  1. ITA. I was just going to add this to the conversation: https://www.artic.edu/artworks/47149/mao Mao's face as pop art, and with the whole "cult of personality" that happened throughout the 80s (even though Warhol produced these in the early 70s), it's likely that this image found its way to fabric and fashion without any of its original context. I do recall a whole resurgence of Soviet-style graphics in the 80s and early 90s as well -- on watches, t-shirts, etc.
  2. Yes. It really doesn't take much effort to make sure your guests have found a seat and are comfortable before the host sits down. Also, would it kill any one of those people to read a book, a newspaper, a bill board on their way to the party, just to divert the conversation away from the general naval gazing?
  3. I remained amazed at how vain these women are, and how they require compliments at all times. Their dinner game should have just been pass-a-mirror-around-the-table. Thank god for High Maurice, and Weirdo Aaron, and Rude Sutton. Without them, we would have just listened to 100 ways that rich people like each others' outfits. I don't think Erica has a strong voice, but its not bad. But let's not fool ourselves. She didn't audition for a Broadway part, she negotiated it. She's privileged and wealthy, with a lot of resources at hand.
  4. OMG, when Leah said "Fuck the Morgans" and Sonja said "Find me another one and I WILL!", I almost fell off my chair. LOLOL
  5. eh, I'm not judging Erika's marriage, just her i guess, lol. As I said, her husband does seem like a sweet guy, and they do seem to care about each other. That whole scene with Denise and her operation, and her husband saying "honey, we're in the future now" was weird! why was that necessary? Also, having 4 hernias at the same time must have been extremely painful! I think most married couples have both names on their house ownership. My understanding is that if something happens to one of the spouses, and the other didn't have legal ownership (on paper), then its an issue to transfer ownership after the fact. Also, I would want both names on house insurance, etc. It doesn't make sense to have only one name on the house, unless the other doesn't want to list it as a personal asset.
  6. I totally agree! It's great to have someone just burst the scenes like the Kool-Aid man, with all her Yacht-dropping conversation starters, and just mindlessly stepping on everyone's toes. She is a good shake-up! I'm sorry to see that she obviously doesn't last, or gets downgraded somewhere in the season.
  7. Erika saying she wished for more emotional support growing up, and then crying with her 80-year old husband (who admittedly seems like he is a good guy and really does support her) = daddy issues
  8. I just saw a comment on a youtube video that said Sutton looked like a snowman with twig arms, and it made me literally LOL.
  9. I'm guessing that Scheana fantasized about bringing Dayna this pyschic, Dayna would have some sort of emotional experience that Scheana could hitch her wagon to, and then maybe that would be compelling enough to get out of whatever tv isolation chamber she is trapped in. I respect that Dayna did not want to sell her soul in that moment, but why does she otherwise get so much camera time? How boring were the scenes that DIDN'T get used this season?? With Beau's plans to bring everyone to Lisa's house after his proposal, I am beginning to think that Lisa is testing out her plans as a cult leader. They all need to tell her that she is beautiful, and the almighty authority in their lives. Then she'll get them all to drink her kool-aid Vanderpump Rosé on demand.
  10. Oh, I think both Kyle AND Lisa R. think they are the stars of the show. They are both unbearable. I'm not sure I can take another season of watching Rinna laugh and knee slap at her own terrible jokes.
  11. I'm sure all the expert staff in NY just loved Kyle, the micro-managing amateur, making their jobs that much more difficult. Also, Kyle got a part in Halloween, and now her eyes are set on "permanent surprise". Yeesh, take it easy on the ol' botox.
  12. Dorinda's mean streak seems fuelled by jealousy and pettiness. She's stressed out by how much her renovations are costing, I get that, but she goes out of her way to insult and hurt other people. She's not going to win if she goes up against Leah, because Leah keeps a sober and level head about her. Dorinda will just lose her shit and look like an idiot, and it will all be on camera. And Sonja just hitches her wagon to the alpha dog, I see. It's on the preview for next week: it looks like LuAnn leaves the house and then sends a long text saying how insulted she was to be put in the basement, and ends it with 'goodnight from the lower level'
  13. There are a ton of ways to critique these dummies, but I'm not a fan of criticizing Katie and Brittany's weight, or cracking food jokes about them. I do wonder about Katie's fashion choices, and that hair in her talking heads is a mystery to me. She really needs to find some purpose. In my opinion, there is nothing that Raquel has done in the past that has even remotely indicated that she is smarter than she sounds. I think at some point she started getting some serious coaching by a producer or someone similar. I like that she is standing up to Lala, who has lost her damn mind even thinking it was okay to utter the phrase "you need to know your place". Shwartzie is a messy bitch. If my husband seriously said half of that in public he'd have to sleep with one eye open.
  14. I'm going to have to re-watch because somehow I missed what the tampons were for?? I guess I left the room at the wrong time. I'll have more thoughts after I see it again, but I am struck by how disgusting these dummies leave their hotel rooms after only a few days. They live like pigs.
  15. I agree -- I mentioned upthread that the drunken hysterics are no longer entertaining. I really don't find the rest of the case any less ignorant, sadly. I also wonder if Lisa VdP is just burned-out at this point. I feel like she has lost her witty approach to things, and isn't really a catalyst to this bunch anymore. She just enters a room like some dusty fairy godmother and then leaves. She's really phoning it in.
  16. I forgot to add, I literally LOL'd when Jax and whatsername drove all the way from the suburbs to Lisa's house for 30 seconds. They let themselves in, seated themselves nervously, got the news and had to show themselves out. And they were honored, lol. Oh, and that pastor definitely made statements that demonstrates his aversion to the LGTBQ community: https://www.buzzfeed.com/laraparker/this-pastor-who-has-made-transphobic-and-racist-remarks It's pretty clear where he stands. But did we really expect the bride and groom-to-be to have any kind of skills to manage conflict resolution of this sort? They handled it about as poorly as I would have guessed (basically wished it away until someone with some authority over their livelihood told them to knock it off).
  17. I can barely muster enough interest to comment on those new ones, and I really don't care if they date each other or band together to smother Scheana with a pillow. All these people don't read or give themselves any intellectual (and I use that term very liberally) input — maybe if they did, they would have something interesting to say or do. They've run out of ideas to be entertaining, and drinking themselves into hysterics doesn't seem to work anymore.
  18. The lack of self-reflection in all these dumb-dumbs is truly fascinating. Arianna might be truly depressed because she trapped herself in a monogamous heterosexual relationship with a man who does not bring her true joy, and is isolated out in the suburbs. The two Toms own like 5% each of that resto-bar? They're not owners as much as they are mascots, and they act that way. Lisa must be very satisfied with how high those dummies jump when she snaps her fingers. Racquel is in a toxic (maybe dangerous) relationship, but she is clearly choosing that option over not being on tv. Also, she talks like she has recently sustained a head injury. Why is it so difficult for her to form words? I really felt sorry for James after seeing how awful his parents are last season, but he is really showing his sociopathic side. I've got nothing really to say about Jax/Britney -- maybe these two sweaty/weeping lumps deserve each other?
  19. I feel like this is an episode where we see everyone slightly off their game, from Logan right down to the members of the "what the fuck are we going to do" committee. Everyone was showing their ass slightly, which reshuffles the audience a bit too in terms of who's right/wrong, who's on top/out the door.
  20. Given the fact that Kendall appears to be the only family member who actually engages with business statistics and the fine details of acquisitions, I'm sure Logan knows that Kendall is actually an asset, and that a sober Kendall is actually a formidable adversary to Logan. Otherwise, Logan would not have printed rumours about Kendall using drugs again (Season 1, right before the family met for counselling) to throw Kendall off. Kendall can be controlled with drugs and emotional whipsawing, so Logan uses that to his advantage. He controls Roman through fear and intimidation, and now he's trying to figure out how to get Shiv under control too.
  21. Also, lol to Logan's "where the fuck am I" when Kendall woke him up the next morning. That guy's mental state is regressing each day.
  22. I think Rhea realized that you have to be part of the family if you want to run the company, so she just might need to replace Marcia to get the job she wants. After rewatching some of last season, I realized that Shiv's mother referred to Marcia as the "Middle East Bureau Chief" or something like that, so it seems like Logan met Marcia through work as well.
  23. I think, if anything, the episode showed that both Logan and Nan were out of touch with their contemporaries in their field and are both flailing. Nan did not seem to know anyone (or at least did not talk to anyone that we saw), and Logan had no idea how to relate to anyone during their crisis. I also thought Rhea did a great job as a power broker, and clearly inspired Shiv ("it's all gravy"), but the patriarch and matriarch were too unwieldy to manage, and the Roy family is basically feral, so that's a lot of juggling
  24. I'm delurking to say that I think Nan never intended to sell Pierce. She showed up to Argestes in a foul mood, avoided real negotiations, complained about the menu prices and just ordered tap water, and then leaped on the first opportunity to back out of the deal. Also, I'm not really that educated about corporate culture, but I thought CEO's had a responsibility to find the best possible financial opportunities for the company. Does Rhea really need to defend why she tried to broker this deal if it nets Nan a profit? Logan hit Roman hard enough to knock out a tooth and Roman said it was no big deal, which is a pretty good indication that Roman has been regularly abused. Logan is an abusive narcissist, who keeps a cycle of love bombing and abuse to control everyone around him. I noticed that Marcia only put her arm out to buffer Kendall and Logan -- the "kids" were left to fend for themselves. She's a piece of work, that one. There are so many details in this episode to consider!
