacks, or even Latinos. He did say that Mexicans coming in illegally were rapists and thugs, but I do think that was his buffoonish way of saying, SOME of them were.
No, it was the reverse, he said the Mexicans coming to the U.S are the dregs but "some" of them might be nice people:
“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending the best. They’re not sending you, they’re sending people that have lots of problems and they’re bringing those problems with them. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bring crime. They’re rapists… And some, I assume, are good people.”
And then there is what he said about Gonzalo Curiel (who was born in the U.S. but is just another Mexican so far as Trump is concerned).
Not to mention attacking the family of Humayan Khan.
And then there is his track record of refusing to rent to black tenants.
And then there was the little problem with not wanting black workers at his casinos.
And then there is his cozy relationship with white supremacists.
And then there is that little thing about championing the birther movement against Obama.
And then there is the problem with only referring to African Americans as living in inner cities, and repeatedly using the term "thugs" in reference to them.
And then he selected Pence as his running mate, which should tell you all you need to know about how much Trump regards the LGBTQ community.
Oh, let's not forget his anti-semitic comments about Jews and money.
There's more, but I mean, how much more do you need?!?!?!?!

Great question and I'd like to ask another. Why does his manifest unfitness for office not bother you at all? According to every single poll, more than 70% of this country thinks he's unqualified and unfit for this office, so I know that we can almost all agree on that.
Is it that you think this is an easy job? Do you really think that he should have the nuclear codes and be commander of the military when he knows nothing about any issue whatsoever? Do you think that he can actually handle the responsibilities of this office or do you think that the presidency is mostly a figurehead position or something?
I did not vote for Trump, but imo the answer to your question, for a great number of people, is: YES. I have observed a disheartening trend of "we don't need no experts". Why should we listen to professional news sources with their editorial standards when we can just read Reddit? Why do we need pathologists when we can google WebMD? Why do we need qualified, dedicated people in public office when we can just park one of our buddies in the Oval Office and git 'er done? This is some weird "everyman" bullshit that has caught hold.

Thank you. It certainly has its pluses and minuses but I am getting discouraged that so many people think it serves NO purpose. It was designed to stop pure mob rule and give some protection to minority views. There was an idea behind it besides "white men! slaveholders!".
39 minutes ago, sleekandchic said:So that leaves me feeling that there were really only TWO things his supporters lived and died by:
(1) Utter belief that Trump is a "great and successful businessman" who can singlehandedly shake up the DC establishment, fix the economy and create millions of jobs. AND...
(2) Hatred of Secretary Clinton.
You left out #3: Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Churches got out the vote this year, and they weren't steering their parishioners to the baby killing harlot in the pantsuit, they were voting for God's Own Party. It may have a rotting pumpkin for a figurehead but imo these voters are counting on Pence et. al. to set back reproductive rights, marriage equality, and LGBTQ progress. But mainly reproductive rights.

Thanks! At least I'm not losing my mind.
Brielle doesn't strike me as the kind of kid who would want to learn the various aspects of production. I pity her classmates.

The protestors were arrested for disorderly conduct and obstructing government. You can protest peacefully but there are limits. Like climbing on people's cars and damaging them, or interfering with a police line.

Elastic shoe laces! I liked the kind in which one could tie them a single time then never have to bother with untying/retying but I haven't seen any in the last fifteen years.
They have them at Dr. Leonard's:

I miss a cookie from my childhood and I can't even remember the name of them. They were basically sugar cookies with faces painted on them in icing, possibly from Peek Freans. Haven't seen them in decades and they are my holy grail of cookies.

I re-read Nancy Drew books every so often because I refuse to grow up. :)
And I read A Christmas Carol every year at the holidays, along with some other classic holiday stories.
I have returned to Absalom, Absalom several times.

Didn't they already do this last year - take Brielle to Hollywood for a try out at E? I could swear this already happened.
Speaking of these bratty kids, I was pretty mad a couple of eps ago when the football player husband (whatever his name is) said that the kids are rough so they need a large dog that can "hold its own" against the kids. No dog should have to hold its own against wild, rough, undisciplined children! No matter their size, pets should be treated with respect and empathy! Ugh. These people are trash.

The good news is that birds aren't nesting or having babies at this time of the year.
Neither are the squirrels fwiw. The second squirrel birthin' season (they have two litters per year) ended about a month or so ago. But why are all the trees coming down?!?!?!?!? :(
It's not just the humans I am terrified for under Trump. It's all the innocent critters and their habitats, too.

Yes well, she thinks bad things only happened to bad people. In her mind, if you're dressed "like you want it" or get an abortion, it's your own fault if you get raped or bleed to death. That was justice in the good old 50s. Make America Great Again! :(

Exit polls did say that 7 in 10 Trump supporters feel society was better in the 1950s than it is today. I'm sure they're just talking about jobs and the economy, though. Yeah, that's it.
I live in a pretty progressive bubble so my direct contact with Trump supporters is admittedly limited, but the second-biggest Trump supporter I know has an absolute fixation on the 50s as some sort of social paradise, in which Jesus ruled the land, men were virtuous, everyone was heterosexual, honest and true, and bad things only happened to bad people. For her, Trump somehow signals a return to this. It has nothing to do with the economy and jobs. It has everything to do with a white protestant Shangri-La.

Who Killed JonBenét? (Lifetime) - General Discussion
in Who Killed JonBenét? (Lifetime)
Yup! But the way I heard it she went as a friendly visitor and was not going to try to pry a confession, just to be there if one happened or if Patsy wanted to unload. Lou Smit said he went for the same reason. Allegedly.
